based on the new rankings, and the predictions at state, who do you guys think is the most underrated wrestler in each weight class?
underrated

david dickson expect great things next year will be beastly
I'm biased, but I'd say Kiel Dodd at 171. He won the Region, but Menard is ranked above him, even though Kiel beat him in the final and is 3-1 I believe on the season head to head. How many other one seeds are ranked as low as 15?
125 St. X Kyle Honeycutt: Won region 4 without anyone scoring a point on him until he let Gilispe go with :20 left in the finals. The kid dominates his region and is ranked 12th. He will place, no doubt in my mind.

There are a few lower than Dodd. I found 2 @ 103 and 1 @ 130 pretty quickly. BTW, Menard is ranked ahead of you, just predicted to win 1 more match based on his draw.

Most of the Region 3 #1 seeds are ranked below 10th. In fact there are 2 who are ranked 19th (112) & 25th (HWT). I'm not saying it's not justified, I'm just saying there are others ranked low. There are a fe of weight classes where all 4 of a certain Region's state qualifiers are ranked higher than another Region's #1 seed. It does happen.
I wasn't trying to criticize or anything like that. Based on the subject of "underrated" I felt I should speak up for my guy...that was all. I see the others you are mentioning and agree that it does happen. Ranger, I also get what you are saying about Menard and Dodd, and how the draw is affecting their positioning. Trust me, I get it...but as one of his coaches, it's my job (isn't It?) to go to bat for one of my guys.

Absolutely. And I didn't take offense to your statements. Just explaining. Hey, I've been a Fern Creek fan for a number of years (back to my Lousyville days ) and look to see more of those guys at the top of the rankings in the future.
Hitchings at 119

As much as some of the kids get on here and mudsling, just wanted to make sure we understood each other. Glad to hear of your support.
austin jaggers holy cross not big underated but may upset someone

WOW! You consistently post the stupidest posts on this site... It clearly states in the post, that you quoted, "until he let Gillespie go with :20 left in the finals"

I have to put Luke Ervin in for this. I know, an Ervin under rated but the general opinion seemed to be handing Johnson the title. Ervin wrestled a near perfect match
And pulled it off when most counted him out.
You couldn't have said it any better ghost. Luke has the heart that is unreal. No quit in him.

all three Ervins won state titles tonight
to be honest i think thats what pushed him to win...he couldnt be the only irvine not to win a title.
It was a great job by him. But man i wish there would be at least one of em that arent amazingly good!
that would give the rest of kentucky a chance to say they beat an ervin from union county wouldnt it
that would give the rest of kentucky a chance to say they beat an ervin from union county wouldnt it
exactly...
I believe it's a birth right, if they don't get a title they have to change their name to smith or jones. Seriously those boys train super hard and have great coaches, it doesn't to be born wearing a singlet either
I agree that Luke Ervin was underrated. Someone on here a few weeks ago said Luke never impressed him. I'm glad he made it.
I also think Harlow was underrated. He was my pick for HWT champ. Everyone was so sure Whiting was going to take it. I KNEW he wouldn't last year, and I was pretty sure he wouldn't this year either.
Garth Yenter for sure. He definitely got busy this weekend. He pulled two big upsets against Bracco and Reburn.
trey gentry from woodford lost to whiting first then came all the way back and got 4th losing to whiting again he was really underrated

HWT Ryan Harlow for JC.
jake lee
Yenter beat Bracco AND Reburn? thats awesome :-o
Yeah but i thought Bracco would place higher. He placed i think 7th. I dont think anybody expected Pat Milford to be in the 103 finals.
Isaac Thomas. Ranked 9th going into state and made the finals. Nobody gave him or his little brother a chance all year. Keaton Thomas hurt his knee, if not for that I guarantee he would be top 4 at 112.
after watching Pat all year, ecspecially at the end. i thought that if he didnt have Fahy or Paden on his side that he would end up in the finals
Yeah he's a good wrestler. And is only a junior. So watch out for him next year!
i would say one of the most underrated wrestlers of the state at this time would have to be jj jude. i could see him being a 3X'r if he's aloud wrestling his senior year idk the details on that though.

Why couldn't he wrestle his senior year? Is it an age thing?
i think that i was somewhat underated cause i havent been ranked in the top 15 all year and ended up placing

isn't he a 17 year old freshman??? wow theres no way he is wrestling his jr or senior year .

no he just turned 16 in dec.

I'm fairly sure that he will not be allowed to wrestle his senior year, but it sometimes slips. I know that Zach Cox (Last years Mr.Baseball from PRP) should not have been eligible to play his senior year, but he got away with it. I know that this post is likely going to upset some PRP cats on here!
But anyways, I think that we aren't supposed to be discussing eligibility issues on this site, so we should probably just drop it.

i think he will be able too becuause he will turn 19 in dec.. after school and the season has already started.. im not really sure if it still works that way or not.I'm fairly sure that he will not be allowed to wrestle his senior year, but it sometimes slips. Im pretty sure (and this is not a comment on JJ Jude, but a KHSAA rule, as I have urged this discussion to stop) that the rule is if you turn 19 before or after one day during the month of October, not too sure what the day is but im about 85% sure that it's sometime during the month of October.
august 1st is the deadline
