Question??

Topic ID: 5040 | 9 Posts

Before I ask my question I want everyone to know that I am totally in favor of having a random draw for the state tournament. I think there is no way we could ever seed this tournament. With that being said I really think the random draw is being tampered with or our RANGER is just psychic on his 1's and 2's. This year we only have three weight classes that the #1 and #2 guy will meet before the finals. How with a random draw did this happen? 103, 140, and 189 are the only weight classes that the top two meet before the finals. I could totally see 8 maybe even 9 on a lucky draw being on the opposite side but definetly not 11. Maybe they seeded #1 and #2 and then just drawed everyone else, with the exception of these three weights to try and justify the RANDOM DRAW. Just Questions?? What are your guys opinions???

Toss a penny 10 times.  Believe it or not it probably wont be 5 tails and 5 heads.  Stats like these get more accurate when you start dealing with bigger numbers.  If we randomly drew 100 weight classes, it probably would be a little more consistent.  Dealing with just 14, it is easy for the toss to lean more towards one side.  With this said, I dont think there is any conspiracy with the random draw.

There was a 2nd gunman :-o,  JFK

what old140 said.  simple statistics.

I think it would be best for Kentucky to try to have the best two guys in the finals.  Seed the top four as best you can.  Being in the finals is a trip.  If your the second best kid you earned the right to experience that.  Kentucky is not a very deep state.  Top four is plenty.  We will always have the 3rd's are sometimes better than the seconds.  Kids peak and get mentally focused.  Some kids are tour wrestlers.  Just be nice to put effort into TRYING to make the most exciting finals.

So who are the 1 and 2 seeds for each weight?  How do you determine?  AT 103  who gets the 1 Fahy?  He hasn't wrestled Paden so.....  Ruschell hasn't wrestled Paden  so who would determine who was 1 2 and 3?  I agree seeding would be a good idea but how?????

The number 2 and 3 seeds would be in the opposite bracket so poor old number 4 gets him, but not until the semis.  As a TJ Ruschell fan I am quite pleased with his draw.  As a matter of fact, I am quite pleased with Ryle's brackets altogether.  We have a few crummy weight classes but overall we came out smelling like roses.  Not right after practice though.  Saturday morning this year the Raiders will be moving forward in the point standings not in neutral.

I've never bought into the conspiracy theory although I've had some very smart guys give me pretty compelling arguments.  Again, I don't think it is anything but random, but as a statistician I think things look awfully nice this year.

to be honest, yeah the 1 and 2 guys may have been separated nicely this year, but i think there have been A LOT more brackets that are really uneven. maybe i am biased, but look at 125, wow its a mess.
