When and where will the dual be held?
Ryle on Wednesday evening. Ryle has a decent squad.
Jeff has a good squad. They just went to Jasper Indiana and wrestled #3 Mater Dei and #5 Castle and #9 Bloomington North.
Jeff lost all three. Mater Dei 38-16, Castle 35-25 and Bloomington 40-20. Those teams have no weaknesses. I dont know much about Ryle but I heard they were #1 in Kentucky so I thought they would be awesome.
Ryle is a pretty darn good team haha
How is Jeffersonville's 125 and 130?
Jeff's 125 is a first year varsity kid that is about 500 on the year. He is quick and has some skill but lacks in strength. The 130 is a decent wrestler. He is also a first year varsity, but has only lost to very good wrestlers. Jeff is very good in 103, 112,119,135,152,171 and 215. Jeff is rated #20 in Indiana. I think it will be a good match. I know last year Ryle killed Jeff, but it was Jeff's JV squad. I hope we can give you guys a good match. We have a similar team to last years team. The only team we wrestled from Kentucky last year was Trinity. We won 32-27. It was a heckova match. We wrestled though without out Heavyweight who got 3rd in the state.
ryle has a very good team, with opportunities in a few weights: 103, 152, 189 and hvwt... would be surprised to see the other lose... if you don't get 6 points for each of the following i named... good luck!
LETS GO RYLE
jeffs 71 is their best kid id mark him down as at least the faveorite in that matchup
Ryle will be up for the challenge at all wt. classes.
I doubt Jeff will wrestle the 7th grader. So, there's 6pt.s in Ryle's favor.
why???I doubt Jeff will wrestle the 7th grader. So, there's 6pt.s in Ryle's favor.
This was kicked around in a different thread relative to middle schoolers wrestling HS in Indiana. I was under the impression that it was a no-no across the river so, don't bring any. But, if the match was in Kentucky they went by Ky's bylaws and the Indiana team forfeited the weight class.
That being said, Brock Ervin wrestled and won 103 OW at the Harrison 10-way this weekend in Evansville.
My guess is Jeff will win 103,112,119,135, 152,160,171 and 215.

I'll give you 103, 152, and 215. BUT 112, 119, and 160 are tough. 135 and 171 are solid as well.

Indiana high schools can not have anyone under 9th grade wrestle for them. That does not mean that they can not wrestle teams from other states that do have 8th or 7th graders on their teams.
This is copied from the IHSAA by-laws:
Participation Against Teams of Non-Members
Q. 9-3 May an IHSAA member school participate against a non-member school whose team
contains students below grade 9?
A. Yes, so long as the non-member school is not eligible for IHSAA membership or has been
expelled or suspended from membership in the IHSAA. (Rule 9-15) And if the school is from
out of state, the school must be a member in good standing in its state high school athletic
associations and the round-trip mileage shall not exceed 600 miles from the Indiana state line.
(Rules 9-15, 10-1, 10-1.1)
One reason that a Indiana school may not let a KY schools 7th or 8th grader wrestle in a match at their school in insurance reasons.
Ryle #1 in Ky VS J'Vill #16 in IN should be a great day of wrestling.
not sure if Jeff is good enough. Jeff will be leaving a couple of varsity behind due to injuries. I hope Jeff can keep it close.
I would say J'Vill's 135 Weekly and Pratt at 215 have the best shot at a win.
I'll take the Raiders.
Good Match. Ryle wins, don't remember score, but had big wins at 19,52, 60. Jville was very impressive and solid throughout. I believe each team was missing a key wrestler. Hall more than handle previously undefeated 19 from Jville. 71 is a big bad man, very powerful.
Ryle honored former champs, good night for the Raiders!
how did 112s and 103s look?
sorry, big wins at 19,40,45,60.

If my memory serves me right, I don't believe Ryle's 152 won.
Sorry, I need to finish reading all posts before I reply to anything. Merry Christmas
I was impressed with Ryle they are a very good team. I thought the ref was the most one sided official I have ever seen. I know Jeffs 152 had Ryle pinned in the first 20 seconds and he gave him a 2 point near fall. In that match he gave the Ryle kid 2 violation points for some kind of locked hands and it just didnt happen. Jeffs 171 had the Ryle kid pinned at least 5 times and I talked to Jeffs kid and he said he just kept looking at the ref to call it. The ref finally called it in the 3rd and the ref said the Jeff kid had an attitude ant raised the Ryle kid hand after the match. It was confusing. No one knew If the Jeff kid was DQed or not. Jeff 215 had the Ryle kid piinned 3 times no call. Also Jeffs 189 varsity kid was injured had he wrestled he would have destroyed the Ryle kid. I dont take anything away from Ryles team. They are very good and can wrestle with most in INdiana. I think they should get an impartial ref with no ties to Ryle. It was obvious what he was doing. He gave in the 140 match I think 3 violation points in the last minute to make it a major. Anyway enuff sour grapes. Good luck Ryle the rest of the way. Very impressive .
Ryle will be at the South Dearborn invite......... see if Jeff can get an invite if you want to see them wrestle again. I'd love to see it again. This time with what you say an "impartial" reffing staff.
jboy... this was a good match... not sure the match you were watching at 152, but clearly there was locking hands; defined as both hands touching each other while on top... that is the rule... it happened. match is over with, and I would say that there were clear discrepencies... if Jeff truly had someone out... sorry... know that from 215 down to 152 should be bumped down... all of those are probably wrestling up. also 135 was out... not sure your guy would have held with ryles 135

