Was FYFFE's transfer to WOODFORD Illegal?

Topic ID: 479 | 12 Posts

KHSAA Bylaw 6. Transfer Rule.

Any student who has been enrolled in grades nine through twelve and has participated in any varsity game in any sport at any school following enrollment in grade nine who transfers schools shall be ineligible for interscholastic athletics for one year from the date of enrollment in the new school.

KHSAA needs to investigate this transfer. Even if there is a Bona fide change in residence....Bylaw 6 section 2 states- If the change in schools is motivated in whole or part by a desire to participate in athletics at the new school; the period of ineligibility shall be granted.

Isn't this the reason Highland Heights football team lost there State Championship in 2004?

Another Forum that should not be posted on here.

I am quite certain that if there was anything going on with this it would have been investigated.

This is however something that is not appropriate for discussion on this type of forum.

I beg to have this topic removed

Yes, let keep that quite!

I say talk about it subjects like this need to be confronted. Its sad this is starting to take place in wrestling it was only football. No Highlands did not loose a their State Championship they had to forfeit every game Mitchell played in but got to keep the state title. They finished the season something like 3-13 with a state championship. The worst record for a state championship team in KY history.

i dont think anyone should be penalized for switching schools even if it is just for athletics. some athletes switch school for the oppertunity to have better coaching and to compete at a higher level, this inturn can lead to greater exposer to college coaches and more scholarship oppertunities. though these athletes may be swutching schools for athletics it may be for more than just the chance to win a state title they have to take into consideration what is best for their futures.

it was checked out by the khsaa and everything was approved

A Franklin County wrestler told me at the beginning of the season that Fyffe transfered for wrestling. He also said that both Fyffe and Phillips(FC 160 last year) skipped school and talked to Coach Carr right after last season was over. I don't think any sort of changing of schools for athletics should be allowed. That just leads to recruitment of high school athletes. It seems to have gotten Lexington Catholic in trouble with the Lexington Schools.

I say talk about it subjects like this need to be confronted.

It may need to be confronted' date=' but it must be done by the KHSAA. If you or anyone else has a suspicion of wrongdoing then you can send that information to them. Opening up a can of worms only leads to more bashing and hard feelings. (Not what this website is all about)

You may also note that I have [b']not been a fan of Woodford in the past, so this is not a tainted opinion towards Woodford.

Hasnt it already been gone over by the Khsaa? I think it has

I personally don't think it should matter, although it does. Fyffe probably moved to improve his chances at a scholarship. He certainly can get top notch training at Woodford. He also could get top notch at Larue. There are alot of boys who love to wrestle and have the desire to get better but unfortunately their school may not have the coaches to get them there. Not trying to take anything away from all the hard working coaches out there. Good luck to Fyffe and all the kids with the will, desire and dedication to make themselves the best they could possibly be, and to possibly be a stand-out at the next level.

Well Put
