Families,

We are excited to announce that we will once again be taking three teams to the Virginia Beach Duals, while also offering open practices for all interested wrestlers for a small fee. Practice is open to all not just national team members. This is a opportunity for us to grow Kentucky Wrestling.

To make participation easier, practices will be held at multiple locations. Once all locations are finalized, that information will be sent out.

Teams & Events Overview

For the Virginia Beach Duals, we plan to take:

  • 2 High School Boys Teams

  • 1 High School Girls Team

In addition to Virginia Beach Duals, we will also be attending or offering opportunities for:

  • TOC Duals

  • Virginia Beach Individual Tournament

  • TOC (Individual)

  • ADIDAS Nationals

  • Freestyle & Greco State

  • Central Regionals

  • Other individual events throughout the season

  • 2:00 PM – Pre-purchased Team Early Weigh-Ins begin

  • 3:00 PM – Onsite Early Weigh-Ins sales begin
    (Teams only – must be purchased by team contact)

  • 6:00 PM – Regular Team Weigh-Ins begin

Team Expectations

Our goal is to field three competitive teams:

Team One – Boys
State Champions and State Placers
Our goal is to continue the momentum built over the past two years by reaching the gold bracket and finishing as a top-32 team nationally.

Team Two – Boys
State placers, alternates, and a younger group
This team helps build depth, develop future leaders, and continue growing the CKWA brand.

Team Three – Girls
Top girls from across the state
Our girls program has made major strides nationally, and we want to continue building our reputation as a national powerhouse.

Additional Wrestlers & Match Opportunities

We will have room for extra wrestlers on teams. While backups may not always receive the same number of dual matches, they will:

  • Compete in exhibition matches

  • Gain experience against elite national competition

Last year, backup wrestlers competed in six or more matches, and that experience played a major role in their development.

Costs & Payment Information

We understand cost can be a barrier, and we do everything possible to keep this trip affordable.

Virginia Beach Duals – Payment Options

$125
For wrestlers whose parents provide housing and transportation
Includes entry fee and practice fee

$400
For wrestlers needing transportation and lodging
Includes entry fee, hotel room, and transportation to and from the event

A non-refundable down payment will be required to hold a spot.

Communication, Weights & Commitment Policy

  • Entry fees and weigh-in information will be handled by the coaching staff

  • Parent communication will be done through a team app due to State Bill 151

  • Notice once a wrestler commits to a weight class, they are locked in

We have had issues in the past with last-minute weight changes. Because of weigh-in commitments (above or below), last-second changes cannot be allowed.

  • If two wrestlers agree to swap weights, this may be approved

  • Communication will take place with both wrestlers, their parents, and their coaches before any change is finalized
