Who do you think would win if they faced off?
Harrison Courtney vs John Wolsiefer

Both at 160. Courtney as a senior against Wolsiefer as a junior is the comparison I'm making. I'll take Courtney in a close match. If Wolsiefer had wrestled his senior year then I would be comparing them as that. In that case I'd say it's a toss-up. Wolsiefer has the advantage on his feet, Courtney on the mat as we all know. Both have/had excellent conditioning so that wouldn't be a factor and neither were exceptionally strong.
Toss up. Same as Jp said Wolsiefer on his feet and Courtney on the mat. Low scoring match It'd be similar to the Cooper, Wolsiefer match but Courtney is better on the mat than Cooper was. I'd say Courtney in a very close one.
Even though I know everyone here has seen HC wrestle, i'm going to go ahead and assume that you've never seen Johnny wrestle? This is because if you've seen Johnny, any year, you'd know that he's far beyond HC. Not to disrespect or anything, but it wouldn't be close. He's just too much. He's been too much for anyone in Kentucky for the past 3 year. Just a shame he didn't wrestle last year.

I disagree with you there. I believe it would be a close match, have you ever seen Courtney get blown out? If you want to see domination, look at what Harrison Courtney did to this state as a Junior. Picture a bulldog taking a wiz on a fire hydrant. His senior year he wrestled pretty much up a weight class. He made 152 at the super 32 at the beginning of the season. So I would say it would have been easy for him to have went 152 at state this year, he would have dominated that weight class this year at state.
I see Courtney as winning quite easily. He was dedicated to the sport which is why he was able to wrestle all four years. This didn't seem to be the case for Wolsiefer.
Courtney would win 9 out of 10 and probably major him 3 out of 10.
Wow. As much as everyone likes to see the most dedicated guy win, it isn't always the case. As far as physicality, intensity, strength, speed, overall toughness, and, yes, technique go, Johnny runs away with this one. I've wrestled both of them. I honestly can say that I don't believe Harrison would score offensively.
This was John's soph. year. I think he was way better his junior year.
I would say that Courtney would win a very close match, much like his Banks finals match his fresh year. It's a shame Wolfsifer did not wrestle his senior year, it would of been him and Mitch in the same weight class more than likely.
i see john winning it. he out matches courtney on his feet by a lot more than courtney out matches john on the mat. john was explosive, so an escape would happen, not right away, but it would happen. courtney couldnt hit more tilts than john would hit takedowns in my opinion. three to four points separate the two, with john winning.
Wow what a silly question. But as you know I like silly questions.
I always criticized Courtney, but finally came around to his side his Jr. year. I don't thing anyone comes close to defeating him.
Wolfer was only impressive his Sophi. year. This was also the only year he defeated any real competition (Cooper). Who was his competition after this. Chat? An extremely overrated wrestler. A defensive machine who could keep a match close and pull out an unimpressive win at the end.
Courtney however was able to defeat both Banks and Thuenerman. Thuenerman was a takedown machine very close to the same level as Wolfer and Courtney still defeated him. He tore apart Saunders two years in a row. Who also was a defensive machine like Chat and Courtney was able to dismantle him also. Wolfer was not able to dominate Chat in the same way.
19 out of 20 times Courtney wins and he takes a loss when he is not at his best and Wolfer is at his best.
You have to have the heart to defeat great talent Wolfer did not have this. If he would have developed this maybe he is able to win 4 out of 10 on Courtney, but Courtney would have stepped it up if he knew he was going to have to wrestle a determined Wolfer.
Wow you don't know how hard it is to back a Woodford wrestler, but you have to give credit where credit is do and eat crow sometimes.
No way. And the say that Dan T was anywhere near Johnny's level on takedowns is insane. Until you've seen Johnny mop up everyone in the state and slaughter everyone out of state as well, you won't really understand.Wow what a silly question. But as you know I like silly questions.

And who cares if he had some not-so-dominating matches? That doesn't make him any less of a dominating wrestler. Did you see Courtney and Walls? Courtney is light years ahead of Walls but that wasn't a blowout.
Johnny is just too much. Sure, he's a wasted talent. But a talent none the less.
His junior year was most impressive he always pulled out the win. Hit that sweet inside trip on Scott Wheeler from Larue and always gave Dakota choate a whoopin or two. He did dominate mostly those indiana tournies though.
this is ridiculous, its like you all are looking for people to beat courtney. why not go ahead and start a thread, who would win Harry or Dan Gable. sorry but anyway to get back on this, harry would win. like i said a few months ago i think, someone who can is good on his feet wrestling someone who is good (all around in my opinion) in your all's view on the mat is going to win. back point are more points than takedowns. and even if johnny did take him down whats he gonna do next....cut him? to leave it up to harry to pick top and work him with tilts? do you all really think that if johnny got harry down he could hold him??? doubt it. i got harry 9 out of 10 the one would be if johnny was on his a game and harry was wrestling like he did against walls.

