That will be a good one.  I am looking forward to JJ Jude vs Dusty Brown...

That's the same one I want to see.

Others: Norbury - Ervin; Whiting - Harlow; Proctor - Brown

Isn't this similiar as "Good Early Match-ups at State" now that the barkets hace been layed out :?

215  pace and chiba will be a good one  :-D

These dont necessarily have to be early match ups these can be at any point, assuming both wrestlers make it however far they need to for them to occur

Troxell vs Bryant should be a good one

bryant is good and has really stepped it up this season, but i think troxell has the best chance of anyone at upsetting myron at state. that being said, i dont see him and bryant being a very good match.

Hedges v Supe

Pace v Chiba

Logsdon v Osbourne

Jude v Brown

Brown vs. Olhman, I don't think this will happen though b/c Olhman will miss weight b/c he's biggest 145 I've ever seen!!!! jp

Johnson vs. Ervin vs. Slone

Bradbury vs. Leavell

Whiting vs. Croney

Kelly vs. Payne, I know Kelly would win but I just like to see Mark get put through PAYYYYNNNEE haha

Courtney vs. Ray

Zarth vs. Osburne

Ervin vs. Jakes vs. Freeman, really I just want to see Isaac win one.

Korey likes to slow the match down. Davis on the other hand just works works works til he finds an opening. For this reason alone I predict Davis will tear Shotwell up on his feet. I'm not sure how it will work out on the mat though. If Davis can just explode and put the match back on his feet he has a shot. Korey is a very tough top man probably one of the best leg riders in the state though. I think this one will come down to the wire.

For some reason, I keep wnting to see a Bernard Ray vs Conner Coyle match.

Bear, I don't think you have seen Korey Shotwell wrestle this year. He no longer rides the legs until he has a 10 point lead then puts them in and pins. Korey has given up 3 take downs all year, all in Ohio against studs. He is no longer a sophomore but a very seasoned wrestler who is highly technical and aggressive. I don't believe this match will be close.

Assume you were joking but Ohlmann will not miss weight...he is more disciplined than most adults when it comes to that.  To Brown's demise, Ohlmann will be there and he will win.

You cant forget though that bryant almost pulled the upset at the dragon but you are right that troxell will be a tough one for him and he really needs to step it up but i think he can do it.

also i cant weight for whiting to wrestle cause i dont think he will even make it to the finals with all the tough kids on his side but u never no

WOODFORD FANS VS ALL OTHER FANS :-D

WOODFORD FANS VS ALL OTHER FANS :-D

lol thats a match up we get to see every year

yeah i remember that will did get bradbury to his back, but if i remember correctly, after that he got man handled. at least thats what i heard.

I was joking about him not making weight.

Davis vs. Shotwell

yeah i remember that will did get bradbury to his back, but if i remember correctly, after that he got man handled. at least thats what i heard.

From what i saw bradberry was stuck but i think will was to happy with his points that he got and he still needed to work he should have kept bradberry on the edge of his feet but bradberry did come back with a nice win.

3/4 Nelson,

I don't think you've seen Davis this year. He's given up 0 takedowns. zip. nada. No one's done it. Shotwell will have trouble holding Davis down. This match will be a lot closer than you think, and I'm confident Davis will win. Then he'll get his rematch with Thomson in the finals. Thomson will be scared.

Scared?  Bold claim.

Shotwell and Davis are both excellent wrestlers. I'm glad they haven't wrestled each other this year that will make it more exciting when they do. I predict Davis will win even though Shotwell has been wrestling some pretty tough guys in Ohio. Davis is pretty tough too and his speed and strength will be a big advantage. I'm certain his match with Shotwelll will be his toughest match of the year. Good luck to both of them!

bradbury was pinned for sure.

logsdon-osborne-zarth

Scared?  Bold claim.

Just my opinion.

Who has beat Osbourne this yr?

Does Logsdon have a shot at beatin him in the semis?

