daniel murner, or banks from laure co

Murner is #3 behind two guys who have beat him.

Banks is #1. Can't get much more respect than that.

I was thinking more like Rob Aylor. A defending state champ who could step it up in Frankfort.

thats not really how i looked at them being rated i meant that i dont think really anyone counts on them winning state which i think both could feasibly do no one thought banks could before state duals i know that

When it comes to rankings Murner gets an appropriate level of respect. When it comes to word on the street, he does not ... not even close.

As an aside, that kid is an outrageous all around athelete. He won state in Cross Country last year and could conceivably do it in wrestling. When's the last time someone has won individual titles in two different sports (Cross Country and Track doesn't count, they're the same thing basically if you're a distance guy).

I think Corey Peters is way under rated. He deserves alot more credit than he get. He is a good leader and role model for the young kids on his team. He also helps his coach alot. Central wouldnt ahve the program that htey do with dedicated wrestlers like him.

I wouldn't say no one thought Banks had a chance. I think many have said that 145 will be a tough one with 5 or 6 guys have a legit shot at it. I would agree that there were not too many people ready to put their $ on Banks until after the duals (yours truly included). The draw will mean everything in this weight class.

In Nky maybe the most underrated would be

Ben Rust Campbell Co. 130 (placed 4th last year) losing to Parker and Theunerman. And defeating Marcus Coleman last years state.

He also just took Peace to the wire.

i would agree with grappler-of-old about ben rust. i have seen him wrestle a bunch this year and it seems he always puts himself in a position to win

Alfred Collins 130 from Perry County Central was hurt last year and hadn't been beat in Ky yet....getting a maj. decision win over Garrison Headley the eventual state runner-up 15-5....He is someone who will be a sure state placer.....Look for him to make noise in Frankfort

Muerner is a splendid young wrestler. He does not get enough credit for his ability. I have been very impressed with his stamina, technique, and attitude.

what about Jammie Kestner and Anthony Patrick from Johnson Central ?

Kestner wrestles 130 and Patrick wretles 135.

He does not get a lot of press right now, but is ranked appropriately based on state duels performance and losing a real close one to Coleman. Had a tough day at the state duels, but may very likely win all 3 he lost next time if he sees them again (Butler, Wasson, Jackson) ... all of which were wars and he's beaten Wasson twice. Its hard to beat any good wrestler 3 times in a row though ... and Wasson is just that.

Although as an aside, Wasson would be a threat to win it all himself if he were more aggressive and more technically sound ... he is a HUGE 130 pounder ... no one matches his power at that class.

Last year at State other than Scott beating Parker Rust is the only one that had Parker sweating in any match at state (yes, he wrestled him closer than Parks did) ... although Parker exploded Pitino Wildcats style like he does and caught him in a pin. But Parker was down in the 3rd before he took the lead and then did that.

If he wrestles like he did against Peace Wed, he's a threat to take it to the house. He did a nice job keeping his head in the game and rebounding from a tough day at the duels, and thats the kind of mental toughness needed to get through multiple studs (although a good draw always helps too !) in a format such as state.

Another guy at 130 i've been told about thats under rated is Parrit from Ohio Co. I heard that guy is pretty decent.

i think Chitwood from Ryle is under rated

Haven't seen him wrestle much. Hope you're right actually.

yes i would have to agree Chitwood is underrated too, he has been wrestling for ages and he could very well win the region, but at the same time Vaughn could win it aswell, those 2 always have a good match, right now Vaughn has 2 wins while Chitwood has 1 win between the 2 since they have met 3 times

what about Jammie Kestner and Anthony Patrick from Johnson Central ?

Kestner wrestles 130 and Patrick wretles 135.

they are both GREAT wrestlers and both should place at the state tournament.

:D

I think Corey Peters and Anthony Glover of Central are underated. They have work hard these last four years and I think that they can go far at state.

I think seneca's 130, Zack Pulton is very underated. He's not even ranked yet he majored coleman, beat Tom Kusnir by 7, lost to wasson by 1, lost to mike bowlds by 1 at the beginning of the season. I expect him to upset Bowlds at regionals

i believe pulton has also beaten Steven Butler from woodford

yes pulton is very very underrated...he presents very awkward match-ups with his wrestling style...pretty defensive and nails you with any mistake you make...not a strong wrestler thought he just lets u make the mistakes and takes advantage of it...
