Hildreth from Campbell Co. it got him to the state finals.
josh young oldham co hwt the only hwt ever to leg ride me
Harrison Courtney is by far the best leg rider in the state. For one thing that's the only area where he is exceptional, his father has been working legs on him since the boy could walk and talk. The entire past three seasons that's been his only consistent position. He has gotten far with those legs and them alone.
I am especially proud that he has improved in other areas, such as winning the state title on a takedown, not back points. He's such a good kid and works so hard, he deserves everything he's achieved so far. He will be the only 6-time placer from Kentucky ever, plus a 4-time state champ!
No way, Hildreth was the better leg rider. The reason is thats the only move he ever did wrestling down and i mean the only one. Everyone he wrestled KNEW he was gonna do it, and he still used it to put good wrestlers on their backs. You have to have an almost unstoppable move if everyone knows you're gonna do it and you still do it and it works. Perhaps it didn't look as pretty as when Courtney would do it, but effective is effective.
Courtney may very well be a very good leg rider, but is way more versatile. I saw him wrestle a few times and i never got that his winning was dependent on riding the legs ... nor did i see him dominate anyone with them. And he definitely never used them to the extent Hildreth did.

Are you sure about the only 6-time placer claim? I know Robbie Clarkston from Conner was a 4-time state champ, took 2nd as an 8th grader....did he go from not placing as an 7th grader to runner-up as an 8th grader? I also believe Troy Cole may have been a 6 time placer. Not sure on either one, but I thought I heard they were both 6 time placers. At any rate, Harrison Courtney definitely has a bright future.

Seems like a dying art.
I'm not sure that there is a "Leg Team" in Ky.
Ohio still has St. X. who still rides legs well as a team.
You might have heard of this guy named Jacob Murton? I dont know how many times I saw him throw legs in and crank someone over to pin them. I think the only way he rode was with legs in. He was the best, no question.
I thought Murton was impressive with using the legs too, not just for riding but the best turks too!
Sorry forgot about murton. He is the best leg rider.

I agree that Courtney has become a lot more versatile. Now he doesn't have to completely rely on his legs. How about I say this, I think he's the best from the top position, now that Murton's gone.
I had no idea that those other guys maybe were 6-time placers. I had never heard of them before. Either way if you can place six times then you're awesome.
I agree that there's not really a leg team anymore. Campbell County throughout the years though has been consistently tough on top. I know Joey Hagedorn, who I wrestle with in college is tough as nails on top. I remember wrestling some Camels in high school that were pretty good too, such as Matt Reis.
