No, it's not. It's possible, though, they would accept wrestlers who list their state championship place or regional place as reason for qualifying. The only official qualifying tournaments shown on the site are one that was held January 31 and the Connor Cougar Classic in  March.

As for attendance, Cecil Clardy, Russell Nyitrai, Dustyn Juvera, Austin Dicken, Tom Shirey, and Kyle Durbin are all going from Eastern. Maybe Hardy Hendren, too. He's concentrating on Nationals right now.

I thought Jordan Murphy was injured?

Yes, I did tear some ligaments in my ankle about 2 weeks ago, I probably couldv'e wrestled but the doctor said I risked permant damage to my ankle if I did try to wrestle. Im starting rehab now and should be back on the mats in a few weeks.

Its modified folkstyle, one 5-minute period and if there is no action on the mat after about 10-15 seconds they bring u back to your feet.

Yes. Hardy had a long recovery road ahead of him, but he plans to be ready to wrestle in the fall. Austin's injury isn't as serious. I think he'll be OK by summer.

Turns out Austin's foot isn't broken. He's going to Tournament of Champions. As far as I know, Tom Shirey, Dustyn Juvera, Austin Dicken, Cecil Clardy, and Kyle Durbin are all going.

I think that's pretty cool. It's going to be a fun time just from the magnitude of the event -- 2100 wrestlers from, I believe I counted, 25 states. Eastern is sending 7 boys: Cecil Clardy, Austin Dicken, Kyle Durbin, Dustyn Juvera, Tyler Lancaster, Russell Nyitrai, and Tom Shirey.

I think the USA wrestling tournament - Franklin Grizzly Classic (Franklin, IN) will have that many.  It will be pretty cool as it has Freestyle, Greco, and Folkstyle across two days and awards anyone who places first in all three styles.  Hopefully I see all of you out there tomorrow.

Dinubus, I know you've been critical of the AAU events, and I respect that. But come on. Seriously, 2100 wrestlers from 25 states are going to be in Franklin, IN?

Actually there were over 3000 wrestlers in freestyle alone and there were plenty of new wrestlers their on Sunday just for the Folkstyle tournament portion.  I cannot verify that there were 25 states.  I actually imagine there were only about 5 states represented.  But, all in all it was a great tournament.  Of course, there are lots of quality tournaments in USA wrestling.  The Regional National in Columbus, OH. on Memorial weekend will be very nice sized as well.  Every year there are plenty more than 2100 wrestlers at that tournament.

TofC weigh-ins are to night 4pm-8pm

I feel good about the experience for Eastern wrestlers. We had one placer -- Cecil Clardy at 92 pounds. However, all the Eastern wrestlers who participated held their own against some tough competition. Looking in the program at past placers, many of them are NCAA champs or NCAA D1 wrestlers.

It was a different kind or wrestling -- one three-minute match. That's it. You had to be aggressive and quick. I do think they could have managed time better. High school age wrestlers were supposed to start at 6:00, and it was, like, 8:30 before those matches began. Otherwise, though, it was cool. And Columbus is a pretty fun city to visit.

Dee Leavell placed 6th. Congrats, Hope to see him start 125 next year at Campbellsville!
