Sorry for the delay; I had internet issues last night.  Here is a Christmas (I don't care about being politically correct) update for everyone.  I probably missed a few results from the past week, but keep sending them to me and that will give me some updates for next week.  I will tell you, the 152 and 285 classes are turning my brain in knots.  I think a few of these weights are going to have a number of medals up for grabs to just about anyone when we get to Frankfort.  I will try to attach a pdf file later (gotta get to practice and then finish up that last minute Christmas "stuff").  Enjoy and have a great Christmas!

If Troxell, Supe and Cooper all stay at 130 that weight just became the toughest in the state and some 125 pounders are breathing a sigh of relief.

I agree, but I will tell you 145 looks pretty tough as well and 140 won't be that much easier depending on what moves happen in the next couple of weeks.

I expect cooper and/or supe to drop to 125 when they get the 2lb allowance. Troxell could win either weight, imo.

Are you sure Troxell could win 125?

Probably.  He already beat Palmer at 130 and this past summer he dominated Logsdon at BGSG (although I will say he looked about 15 pounds heavier than Logsdon did).

If he and Osbourne met it would be close but I think Luke would edge him by a couple pts.

Do you remember anything about the Osborne Troxell match from last year.

No I don't remember.  I know Troxell was 112 and Osbourne was 119 last yr.

Matt Hillard is staying 215

how is st x ranked so low after beating south oldham last weekend at floyd central?

Matt Hillard is staying 215

close match osbourne won by 4 I think good match but troxell was at twelve so who knows I would like to see a osbourne troxell matchup!!!

Keaton Hub beat Shamon Brown today at the Region 7 Duals.

Some big time matchups today at the Region 7 Duals.

At 189, Freddy Shadeh pinned Ed Reed from Bourbon Co.

Edward Reed pinned Derrick Campbell from Woodford Co.

Tyler Wright from Franklin Co. dec. Derrick Campbell

Sam Bryant m-dec. Tyler Wright

Keaton Hub pinned Shamon Brown.

Jimmy Lacy pinned Mack Logsdon.

Pat Milford pinned Camden Hanley

Zac Brown dec. Brad Milford

Josh Moss dec . Nick Lalonde 5-4

John Stout dec. Nick Lalonde 3-2 in OT pretty weird finish, got hit with stalling in ot as he shot.

Stephen Kimbrell dec. Chris Brunker 8-1 (I think)

Pat Milford vs. Hanley was not a pin. It was a dec 8-4.

Brown vs. Brad Milford was a very close match, 6-4.

Mack Logsdon was pinned twice at the duals, by Abney TC and Lacy Laff.

Mike Whalen HC beat Anthony Shirley Harr in double OT at the duals and I believe he beat Luke Rearic Laff at a previous dual.

Tevon Clay(Franklin Co) beat Joe Davis(tc) 3-2

Actually I think that score on the Milford vs Hanley match is wrong but it was by a decision.

hey pat wat was the score it was ur match right lol dude  8-) :-D :-) :-( :-o :? 8-) :x     :|

it was 11-7 pat

Fred shadeh of tc pinned edward reed at region 7 super duals

Ranger what are the things that are taken into acount as criteria for these rankings? I know that it is pointless to argue the 22nd rank kid beat the 21st rank kid, but what scenarios are argueable?

nothing is arguable.

Ranger takes the results looks at who beat who. Treats it as a seeding meeting and then uses his own judgment.

They are just rankings.  They mean little or nothing.  They are nice to look at and allows you to see who might be the top kids in each weight class.

As the season progresses.  There will always be a three way I beat "A", "A" beat "B" and "B" beat me.  When that happens he looks at who else that person has defeated.

You only know your own or your teamates wins and losses.  You have no idea of everyone Else's.  Ranger comes the closest to knowing all of this.  Don't ask why so and so is ranked here.  Just look at them and send ranger results and let him do his thing.

Grappler

Thank you very much for the input. Just wasn't sure of the way in which the rankings were compiled. As you said in your post, it is nice to see who ranger considers the top wrestlers. I guess I should not ask question and go with the flow. I find these rankings to be neat and I like to see the ranked guys compete. As you can see by my post count I am still young, but I have been reading for a few seasons now. So if I do sound ignorant at times, please pass it off as a lack of experiance. I will get of my soap box now and let people get back to their discussion.

Logsdon didn't wrestle well.  Was beating Abney by 7-8 pts and got pinned w/ 30 secs left (hiptoss) and then let Lacy pin him with a chancery (Logsdon beat Lacy last week).  He's got some work to do if he plans on stayin in the top 5 this yr.

Despite Logsdon's slide Woodford seems to have gotten back on track some by dominating Region 7 (as they should).

I don't think grappler meant for you to "shut up and stop questioning things", but is simply trying to impress upon you that rankings really don't mean a lot, especially when you step on the mat.  They are fun to talk about and do help us keep a handle on who the top kids are, but once the match begins it is just 2 guys wrestling.  Besides, I will be the first to admit that I am far from perfect.  I'm sure at least half of the people on this site can tell you about many results I have missed.  So read it, enjoy, and work harder to reach your goals and get your name higher on the list.

I couldn't agree more Ranger, I like to look at the rankings and board just to see who may wrestle at a given tournament to get an idea of nice matches to watch, but the rankings mean nothing by the time you reach states

He was beating Abney 10-6, before he got pinned in the 3rd period... And Woodford didn't dominate region 7, they didn't blow everyone out.

