8th Graders going to State

Topic ID: 4993 | 29 Posts

I was looking at all the Region finals, an there are alot of 8th Graders going to State this year.. Ky Wrestling has some very good young men moving up.

I cant wait till they are Jr's & Sr's.

its not uncommon for a 8th grader to go to state

How about 7th graders?

Franklin County's 112 is a 8th grader. And he placed 2nd in region 7, he lost to will bryant from lafayette in the finals.

David Sahms was Fort Campbells first 8th grader to qualify since Alan Johnson

How about 7th graders?

sheldon clarks 103 is a seventh grader and he placed 3rd in region 8

112 Wade Holtsclaw 8, John Hardin

119 Caleb Canter 8, LaRue

Canter was 100 at middle school state a week ago and had to bump up to get into the lineup:

103 Nick Paden, Larue 9

112 Justin Thompson, Larue 12

Pretty impressive and gutsy  :-D

Did everyone forget Kevin cooper?

holmes 125 or 130 maybe 110 cody johnson

id have to go with Wade Willen(8th grade) from UHA ranked 8th, yet in the region 1 finals beat 6th ranked Neal Reburn from UC.

What 8thj graders made it to state from region 6? Kevin Cooper, Lane Jones. What about Iisac Hamlin, is he an 8th grader? Anyone else from region 6 I left out?

.

I think its very impressive and great to see 8th graders place in region and make it to state. Cant wait to see how much improved they will get over the years!

135-Hasaamnj Hart (8th) from Franklin Co. placed 4th in Region 7.

Mitch Rusch, North Oldham's 103 is a 7th grader.

Region 8

Zack Troxell from Wayne Co. is an 8th grader that placed 1st at 130.

Mike Parris from McCreary is an 8th grader that placed 4th at 119 and Dennis Susaita is an 8th grader from MC that finished 5th at 112.

mitch rucsh from NO is a 7th grader going to state he took 4th IN REGION 5

What 8thj graders made it to state from region 6? Kevin Cooper, Lane Jones. What about Iisac Hamlin, is he an 8th grader? Anyone else from region 6 I left out?

holmes 125 cody johnson made it to state

Forgot someone

Its going to happen much more with 32 man brackets.  This may be the positive side of that.  Younger kids getting more experience.  I know some fishest in the top two that would have qualified in a 16 man bracket.

Forgot someone

1) As you can tell by the date of my post, I copied it off the KHSAA site BEFORE the brackets were fixed (i.e. inputting Fort Campbell and Fort Knox).

2) It was NOT an intentional slight. When you're dealing with 14 brackets of 32 kids, it's not uncommon to forget someone (i.e. I had 24 of the 25)

I wasnt being rude I was just helping you complete the list

If I thought it was intentional I wouldve said so

Thought I might add what each did in Middle School State (in Parentheses)

The Break Down

Middle school wt classes

103 had 6 high school state qualifiers

131 had 4 high school state qualifiers

185 had 3 high school state qualifiers

117 had 2 high school state qualifiers

110 had 1 high school state qualifier

124 had 1 high school state qualifier

140 had 1 high school state qualifier

230 had 1 high school state qualifier

5 did not wrestle in the middle school state.

Just thought I'd add some insight to bulldog-leaders last post: Jeremy Burnham would have wrestled in Middle School State but finished 5th in region 1. I'm sure some of the others who did not wrestle would have if they could have place ahead of their middle school competition. For Jeremy that was eventual MS champion Logan Wedding, 2nd Place Caleb Canter, Wade Willen 3rd place and Chad Gafaher 4th or 5th at MS and 5th at 112 in the HS Region 1 tournament.
