The KWCA State Duals will be wrestled this Saturday at Henry Clay High School. All teams have confirmed that they will be in attendance except for Southern. Henry Clay will take the place of Southern since they are the host school. We are still trying to contact Union and Ohio County but it looks like all teams and regions will be represented in a great event.

Does anyone know if Union County will be attending State Duals?

If so, could you let them know that they need to contact either Coach Feiser or Coach Canter as soon as possible.

Are we talking about South Oldham or southern high school? Sorry, I'm not that bright. I know South Oldham had a couple of serious injuries so it makes sense that they would not make it.

does anyone else think it is weak how just cause they host it henry clay gets a second chance? how come some team from southerns region didnt come like they would do with regular state? it kinda seems like if henry clay was an individual wrestler and lost in regions and didnt make it, and another wrestler dropped out from another region henry clay is just sliding in there. and another thing what if they win?? highly unlikely but its like giving them a second chance. i am against it i think some team from southerns region should come instead.

That depends on who was third in the region.  If it was another Jefferson County school (very likely, unless it was Bullitt Central) then it doesn't matter, because they couldn't attend either.  County policy won't allow any teams to attend.  Just like individuals, one the first alternate has a chance it is opened up to the rest of the state through another process.

Henry Clay holds the State Duals every year.  Their wrestlers, coaches and parents help put on the event at their school.  Their wrestlers cannot attend another tourney because they are tied to helping out the state duals. 

It is a logical choice that they be allowed the luxury of participating in the state duals if another team cannot or declines the invite. 

How is this any different than the state tourney.  If a kid from one region can't participate because of an injury on short notice that teams 5th place gets first option to fill in this spot.  If that person cannot participate or is not in attendance then it goes to another individual who placed 5th in their region to represent another region. 

Once again this is who is closest to the tourney at the time, or in attendance not who should be there.

The only true difference is that Henry Clay stays at the top of the list every year, because they host the tourney.

Henry Clay didn't used to host every yr. I remember it at Dunbar in the 90s.

you must not have been to state duals, one of the best run tournaments all year plus they got good food!
