What a wild weekend!  I can't recall to many weight changes and surprise finishes during a regional weekend.  I decided to update the rankings one more time before state.  Tomorrow night I'll try to post my usual prediction rankings based on how I see the tournament playing out (more accurate for team scoring).  I think it is shaping up to be a great weekend in Frankfort.

112 - Did Warra not make weight? What place did Andy Lenz get at regionals at 125? Also James Sever's placed 5th at regionals didn't he? If so that doesn't constitute an 10th ranking. Disappointing with two of the top 4 not making weight at regionals.

119 - Why did Byron Hoskinson move from 6 to 11? It will be interesting to see how Jeff Warra shakes things up. Zarth has been doing good, hope he doesn't slip up now.

125 - Wonder how Andy Lenz will do with the extra weight. Also, look out for Kasey Hedges to get some upsets after being up 8 then getting pinned by Travis K.

130 - What happened to Aaron Dodd?

135 - It will be interesting to see how Rayshawn Graham will do at 135, hope he can make weight for state. It will be interesting to see how Brandon Whitehouse does as well, look for him to possibly get some upsets. Duncan Caddell is way under ranked!!!

Don't know what happened to Pike.

Severs was 3rd.  As was Lenz.

Hoskinson lost to Hitchings and Warra moved up.

Dodd moved up to 140.

Kiper beat Thomas at region.

Sowder looked great at region teching in the finals.  McCauley lost to Robinson.

Andy Kiper looked very strong Saturday.  He was really aggressive the whole match, and you could clearly see that he frustrated Thomas the entire six mins.

Meade County 103 Pike did not make weight.

The problem is not Ranger.  The problem is that khsaa ignores any rankings other than how a wrestler places in the region.  It makes it very easy for them to come our with the brackets but unfortunately does not guarantee a fair distribution of the wrestlers.  This results in the key matches between top ranked wrestlers in the quarter finals rather than under the lights in the finals.  Clearly they have to wrestle each other eventually but preference for the fans would be under the lights.  Oh well, maybe someday.

The problem is not Ranger.  The problem is that khsaa ignores any rankings other than how a wrestler places in the region.  It makes it very easy for them to come our with the brackets but unfortunately does not guarantee a fair distribution of the wrestlers.  This results in the key matches between top ranked wrestlers in the quarter finals rather than under the lights in the finals.  Clearly they have to wrestle each other eventually but preference for the fans would be under the lights.  Oh well, maybe someday.

I agree that his rankings are 95%.  IMO 95% is a significant improvement over 50/50 or a coin toss or worse yet random.  I realize Ranger is not magic and his rankings are only as good as the info fed to him.  But at least it is better than random.  I think it would be worth a try one year to see if it improves the tournament.

the question is what would you obsess over if not for ranger to rank everybody? so you are interdependant on ranger, therefor, if he were to "get a life" (which to me translates to "stop helping the high school wrestling world so much") you would be lost... so you may just want to reevaluate.

No, I saw them being yelled at by the lady in the front desk because ya'll goofed around too much. I think out of everyone they sent this year maybe they won... one match. Sure I could see you sending your whole team to state because it's a weak region, but I doubt they any of you will win a match at state the way you carry yourselves on and off the mat.. All you want to do is make it to state go two n out and party. Wow nice goal. And yes this is a bash.

If I get a few minutes over the next few days I'll put out an initial 2009-2010 preseason ranking.  I haven't had a good chance to look over the middle school guys, but I will include a few.  It will be a work in progress and I'll adjust throughout the summer.

Just so everyone knows; that was absolutely not me. I didn't pull a Dusty Stengel and make several accounts. So other people obviously have issues with kids getting off track.

And please allow me to apologize for going off in such a frenzy on the kids getting off topic on here. I am doing so right now. It is just soo frustrating to start a thread of your own, something that you want to know something about, and to look at it the next day and see that it has 3 pages of replys, and then only to find out its some kids saying that a heavyweight looks like George Lopez, or talking about someone running into a tree, or one of the shaws getting in the way of a picture. And I apologize to all the Tate's Creek wrestlers, coaches, parent's (or sisters), and affiliates. Tate's Creek has a good program and is definitely on the way up.

Seriously, I tried several times to ask nicely to stay on track and I was met with a reply of "well who's fault was that wernt at state. and theres plenty on here talking about the most exciting matches if you dont like what were talking about go back and read the other pages. think of them as reruns hahahahahahahahaha" (I took that quote straight from the MOST EXCITING MATCH AT STATE thread). I think Think TC wrestling has a good program. And has improved alot and they will be a threat next year.

And Kasey Hedges is a very good wrestler from what i've seen this year. I've seen him wrestle a couple of times.
