Jordon Whiting losing to Croney might be a better one to me.
i would go with Johnson, he's a defending state champ
The fact that Johnson was a returning State Champ makes it pretty big, but I dont think anyone saw Croney beating Whiting
didn't whiting beat croney by 1 or 2 pts earlier this year?
croney upsetting whiting was much bigger
Houston Croney beat Whiting last season @ the Eastern tourny. so it was not much of a surprise to Colonel fans.croney upsetting whiting was much bigger
josh lewis beating ryan houchens...big upset and a rematch...
How did Jordan whiting take his loss? I know someone replied to this but im not sure if it was sarcasm or not...
Whiting took the loss well. He grabbed croneys arm and held it up until all the fans gave croney the applause he deserved. No sarcasm in the comment.
My point of view was that he took the moment from Croney. Raising his hand as if it was his win to give. He should have just shook hands and walked off the mat with some dignity. I thought his display was garbage.

I kind of agreed after reading the last post but I think we all hate Jordan so much we're just looking for a reason to be mad at him.
I never knew who he was until Friday. I may be wrong, and hope I am, but even if I knew nothing about him I would have thought that display was...well disingenuous. Maybe he thought it was right, but it was making Croney's moment about him.

Totally agreed. I probably would have snatched my arm away from him or pushed him away if it was me. But he was probably so happy he didnt even think about it.

yup
He lost. He held the other man's arm up. Quit slamming him. Way to much negative on here.

Nobody is "slamming" anyone, merely stating an opinion. The fact is that not too many people like Whiting and a lot of people viewed his act as selfish, or cheesy in my opinion. I think he just couldn't handle not being in the spotlight so he still found a way to make it about him. Thats the way it seems.

Come on! Have you seen him wrestle?

i dont think he was trying to take anything away from croney, i mean hes about to get more attention then a drop of honey in a ant farm when he goes to ohio state for football

if he starts...
if he starts...
i mean OHIO State is a premier football program in a major confrence and they were recruiting him so he has to have something good to offer in terms of talent. btw. Big 10 is way overrated

Jordan Whiting definitely will NOT get much attention at all at Ohio State at least until his Junior year. Come on now, I absolutely hate Ohio State and they play in the most over rated conference in the history of conferences (I would take the WAC or MAC over Big 10 anyday) but its still Ohio State, the one good team in the conference.
by all means i was not saying that Whiting would play his first year BUT they gave him a scholarship meaning he is a very special athlete. and i'm glad that somebody finally agrees with me about the BIG 10 being overrated in football
lol so back 2 upsets

Oh my goodness. My Algebra teacher is from Ohio and is the biggest Ohio state fan available... I rag on her for the Big 10 being so over rated every day. Didn't they go like 1-4 in bowl games this season?
It is hard to wrestle when your opponent is just extending there arms out and pushing you off??? Jordan Whiting actually used moves this year! The close matches he had were Browder from North hardin a win 2-1 and the loss to Croney who did nothing the whole match then fell on whiting or was it a slip??? Anyway my hats off to the bryan station heavyweight who actually tried some shots wich usually were snapped down and Jordans strength and quickness were used to spin around for takedown!

Yeah, but didn't the Bryan Station heavy win?

How about you hop up off his jizzock? Guess what, croney won the match, and even if he did fall or slip doesn't that mean Whiting had far less superior technique to let a kid "fall or slip" on him?
You just completely made up a word. lolTotally agreed. I probably would have snatched my arm away from him or pushed him away if it was me. But he was probably so happy he didnt even think about it.

I dont want to hear bc as i recall you said "hopeth of the jocketh" once... lol
While not as major as some of the upsets mentioned, I was shocked at Cole Proctor getting pinned by Wilbanks in his very first match. He fought a long road back, though, and still placed. However, his last match looked sloppy. I wondered if he was sick.
Re: Croney v. Whiting: As Croney's coach, I was impressed with Whiting reaction. It seemed genuine to me, and not an attempt to take the limelight away from Houston. As for it being a suprise, well Croney did pin Whiting last year at the Big East, so we thought he could win. I think it was a great match with both wrestlers pushing each other back and forth, neither wanting to give an inch. Whiting's strategy reminded me of a couple years ago when the Paducah Tilghman's heavyweight Bryan Hall tried the same thing against Trinity's Mike Clark, wait until the last 10 seconds & go for the takedown, it worked for for him against Clark, but not against Woodford's Goodrich in the finals.

Well said. I didn't see this as an upset, as I knew Croney was a contender. He was my pick for HWT champ. Whiting is a great athlete but not a champion wrestler.
To me, the biggest upsets were Josh Johnson and Ryan Houchens, then Cole Proctor.
ryan houchens got third place. he would have gotten demolished by bradford before the finals anyway. he got the same result.

Houchens got 4th. Both of his losses were to Josh Lewis of Trinity.
oh, well nvm then. i thought that he beat lewis for third, but lost to him earlier.