Woodford County's 145 is Alfredo Gonzalez not Patrick Blevins. Him and Stephen Kimbrell from TC beat Chris Brunker from Harrison County. And Stephen Beat Alfredo. But it was a good match.

there was no way the score was that close i looked at the score and cant remember the exact score but it was getting out of hand

The final score of the Woodofrd Co. Tates Creek dual was 34-32. Andrew Wright vs. Brian White was the deciding match.

there was no way the score was that close i looked at the score and cant remember the exact score but it was getting out of hand

Hey Ranger, Show some love to Boyle Co. on the team level. They have defeated a few teams and came away with a hard fought victory over Danville tonight.

from what i understand he won't be wrestling this year.  Hasn't wrestled or certified this year. ??????

Hey Ranger, Show some love to Boyle Co. on the team level. They have defeated a few teams and came away with a hard fought victory over Danville tonight.

I was actually impressed with the numbers and aggressiveness of the Boyle team when I saw them earlier this year.  This is probably a good time for a refresher on how I do these rankings and why Boyle probably won't show up for a bit.  First, the dual rankings are only for the top 16 and only consider those teams who will be attending the state duals tournament.  So even if you beat Ryle, Trinity, or Larue you may not end up on the dual list if you didn't qualify.  The larger team ranking list is based on predicted finish at the individual state tournament.  So in order to score points you need to have individuals ranked.  To this point I haven't identified any Boyle kids in the top 25 or so.  When that happens you will see them start to rise.

oh ok, man that sucks for him

I think this should be your disclaimer at the top of every rankings post.  Not that everyone will read it, but at least you can refer to it during the posts.

:-D

well you know him better than i do so maybe he wasn't cocky my bad call on that one

Hey Ranger, Show some love to Boyle Co. on the team level. They have defeated a few teams and came away with a hard fought victory over Danville tonight.

Boyles 215 will definitely be someone to look at in the future. He was an ox, aggressive, strong and a drive to win. If he just learns more I could see him being very good. They have alot of wrestlers that have the potential to be good he just stood out to me.

Nick Lalonde 140 from Tates Creek has beaten Eric Spahr.

the 215 is a football player thats been practicing about 2 weeks. he does O.K. but he really needs to get in wrestling shape. He finally realized how much different the two is.

For the 130, you have Nick Payne for SO ranked, Nick Payne doesn't wrestle anymore for SO 130, Nick Spangler, Freshman wrestles 130 for South Oldham.

Alfredo Gonzalez (WC) 16-6 Avery Ray (Sheldon) 145 weight class

who won??

Dustin Burchett of sheldon clark pinned 13th ranked codey smith of MCC at 285!!!

yea and it was out of bounds just about everytime and it was obvious too.the ref we had for that dual was choosing sides and you could tell so our team just forfieted the rest of i. then after they won the ref was over there in the middle celebrating with them.

I was not there to see that particular match as I had to leave early but I would say that the refs that were there did a great job overall throughout the long day.  I would find it very hard to believe that any of them would call it as bad as you say.  All the mats had short out of bound areas so its hard to believe that they would land out of bounds every time and would get credit for a takedown.  Are you aware that you can land out of bounds with the offensive guys feet inbounds and it is still a takedown?  Many wrestlers do not know that.  I also doubt that he would be celebrating with any team, as there were no refs there that are fresh out of a wrestling program and so wouldn't still know any of the other kids there.

Kentucky's refs have gotten much better at awarding takedowns close to the outer circle. But really, has anyone noticed how liberal it has become in college? I swear you can get a call until your in the 3rd row of the bleachers. It is certainly more in concert with freestyle scoring. Wrestle till the whistle is the only way to be sure.

Stop whining and wrestle. geez thats the problem with kids from kentucky. they would rather spend time on this website complaining and listing all the excuses for their loss than spend time in their wrestling room getting better. shuck it off or prepare for a long tear fulled season. no excuses play like a champion

jamie had a off day frm wat i was told he was feelin sick and heard that it was a very odd match

As far as calling takedowns on the edge in college or high school the rules are different.  At the college level just one foot of one wrestler has to be in so of course the calls look different

I say go like freestyle, you go out while on your feet the other guy gets a pt. Keep it in the center and wrestle, none of this bail out of bounds as you are about to give up 2pts.

agreed. don't leave the match up to the ref's decision. Make it obvious that you've won.

Do you think you'll have out the next rankings after New Year's Ranger.

brad milford 119 from dunbar pinned chris sikra dh in the 3rd round at harrison co.

The article posted in results says Sikra won the 125 weight class.  Are you sure you got the right kid?

Moore hasn't been to a tourney in Lafayette, so it couldn't have been Levi Shafer and he hasn't wrestled at 130 yet due to weight loss plan.  So not sure who you think you wrestled if you are from Tate's Creek we haven't seen anyone from there yet...good luck tho!

The kid from South Oldham only lost 1-0 to JC and beat Woodford County 4-1. This kid has potential. Thoughts?

It was a summer tournament at lafayette

Asa Odoms Christian County's 103 should definatley be ranked, and Dustin Thomas (130) is no longer wrestling.

Oh that would explain it then.  As Ranger has stated many times, off season tourneys don't really count for much.  But good luck the rest of the season.

Un Co Keaton Thomas beat Lar Co Shaquille Cox  last second win... it was a great match
