Best in the Bluegrass

Topic ID: 6422 | 36 Posts

So, why isn't Caleb Ervin in more of these posts?  Ok, Fahy, Hall, Bradbury, Josh Johnson, Hitchingsand a few others are all very good wrestlers.  The best wrestler in the state is not Fahy or Hall.  To my knowledge, Caleb Ervin is still unbeaten - including wins over a nationally ranked wrestler in TN and an impressive title at Mater Dei.

The best wrestler in the state is the reigning Cadet national champion from Union County.  He's not from Louisville, Lexington or North Kentucky, so he doesn't get the same exposure.  But no question, he's the best in the Bluegrass.

I agree but his name is on the list.  What do you want?  I think he one of if not the best wrestler but if you want to give him more press or more notice post the results from the tournaments so that everyone can see them. If you want to attach photos of Miss Kentucky along with it we can all see how truly blessed the Irvin family is; certainly not one a dimensional family.

Where did he win his Cadet National Championship?

He won Sophmore Nationals at VA Beach last year

With Johnson going down the way he did I'd have to say Ervin.  Don't remember him wrestling but a Sophomore Nationals championship, a state championship last year the way he won, and winning the Mater Dei tournament puts him over Bradbury, Hall and Fahy.

Fahy also won mater dei and bradbury is 3x time mater dei champion. only losing in overtime his sophmore year to elam

I'd agree with Ervin

Ervin hands down

Fahy didn't wrestle at Mater Dei this year.

No need to be a TROLL!!

Ive only seen Caleb Ervin and Josh Johnson out of all of those wrestlers. But from all the great wrestlers ive seen otherwise, id put Caleb Ervin with the best of them

Ervin hands down!!

Ervin

Alot can be said for Hitchings too, he has dominated his weight for two years now noone even close to beating him.

i would have to Ervin for now. but in a few years mark hall will be on the top.

My bad...I definitely should have included Fahy.

In my view, the best pound for pound would be:

1)  Caleb Ervin

2)  John Fahy

3)  Josh Johnson

4)  Brad Hitchings

5)  Mark Hall (Will be much higher later in his career)

6)  Bradbury

why ervin over fahy

Why not? It's his opinion. I'm sure he has his reasons just as you obviously have yours for Fahy over Ervin.

I think he was asking him to explain why he has that opinion.  Not saying he was crazy or anything.

Simple - Caleb has consistently defeated very high level and national competition this year.  That includes a national cadet title over the summer.  Frankly, Fahy has been in and out of the lineup this year, missing some key tournaments.  Caleb has won every tournament he has entered, which is all of them.  In two weeks I may change my mind and have Mark Hall as my number 2 wrestler, but I doubt Irvin will finish anything but the best in the bluegrass.

Where did he win his Cadet National Championship?

Again, where did he win the cadet title? Just curious. I have not heard of this one, if he has, that is Great!!

He won the NHSCA sophmore nationals last year in VA Beach

I already know about that championship. I thought maybe he won a cadet title I wasn't aware of. That isn't a cadet title. :-(

I think they just misspoke when talking about titles. That is only national title that I know of that Caleb won. Sophmores could be considered cadet I guess is what he meant.

its wierd to see him taken down

Wanna hear something funnyy.... That ref threw me out of Senior nationals for arguing my own call (no Coach went with me.. I got a wildcard bid)  Then almost threw me out last year at NCWA nationals for cussing cuz my thumb popped out of place. Wow. I never thought I would see him on a flo wrestling video.

Sorry, I mispoke here.  It was sophomore nationals.  My error.

However, to my knowledge, Caleb is the only Kentucky wrestler in some time to win a national tournament, at any level.  That has been my point all along.

Lol wow  :-D

Caleb looked a little lost there at the end. lol

Caleb's win at VA beach was very legit. His opponent was a returning national champion from the previous year at freshman NHSCA's. He beat some very tough wrestlers, he pinned in every match except for the finals and won the award for most falls. Its a huge tournament and we all had a great time watching our KY wrestlers compete.

This is my order:

Caleb Erving ~ Fahy: too close to call. Nhsca national championship Fahy: Beast of the east placer. Both have big wins over nationally ranked competition. This really is too close to call.

Brad Hitchings: nearly in the same boat as Fahy and Ervin. He placed 5th at the beast, he has big national wins and has been ranked nationally before though I believe he is on the honorable mention list currently.

Josh Johnson: As far a credentials go, Josh is next in line. He has been competitive at national tournaments like the Beast and Nhsca's. He did All American his sophomore year at VA beach