I know Logsdon has only lost to Zarth and pretty much dominated everyone else (pin, tech, or major.....besides Lenz who he barely beat at Super Duals).

zach salyers vs aron carr

ozzy beat zarth once and lost to zarth once both close matches, i would say osbourne dominates mack

cooper-logsdon will be a good one

Scared?  Bold claim.

That's not all that bold. He was obviously scared to death of him at regionals.

Real scared when he tapped the mat faster than he hit's duck unders.

Great post.... not really.

I doubt thomson was scared.  The kid was like 45 and 1 going into his match with Davis.  His only loss was to an indiana kid.

To say he was scared.... I would expect more from you Mama... your post's usually aren't on the level of your average high schooler.

You're right, widow, I try to be pretty level-headed, but Thomson was clearly outclassed, and I don't like how that match ended. And by the way, the only reason Davis hadn't already beaten Thomson is because he didn't wrestle at the Dragon.

but didnt davis punch him. and if so then davis shouldnt be wrestling in state.

again this is only what i have been told idk if its true or not.

you think anyone did like it?  I know for a fact the North Oldham coaches Fulk and Zeppa didn't.  Me and a group of OC parents were standing right behind them during awards and overheard them talking about.  they didn't like the outcome, the reffing, or the match.

i can't speak for Thomson, but i did see that Davis acted like an immature kid, not a state champion, smirking and mugging at thomson when they got awards.  he may have gotten a raw deal, but man up and deal with it.

so what happened in their match?

read the posts under region5 it explains it all.

In a nuthsell two good wrestlers squared off, got violent with each other, and didn't have a good ref to control the match.

end result one got illegally crossfaced, and the other got 2nd.

One choked his opponent so blatantly that people were yelling from across the gym that he was being choked while the ref just stood there and, yes, didn't ref properly. The other one crossfaced his opponent too hard, which should have been good for a point, not ending the match.

was it a close match?

was it a close match?

already discussed under region 5 thread.  it makes sense for you to go read it.

i read it and all anyone said was davis was winning, i didnt see a score or any detail of if the match was close

119 Zarth-Osbourne-logston and 160 Courtney-Walls-Ray

I guarantee walls will get ray pinned before its done and over with. Personal i think Courtney will moop the floor with Ray.

I haven't seen fahy from trinity wrestle this year. I heard he's good tho

Me neither but that is what all the fuss is about

Dan thompson wont beat tyler grimm

No, it wasn't close. I don't remember the score, buy Davis dominated.

I'm gonna give you a hug tomorrow. lol

9-5 when it ended.

so thats prolly 8 to 4, davis having 4 takedowns, then both of them being awarded a point for the calls

I'm gonna give you a hug tomorrow. lol

Look forward to it. I'll be the one in the playboy bunny ears and flannel thong.

2 of thomson's points were from a reversal.

2 of thomson's points were from a reversal.

OK widowmaker we get it you're right Thomson got a reversal. Thats a hard bone to hold on to though. I missed it becuase I blinked and Davis already had reversed again. From my computations Thomson had control for .45 seconds! I'm not sure he ever had control because it looked like they were rolling and the ref gave him a reversal. But you're right he got two points. The only other time Thomson had control is when Davis started down at the begiining of the period. That's when Thomson put in an illegal headlock, tried to choke Davis and the ref ended up awarding Davis a point. I hardly consider those two occasions worthy of saying Thomson was holding his own against Davis

I'm curious what you think was Thomson's finest moment in this match. Was it the illegal headlock and choking, or the reversal and half a second of being in control, or not getting up and finishing the match. We'll never know who would have won that match if it was completed, but from the way it was going before the ref stopped it I wouldn't have been betting on Thomson. Thomson won the match the only way he could have!

I'm gonna give you a hug tomorrow. lol

Hey, Danger. Good to talk to you at State, and thanks for the hug.  :-D Be sure to stay out of WalMart!