I just can't see Courteny hitting a tilt on Wolsiefer his soph. or junior year. John wrestled some stiff competition in Fargo for 2 years I believe. I can promise you that Wolsiefer has already wrestled tougher opponents than Courtney would be. Has Courtney been to Fargo?
Harrison Courtney. Once Wolseifer would take Courtney down, then what would he do? Get a peterson hit on him? Or Courtney would get a reversal, then work him on top.
The only way i see John winning if he can manage to take him down and let him up a few times
Not really. I know these threads are stupid. But why not comment them? We all know it isn't going to happen. But this is great because it keeps people thinking about wrestling and technique and knowing what's going on in their state. Nobody is taking shots at Courtney or just trying to find someone who is better because he's some kind of god. That isn't the case at all. It's just fun and it's enjoyable to discuss. No need to get all upset.

What did Johnny place in Fargo? Just going doesn't cut it.
It wouldn't have mattered if he went 2 and out getting pinned twice. That isn't the issue. He's too good on his feet. He's too good on bottom. He's too good on top. No way would he get tilted. No way would he get taken down. No way would he get peterson rolled. What did Johnny place in Fargo? Just going doesn't cut it.

My point is that Wolsiefer would not be concerned with Harrison Courtneys god-like status in our state like most kids who wrestle him (except for maybe Jake Lee), because Johnny has already wrestled many tougher guys than Courtney. If I remember correctly Wolsiefer left Fargo both years with a winning record which is nothing to sneeze at. At least he went.
Danger, you claim Harrison isn't a God or unbeatable (which is obvious) and then follow that up by saying that Wolsifier can't be scored on, in any position, by anyone in the state. It sounds like you're exalting John into god-like status. How bad did he beat you in order to make you that fearful of his wrestling?
That's not a shot at you, I'm genuinely curious. We all had our butts handed to us by someone.

Except Wolseifer and Courtney.
atleast in kentucky :-DExcept Wolseifer and Courtney.

yea its kool and fun to talk about it. but it goes for harrison all the time, or fahy, or zarth, or somebody thats on top. like this is the 4th or 5th time ive seen people talk about how, this person would beat harry or, this person is better on his feet. but inthe end harrison has proven to be the best so leave it alone.

Exactly the point that I've been stressing on these polls. Until someone is beaten, they are the best and noone can beat them. Like with Fahy and Courtney.

thats because who wants to sit around and talk about a wrestler not everyone knows? why talk about whether or not the 19th ranked kid will beat a 20th ranked kid in another weight. it's no fun, because not everyone knows who those kids are. i will sit around and talk about whether or not a kid on my team can beat a kid on another team with people that know both of the kids, but im not going to talk about it on here. i will however talk about wrestlers everyone knows, such as zarth, courtney, thueneman, or who ever else comes up for discussion. it just so happens, that most of the wreslters everyone knows, happen to be the best, or close to the best in their weight class. thats how they became known.
Well I think Johny only lost like one match his last two years if I'm correct. Johny vs. Courtney would be a legit match I think if anyone would give Courtney a match it would be him or Mitch. I mean I consider all of these guys to be on the same level because you see how dedicated there were even during the offseason. Johny I saw at an offseason tournament almost every weekend up in indiana ect. Mitch had a whole wrestling facility so I'm sure he had no trouble working during the offseason  Courtney of course probably works his tail off during the off season as well. All three hard working athletes with great technique, all had good conditioning, great talent, and the heart to win. That's why there is 8 state championships between the three of them. I'd pay to see these guys go at it, too bad Mitch is broken, Johny's probably out of shape which leaves Courtney left to win by default haha (Just a joke guys)

ok harry didnt lose any matches his last two years if im correct. you said these guys are on the same level because of there dedication, if johnny was so dedicated where was his senior year. not looking to fight just making a point. ok johny was at a tourny every weekend, courtney is in the wrestling room mons, and weds, has been since he was in the 6th grade, in the off season...all summer..all fall...wrestles the season only to go back to the room for spring and to start all over in the summer. not to mention he also goes to a tourny many weekends. and to make a point about kaseys post. ok so your saying it is more logical to talk about two wrestlers that will never meet....ever, than to talk about two kids one ranked one spot above the other, and both still wrestle??? i give up on you.
I may have been too rough on Johnny earlier. He was a very talented wrestler. I was just very disappointed in his not being able to wrestle his senior year. Since I do not know all the specifics to his situation, I should have made the statement that he wasn't dedicated enough. Hopefully whatever happened has made him a better person who will support the wrestling community for years to come.

same here i like johnny hes always kool around me, but the point is if for some reason these two saw each other in the street and just randomly started wrestling, harry would win.

Just to to think about it. Man, Fern Creek got hit HARD. Their 2 time state returning state champion didn't return, and then their state runner up (Deon Chaney) didn't return either. Then they had 3rd place Tommy Warren not return either. Man, they got hit HARD.

