Kentuckywrestling.com HS Rankings 2008/2009 - FEB 11

Topic ID: 4965 | 60 Posts

Sounds like everyone is getting nervous, excited, fired up, or however you want to describe it.  It is post season time and I bet there will be a lot of sparks flying this weekend.  Union should handle region 1, but my sources say there may be some tight battles in Region 2 (Larue and John Hardin), Region 5 (3 Oldhams), Region 6 (Ryle and Campbell), and Region 8 (Johnson Central, Sheldon Clark, and Wayne).  And I'm guessing that there will be lots of tension in region 7 as well.  Good luck to all this weekend.  Wrestle hard, show good sportsmanship, and may be best men win.  Oh, by the way, here are the pre-regional rankings.

Why did Brown move past Ohlman.  I dont disagree, just wondering if they met up or something this past week.

140 from har. co is Caleb Berry and 145 is Chris Brunker.

Why did Brown move past Ohlman.  I dont disagree, just wondering if they met up or something this past week.

No head to head.  Just one of those things.  The info I'm getting from around the state tells me Brown is the guy to beat.  A month or so ago it was a completely different story.

Tre Such just beat Anthony Adams through a major decision I think, and he drops down in the rankings?

Holy crap... I think i'm in man love with you.  Just because a kid wants to wrestle it doesn't make him a wrestler!  Either get better and become a varsity wrestler or go play a sport that doesn't require talent, like football!  Come on now.. that was funny.

First, I have to say -- yes this is funny. True, too!

Second, I'm excited -- some great competition in the top ranks of almost all the weight classes. I say almost because I don't have any doubt Courtney will repeat, but maybe some interesting match-ups will happen for the other 160 medals.

Wondering why Chiba isn't higher -- he seems to be the man to beat at 215.

And, oh man, the 140 competition is gonna be fierce!!!

calvin mcneely at 171 is out for the year with a knee injury, and i didnt know if your realized this or not but you have zach shaw and chad jordan both from hoptown ranked

Have Houchens and Bradford met this year? Also, I don't think that Bernard Ray will make finals at 160, he'll run into either Courtney who will beat him, or Walls who has the state experience and I think will beat him. A freshman making the finals at 160 would be good though...

And can someone please explain to me why there are two zeros at the bottom of 152?

Ray is 1-0 against Walls this year which is why he's ranked 2nd

What was the score, where did they meet? When?

Ray pinned him in a dual meet about a month ago. I'm not sure of the score before the fall but from what I've heard it was pretty close. I agree that Walls wins a rematch, but you gotta give Ray #2 until that happens.

Thank you, you finally put woodford in front of John Hardin, please give me the logic.

And can someone please explain to me why there are two zeros at the bottom of 152?

They moved to Canada :-D

TC's andrew wright cannot get any love at 152 can he? i mean Logan Murrell is still in front of him after wright beat him two times in a row. and the most recent being a quite decisive 3 point decision at the lexington city tourny. NO LOVE AT ALL

yes, bradford beat houchens at the dragon. houchens was supposedly hurt though.

The top 4 215s are a toss-up in my mind.  They have all beated each other.  The current rankings reflect most of the back and forth.  I think Chiba lost to Pace a few weeks ago which resulted in him going from #2 to #4.

Didn't catch that.  Thanks for letting me know.

The zeros or blanks are because I don't have any solid picks for those last spots.  That will be cleared up this weekend when we see how the regional tournaments play out.

Wow... 152 must be pretty weak then...  :|

Thank you, you finally put woodford in front of John Hardin, please give me the logic.

EXACTLY THE SAME AS I EXPLAINED BEFORE!

And yes, I typed in bold caps because I was yelling at the computer screen.  And now that I have explained to my family and they do not think I have lost my mind...

Based on the individual finishes at state I have Woodford slightly ahead of JH now.  But just as before, they are so close, a match here or there or bonus points at state could easily change that.  And of course the draw will shake things up a lot.

I dont know if kelly and chiba wrestled yet. But i do know that pace pin chiba, and pace got beat by kelly

ilg hasn't wrestled any of them this season. 215 looks really stacked this season

Wow... 152 must be pretty weak then...  :|

Not necessarily, it just means that I haven't seen 35 guys this year that jump out as having a shot to win matches at the state tournament.  At 103, 140, and 145 I have about 40.  But only 32 make it and only 24 will win matches and score points for their team.

yes, bradford beat houchens at the dragon. houchens was supposedly hurt though.

The score 6-2 (Bradford) with 30 seconds left when Houchens was injured.  Hopefully he has recovered and can compete this and next weekend.

Think issue is that Ohlmann hasn't wrestled much in the last month so not much info flying around on him.  Hopefully they'll see each other at state.  Should be a good match.

What is Bradfords record this year so far

I believe Bradford only has 3 losses this season.  1 in the SWOWCA and 2 against the same guy at the GMVWA.  He hasn't lost a match since.  Incredible year against some really tough Ohio competition.

I may need to correct myself because I think he may have had another loss at the GMVWA.  Anyway 50 or so wins and 3 or 4 losses.  I think I would take that record.  :-)

Sou Zach Tucker beat And Co Ben Joseph

What happened that Warra from S. Oldham dropped from 8 to 18?

You were right the first time, he only lost two matches. Both to the same kid from Eastwood.

You were right the first time, he only lost two matches. Both to the same kid from Eastwood.

The score?

I think Jake lost the first match to the Eastwood kid by about 4.  In the second match he slammed the kid in the first period and ended up losing by 2.  His other loss is to Tomlin from Harrison (Ohio) that score was 6-5.  I spoke with Tomlin 2 weeks ago and he is committed to a full ride to NC State

GOOD JOB RANGER :-D

TC's andrew wright cannot get any love at 152 can he? i mean Logan Murrell is still in front of him after wright beat him two times in a row. and the most recent being a quite decisive 3 point decision at the lexington city tourny. NO LOVE AT ALL

I have to agree with this. I also can not understand why Murrell is still ranked so far ahead of Wright at this point. Wright clearly has beaten him decisively several times now.  :?

heres tilghmans results:

135-Justin wynne 4th (lost to luke ervin in semis then to Dylan Hale from caldwell in a really tight match in consolation)

145-Judson Pitman 1st (2 first round pins and he didnt win the finals by much but he dominated the match)

zach pitman only placed one place higher than polley...zach and kory swap spots in the bracket and im sure he places higher than pitman..

doubt that. did you see pitmans match with jared smith? he completely dominated him 11-1. Jared Smith walked up to  me and told me he was going to lose to polley bc he didnt care anymore.

Jared was putting everything into that final match with Carr. He wasnt focused on the opponett in front of him I guess.

come on..get real...its his senior year..any senior with some sense of pride does just not hand away a match esp at regionals..kory polley might not do much at state this year but...watch out for him in the next four years

Ya, senior year is the one were everything is on the line, You Dont give away a match. Why even wrestle if your going to do that?

i believe that in his senior year  Zach pitman will win state, he is definately better than corey polley because i beat polley and pitman teched me 2nd round

I could easily see Jared doing that. He gets disheartened very easily. Bontrager was famous for his post-loss tirades, Jared is just as bad if not worse and he doesnt recover like Bontrager would.