I'm curious as to whose jock you and your wife are going to hang off of now that Davis is graduating?  What will Kywrestling.com be like without you and her constantly reminding us of how awesome and great Justin Davis is?

Thanks for posting that widowmaker. I thought I was the only one that was sick of their dribble. I seriously don't understand why they have such a complex. That being said, JD deserves his props.

You're right, he absolutely does.  He was an animal at state.  Hands down.

But I am tired as hell of the bald guy and flannel panties always jumping up for the kid.  it's a little weird.

I'm not at all curious whose jock you are hanging on widowmaker. And perhaps you might want to restrict your comments to wrestling which is what mine were about. I guess you didn't have a response to my comments on the wrestling match since you chose to insult me instead. Incidently I jump up and down for all the kids on our team not just Davis. Davis just happens to be the one doing well these days. We are expecting big things in the future from Nyitrae, T. Rupp, J. Rupp and Boroff to mention a few. And when their time comes you will be tired of me jumping up and down for them. And if your boy moves up from 5th to 1st I'll be glad to give him kudos too!

Seems harsh to criticize people for applauding a champ on their team, but I'm new on here. Maybe I don't know what the site is supposed to be about.

Widowmaker and Titlfor3, I don't know what teams you follow, but I guess you look at the sport differently from the way I do. I've been involved in wrestling for about 10 years. During that time I've always cheered on and celebrated the members of the entire team. And I pay attention to wrestlers all over the state and celebrate them. I've posted many comments about Harrison Courtney from Woodford and, in the past, Anthony Bailey from Ft. Knox, Caleb Wood and John Wolsifer from Fern Creek, and Keith Lageman from Connor. Off the top of my head, those are just a few I've enjoyed watching and applauding.

Apparently you don't realize Justin Davis was Eastern's first state champ since Derek Sawyer in 2002. Now he's the first repeat state champ since 1981, more than 25 years ago. He's also one of several kids on the team who has been "adopted" by all the active parents. The fact is, some team members never have a single family member see them wrestle. Add to that the amount of posts on this site over the last three years that pooh-poohed his ability, criticized him, and wrote him off -- why wouldn't I feel someone needed to point out his accomplishments?

Yes, you'll see an end to posts about J.D. after this year. Before J.D., it was Robert Smith and Ben Rupp. After this year, who knows -- but I'm always going to celebrate the boys from Eastern who work hard and strive to succeed. Sorry that's tiresome to you.

Well put MatMama.  I usually don't agree with a lot you say, but on this one I do.  I'm personally not a Justin Davis or Eastern fan.  I know the years that I coached, when I watched Justin Davis, his "antics" or the way he carried himself seemed to be cocky, but then again, I don't know the kid, so I can only judge what I see and not what I know.  However, he deserves his recognition for what he has accomplished.  I think it's great when parents back all the wrestlers on a team, not just their kids.  I know from personal experience that doesn't always happen.  I was fortunate to have a group of 2 or 3 parents help me out with all of our kids when I coached at Doss.  Outside of that core group, we had many kids whose parents never saw them wrestle.  I can remember times when I had to leave work Friday night / Saturday morning, drive all the way to the West end of Louisville to pick kids up, drive back to the South end to Doss to pick up other kids, then drive to tournaments in other counties.  After the tournaments, I would drive kids back to the West end and then drive all the way back home to the East end.  If I couldn't do such, then that group of parents always had my back.  That's just part of it.  Often times myself and that core group of parents would buy wrestling shoes and headgear for some of the kids because if we didn't, they wouldn't be able to wrestle because their parents wouldn't purchase those items for them.  These kids became like family to me and I can see where the same thing has happened to you not just in Davis' case, but all kids on Eastern's team.  For that I applaud you.  I can also say, I know of many other times you have posted of other wrestlers and their abilities on this website so people can't say you've limited your comments to Justin Davis.

Thank you, Dragon. Sounds as if you experienced a lot of the same things the Eastern family does.