Just to slightly clarify...Fern Creek did get hit hard, but that was because of a lack of desire out of the graduating class of 2008. That team had so much talent and potential, but it seemed like the group as a whole kind of burned out on wrestling. And that's taking nothing away from Weixler, Branch, Mann, or Harden who all gave it everything they had...Johnny, Deon, Ben...those guys would rather do other things..

This was pretty much the point that I was trying to stress. Man, it really is upsetting. Like, I've been to so many camps and clinics where Johnny would just sit in a corner while technique was being taught, then when it came time for live wrestling he would jump in. Why even waste your money?
How about Courtney VS a 2000 Lb bull ? I say the bull.
How about Courtney VS a 2000 Lb bull ? I say the bull.
Yeah. I would have to agree. I think that even Courtney's vicious top game isn't strong enough to keep a buckin' angry bull down.
Ky10,
I didn't know Wolisefer personally. I just call it how I see it. While Johny was wrestling, I think after his second title he was very dedicated. I'm sure he was practicing during those weeks in the off season as well. I'm not questioning HC's conditioning, but you can't tell me when John was dedicated ( I think he peaked out his junior year so I'll say then) versus a 160 HC wouldn't be a good match. They both weren't cutting that much weight, they are very similar in many ways I just cannot see how either one could dominate each other like some people are saying.

when did i say it wouldn't be a good match. where ,show me. it would be the match of the year putting the Osbourne vs Zarth finals match to shame. two titans battling it out would be amazing. the argument im making is that at the end of the 6 mins (provinding someone doesnt get stuck, and its not a consolation match :-D) harrison would have more points on the board. I see what you mean about how like people are saying that harry would win 19-20 times, and that might not be true, a little exagerated, it would not be that big of a domination. but its home cookin, i think harry would win and thats all i have to say about this subject.
Okay Forrest Gump. lolthats all i have to say about this subject.

Johnny's junior year was right when he started losing interest. He started hanging with bad people, and his grades were getting bad. He told me that he was almost ineligible for his Senior year. He did the same thing with baseball, he just got burned out on it I guess. But while wrestling is a huge deal to all of us, he stepped his grades up his senior year from what I have gathered from talking to him.

exactly, Johnny saw that theres more to life than wrestling, Harrison saw that through wrestling he could make a better life. Harrison is the wrestler, Johnny wanting something more. when it comes to wrestling, Harrison is the better man. And i love Forrest Gump, such and inspiring movie.

Well when you pointed out Harrison's dedication it led me to believe that you though HC would smash John. That's my bad. I do think it would be a good match, I think HC would come out on top the majority of the time though. He just knows how to pull out the win. Ie. freshman year he beat Banks at OCSD, then lost to him at State Duals am I correct?, then when it really mattered he beat him again. So it goes to show even if John beat him the first time HC will most likely be the one to prevail. I don't think it will be a high scoring match though, both wrestlers know how to conserve their energy and most likely won't try many risky moves.

first of all, i said two kids in different weights, but one being ranked above the other at another weight. and second, i never said it was illogical to talk about that, or more logical to talk about hc or jw, i simply said it was MORE FUN to talk about two wrestlers a lot of people know of very well. try and up your reading game before posting next time.
I've reached OLYMPIAN STATUS! I quit lol

ok i know you said two kids in two different weight classes. so your saying that talking about Harrison and Johnny is not logical, just fun...??? i still think it makes more sense to talk about those two kids who are still wrestling, than to talk about two kids that, one wants nothing to do with wrestling anymore, the other going to college to wrestle, both are out of high school. your beating a dead horse. but thats not the subject, what would be better to talk about, the subject is who would win Harry or Johnny. of course my vote is for harry.

Ok. You're right. I thought it was one of those situations were you can't add the prefix like people think you can.

mac you make me so mad sometimes i go blind in my left eye and start to shake...
you said earlier this is dumb and no one should talk about it, yet now you are telling me to get back to the topic at hand. make up your mind man. anyway, toss up match, with wolseifers takedowns getting the better of courtneys tilts and reversals.

My mom used to warn me about things that would make me go blind but it had nothing to do with wrestling.
ok kasey, your right, im wrong. good luck next season.
yeah good luck to you too, maybe you'll make it out of the first period of of your regional finals match next year.

you guys really do need to stop fighting but hey iam its not my call to say stop so go ahead

it was a legit statement, but what i meant by nice try was nice try on trying to make me look bad, when the kid i got beaten by placed fifth in the state. he was the toughest 3 seed at the entire state tournament, of that, i have no doubt. anyone that says stephen supe isnt a good wrestler, is lying.

Wasn't talking about Steven, I was talking about you. You tried to make fun of a guy for getting stuck in the regional finals and I just pointed out that he placed 5th and you didn't make it out of the 1st rd of a 32 man bracket. Don't dish it if you can't take it.
It's been a while, so, ZING!!!
I honest to God, saved that one for you Danger.
