Most likely to upset #1's

Topic ID: 48270 | 2 Posts

The forums have been a little dead lately, so trying to spark up some conversation.

This is somewhat of a dark-horse thread, but trying to limit it to the top 5 in the most recent rankings.  Based off of the rankings, who within the top5 do you see as the biggest threat to the current #1?  I know some may have a .0000001% chance, but still fun to discuss.

106 - Brinkman (currently #2).  Kid just doesn't stop, and won't let senior status of #1 affect his mentality.

113 - Vowels (currently #4).  I've always liked the way this kid wrestles.

120 - Wasson (currently #4).  A strong, hard-working kid who has a great partner in Wells.

126 - Cornwell (currently #2).  Cornwell is good.

132 - McCloskey (currently #2).  Raney is clearly above the entire field, McCloskey is a tech better than everyone else.

138 - Evans (currently #2).  Former champ, and one of the best "pure" wrestlers there is.  Same as 132, he's a tech above everyone else.

144 - Ren (currently #4).  He's a weird wrestler, great at scrambling and sticky on top.

150 - Jenkins (I assume will be #2 since the bump).  He's right there with Johns.

157 - Thompson (currently #2).  He pulled off a miracle at All-Star Classic.

165 - Ray (currently #3).  I've seen magic come out of Union's room.

175 - Lamer (currently #3).  Not sure why, just a guess.

190 - Steiber (currently #3).  Another guess.

215 - Hyden (currently #2).

HWT - Roth (currently #2).

I think this year is some of the most cut and dry #1's that I've seen in a while, but who knows what will happen at state. Crazy things always happen.

106: Dicken- Tough kid who is hard to wrestle. Lost to Brinkman and Warner, but Conner wrestlers always find a way to perform at state.

113: Mayberry (union county effect)

120: Valera- Next best kid in the bracket

126: Nance- Always finds a way to stay in good position and scores from anywhere. If he gets first takedown, he's hard to beat

132: McCloskey- Next best kid by a mile

138: Evans- Next best kid by a mile

144: Birk- Dennis is a takedown machine, Birk has kept it close already and they will see each other at regions to make any adjustments

150: Jenkins if he bumps, Knight if he doesn't

157: Thompson- Next best kid

165: Ray- Union County effect

175: Turner- Ricketts clears everyone, only way to beat him is to catch him, Turner is most likely to do that.

190: Davis- Second best kid

215: Jack James-  Returning state champ. Got pinned by Hyden, but I think James is the more complete wrestler.

285: Who knows, it's heavy. I'll just say Adkins. Lost 2-1 to Mooney, can easily turn that to his favor. Johnson Central big guys are always good.
