Wrestlers going to Nationals

Topic ID: 5136 | 82 Posts

Right now there are only 7 Kentucky wrestlers signed up for NHSCA Nationals...

Freshman

Alex Murphy-  John Hardin- 119

Sophomore

Charlie Ammerman -Harrison County- 160

Junior

Myron Bradbury - Trinity- 112

Pat Milford- Paul Laurence Dunbar-103

Jordan Murphy- John Hardin- 130

Seniors

Jacob Ilg - Campbell County- 215

Jacob Bradford- Ryle- 189

Entry deadline is March 27th. Kentucky needs a good showing at these tournaments in order to get more college coaches recruiting Kentucky kids. If you think you're a good wrestler then go to Nationals and prove it!

It would be nice to see all our state champions and top kids attend

Anyone going to the middle school nationals?

From Conner: Derek Wiley (1st @ 75) and maybe Darian Wolt. (4th @ HWT)

Derek will probably be wrestling 75 although he could very easily cut  and make weight at 70. and Darian if he goes for sure, will probably wrestling 185. Now this is just going by what I'm hearing. I'm not 100% sure on Darian thou, you would have to talk with his father, but I believe that in the end both of these young me will be going. I think both will have a great chance at placing if not winning there.

Heres the link to register:

Smoe other guys that will be there:

Dusty Brown(CC) that not for sure

      Korey Shotwell (CC)

      Ryan Kelly(SC) might be there

RYLE: Will Hogben is he going to be there

I imagine Harrison Courtney will be attending. All the information that I've received is saying yes.

Anyone going to the middle school nationals?

Luke Rearic (Lafayette) at 98lbs will probably go to Middle School Championships

Depends on number of entries.....Middle School was a bit thin last year

Spring Break....the beach and wrestling.....doesn't get any better !

Jake Lee (junior)

What about Fahy or Hitchings? Do they intend on attending?

Just added to the list:

Juniors

Terrence Demery-125-North Hardin

Seniors

Justin Davis-140-Eastern

what website is the list on  :?

Just go to the link I posted, click on the individual tournament and then go to 'View Event Entries'

High School Nationals Wrestling Championship

April 1-5          Grades 9, 10, 11, 12                Virginia Beach Convention Center

Because of the no contact rule in KY, I (Avery Zerkle) have been asked ,again this year, by several parents to help prepare their wrestler for this upcoming event. I also plan to attend the tournament as well as help coach the kids. In preparation for the tournament I plan to hold practice the first four Sundays in March. These practices will be very intense and consist of 10-15 wrestlers that are training to obtain an All-American status at this tournament.

If you are interested please contact me ASAP so that I can reserve a spot for you. For coaching purposes, at the tournament, one coach can only manage 6-8 wrestlers. I have asked my assistant coach, Matt Koz to help with the training and coaching for this years events. So, a group of 12-16 wrestlers would work well for a great training environment and personal attention at the tournament.

These are the wrestlers that are participating thus far:

Korey Shotwell, Dusty Brown, Jake Lee, Jake Ilg, Myran Bradbury, Josh Johnson, Jordan Murphy, Alex Murphy,

There will be numerous state champs and placers attending.

Training Sessions:

**All sessions will be on Sundays from 4:30-6:00pm at Cincinnati La Salle High School

the wrestling room is in the De La Salle Center behind the school.

You can get directions from my web page. www.goldencrosswrestling.com

March 8th , March 15th, March 22nd , March 29th

Cost:  $225

This includes 4 training sessions, weight management plans, and coaching during tournament. This cost will also help cover my expenses for the trip: Flight $250, 4 nights hotel $500, coaches pass $100, food and misc. $100.

Please contact me to hold a spot and for further questions.

Another Kentucky kid on the list:

Sophomore

Hardy Hendren-145-KCD

There are only 10 kids from Kentucky signed up to go to Nationals, entry deadline is the 27th, Kentucky needs to make a good showing at these tournaments if it ever wants to get respected on the national level.

ay myron how bout a national title homie

it's funny to see myron listed as junior varsity.  :-D

lol. ill try to bring one home. we got fahy, hitchings and the ervins goin too. there is a good chance someone from kentucky will bring home a national title. btw junior varsity is pretty accurate, im a junior and i did wrestle varsity...