Yea I was watching the same 152 as you. I have watched this kid wrestle since 7th grade and never has had this called on him. I asked him about it and he said in no way did he lock his hands until the guy stood completely up. Anyway if the ref hadnt waited 5 seconds to bend down to see Ryles guy was pinned in the first 20 seconds of the match. I talked to all the coaches and all complained about the officiating. I know they are classy enuff not to make an issue. Next time we just have to beat them and take the refs out of the equation. As far as 135 goes he has wrestled two of the top 5 in Indiana and went into overtime. Normally when we wrestle Kentucky schools we dont send our varsity, we tried it for several years and it was embarrassing. Only when we wrestle like Ryle or Trinity do we send the varsity. I was impressed with Ryle. They are the best we have seen. We wrestled Trinity last year and I thought they were good. but I think this ryle team is better. I found out the 119 is 7th grader. I cant believe it. He is an amazing kid. HE wrestled a kid who was 21-1 on the season and made him look like a novice. Anyway it is hard to see when all the calls are going your way. I tell you it was a good match, but the ref was awful. He told the coaches dont question any call I make before the match or it will cost you a team point. It was clearly evident he wasnt calling anything for Jeff. Anyway I sound like a belly acher. Ryle won and I hope we meet again.
JBOY, you sound like my wife at that time of the month. Refs are part of the match, in KY or IN. Sucks to lose!!!
jboy... you are a good sport! i would agree (whether it is this match or any others...) this ref needs something to take his edge off... for some reason he always either gets on a specific wrestler and keeps the "case of the ass" with them... too bad. he kind of has short mans syndrome and needs to be the "boss". i did physically see the 152 wrestler touch his hands both times and thought the calls were appropriate; regardless of the ref that was there... good luck!
Jboy,
at the match, it was locking hands. The ref has no ties to Ryle other than being located here in NKY. If I remember correctly, Ryle was called on few stalling calls as well, backing up. and I thought Ryle should have takedown points but were not awarded. In the match, where he supposedly cost the major decision, the Jeff kid, was clearly stalling as he was coached to do by your coach. He was told to "center" and he hung on the edge of the mat so he could avoid any further points. He was busted for it.
Amazing how, belly achers belly ache when they are losing. with that being said, IN refs are just as bad particularly in the Madison area.
i wasn't done, sorry. On the other hand, Jboy, I was sitting as a neutral spectator but I do know how that ref officiates matches so I can somewhat feel your flow. I don't think every call went to Ryle, and it wouldn't have made a difference anyway. He made plenty of correct calls as well, as he is supposed to.
When the kid did not Center, as he was told, I knew he was going to get hit. Coach Struck did a good job on his weak spots by avoiding pins.
I will say this, I have seen that official not necessarily put calls to the favor of any certain team, but I have seen him dictate how the kid wrestles or the match itself. I don't agree with it.
In a 6 point match every call makes a difference. I was there and I saw how he was calling things. He was so slow to respond to the takedown in the 152 match. The jeff kid had him pinned for at least 3or 4 seconds before he started counting. In that same match there were 10 seconds to go in the second periond and the Jeff kid got two locked hands calls. He missed so many pins when the ryle guys were down. Anyway if you give Jeff an additional 3 points in the 152 and an extra point in the 215 for a pin and not a tech fall and the 140 major with the points awarded for violations it is a 1 point match. I tell you this if Jeffs 189 wrestles ther is a 12 point swing. Anyway I came away from the match with a great respect for Ryle. From 112 to 171 they are very solid. In those weight classes Ryle can wrestle with anyone. I will tell you soon, We wrestle Trinity in January and I will give you my opinion of both teams. I got a feeling you guys can wip them in a dual. I wish you guys the best of luck the rest of the year and hope all your guys remain healthy. Much respect.