Zyrcle is legit fellas he has helped out a lot of northern kentucky guys and will be more than happy to help you out. I suggest if you are serious about this to sign up ASAP. :-D

josh johnson and marcell haynes are probably going

josh johnson and marcell haynes are probably going

Glad to hear Johnson may be going.  Even though state did not go as planned for him, he is still one of the states best.  Haynes looked pretty good at state as well.  I wish them along with everyone else that goes the best of luck.

it would be interesting to see if luke or josh placed higher at nationals.

aha good luck man to you and your team mates going

Looks like the Trinity kids are making it a personal goal to get Kentucky wrestling some recognition, along with the rest of these guys. Good luck guys, and you have already made us proud.

3 more kids on the list  :-D

Freshman

Luke Troxell-Wayne County-112

Sophomores

Connor Coyle-Ryle-160

Felix Casa del Valle-Seneca-112

Just 20 more days to sign up

You can add a couple more wrestlers.. Houston Croney(HWT) and Dee Leavell (112) from christian county...anybody working out for nationals around the western ky area...willing to travel on the weekend

Im pretty sure that Tyler Pace from Wayne county is goin at HWT

why is he goin HWT insted of 215?

WOW TYLER PACE GOING HEAVYWEIGHT???? I could kind of see it happening. He's pretty big i wonder how much he cuts for 215. Will if he is i would put on a lot of muscle!

Another one on the list:

Junior

Alex Henderson-Seneca-130

I liked watching Henderson wrestle.  Big lanky kids are always fun to watch.

want to talk about tall lanky kids, what about that moore kid that wrestled 135? he was the tallest wrestler i think i have ever seen.

Union County is training for the offseason 4 days a week (YMCA youth program) and Im sure some might be training on the weekend so give Coach Walls or Ervin a call. Many guys from the southern indiana teams last year trained last summer with them for the national tournaments they went to including people from Reitz and Reitz Memorial.

Brent Hitchings is now going to freshman nationals @ 103 lbs.  It'll be nice to see him compete at his right weight class.

can u go down weight classes for nationals? i thought u had to compete at the same weight class u did at state

Seniors must compete at the weight class they wrestled at state.  Freshman, Sophomores, and Juniors do not.

I would like to see Justin Davis, Hardy Hendren, Brent Hitchings, and Brad Hitchings step up and do well.  Not to take anything from anyone else that is going, but i've watched these guys for awhile and personally think they all have the potential to do some real damage.

Good to see other wrestlers from western ky, other than union county taking the next step for KY. Good luck Houston and Dee. I heard these guys might go train with the Ervins. Robert and Gary are good guys to learn from. Lets get a national champ and some placers. Good luck all KY wrestlers, make us proud. :-D

Bobby Bryant middle sch. is going at 142.

Matt Slone, Brad Stafford, and JJ Jude are going

Can anyone tell me what coaches are  going to nationals? Apparently I cannot be coached by any of my own coaches, so at this point, I'm not sure who will be coaching me...

Seeing the posts here- this is a helluva turnout for Kentucky!

Jordan Murphy is out.He tore ligaments in his ankle

When does it take place?

Sam Preston 165lb and Jayce Carr 119lb of Johnson County middle are going.

yea baby im going i promiss to represent kentucky well

:mrgreen:this guy is cool....lol

To get ever better then what you already are.  The first moment you stop trying to get better, you are getting worse.

I don't get this logic.  Some of the best wrestlers in the nation - including many who have signed with schools like Iowa, Iowa State, Ohio State, Missouri, etc. are wrestling in this tournament.  Frankly, it's a great tournament to start getting ready for the next level.  Too bad more Kentucky seniors don't think the way kids from other states do.

I know isaac ervin and dusty brown had to have shoulder surgery immediately after the season ended. austin palmer is waiting to get shoulder surgery. jake lee is injured and unable to attend. i am a little disappointed KY wont be represented by fahy and courtney but each kid and their parents have to decide whats best for themselves and they shouldn't be criticised for not going. i look for josh johnson, cory shotwell, and myron bradbury to be all americans (i hope there are more, i think these guys stand best chance at jr's). i am sure others in the underclassmen divisions stand a good shot. good luck to all.

I heard fahy broke his arm training.  anybody know what happened?

I heard Courtney was rehabbing a shoulder he hurt during regionals.

I heard fahy broke his arm training.  anybody know what happened?

not broken.  bad sprain.  in a splint and off the mat for about 2 weeks.

Good luck to all the KY boys going to Va Beach!

What's up with all these broken wrestlers.  :-o Wish all of the the best of luck and a speedy recovery.

Caleb Ervin, Timothy McKinney and Issac Thomas are going.
