Top 3 Teams and Top 4 Individuals at each weight...
Coach,
Is Brown going 215 again or HWT
That kid was a beast.
1 Laf Shamon Brown 12
1- Lafayette
2- Tates Creek
3- Franklin County
1- Lafayette
2- Tates Creek
3- Franklin County
Franklin County is very, very young. Plenty of talent, and they have been wrestling since elementary, but still very young. 2011-12, 2012-13 will be their years.
I heard Ken Holbrook from Western Hills was injured playing football. Anybody know the extent?

Curious as to who your top 3 picks are?
Brown will be at 215. He only weighs around 205.

I don't know enough about the other teams to post intelligently on this. I can tell you that almost all Franklin County's weights will be sophomores. I think there are only 2 seniors.
Franklin County may have 4-5 freshman starters as well, depending on some injury issues.
1. Woodford
2. Lafayette
3. Franklin

Fair enough.
I think last season the Region as a whole seemed to generally be on the younger side, with a few exceptions I know, and I'm not overly confident- outside of Lafayette- that this season, while improved, will turn out to be much different. This is why I believe Franklin County, even though they Are young, has a chance to possibly slip into that third spot.
You can never count out Woodford County.
You can never count out Woodford County.
Oh I completely agree. I think there are probably 3 different teams that could slide into that number 3 slot. I do believe that Lafayette is tops in the Region this year when you look at the overall strength they have in most of the weight classes this year. But everytime people start counting Woodford out- they seem to get it together and go on a roll, so you never Really know.
Ill take a shot at this....
1. Lafayette
2. Henry Clay
3. Woodford Co./Franklin Co./Tates Creek
Lafayette brings a whole lot back and I have heard they have added some pretty solid new comers.
Henry Clay will be tough with both Whalens, Tuggle, Duzyk, and Ogg.
Woodford County can never be counted out.
Franklin County is young but has some talent.
Tates Creek has lost a lot to graduation, injury, and kids quitting but could still be in the mix.

It could be me, but it seems that there are a few more wrestlers this year that seem to be just giving up and walking away from the sport. Not sure why? Who are some of the biggest surprises this year that seem to be getting out of wrestling?

I think that wrestling is so hard, that if your heart is not TOTALLY into it, it is easy to walk away.
It's alot easier to push a few buttons and entertain yourself than to actually work hard for a few hours a day
This is more of a compilation of information than a prediction. It is mostly gathered from Ranger's Rankings, a few from last year
Cody Sutphin is wrestling 130 or 135 and Gabe Mcilrath 135 or 140 by region.
Pharms listed at 145 from Madison Central is no longer wrestling.
Rodrick Agyeman for Franklin County is not wrestling at 119. He is at 130 and may go 125 after Christmas. I think you may be confusing him with his little brother Fredrick, who is at 125 and may go 119 later in the year.
Also, Darius Bucerzan is not wrestling due to injuries sustained in a car-bicycle wreck. Small possibility that he could come back late in the year, but not likely.
Hate to hear that about Bucerzan. He's a good kid.
Very nice job on the 'rankings' 171! Maybe everyone can continue feeding info to you and you can make this a weekly thing once the season gets going.
I'm glad you like it. Keep feeding me results and I will do my best. Can't guarantee it will be updated every week though.
Now that we are a couple weeks into the season and everyone is starting to get a general idea on how the weights are going to shake out- heading into Super Duals, any changes to your top 3 team picks compared to before the season started?
-I thought Franklin County looked pretty good Saturday at the Franklin County Invite.
Franklin County has no heavyweight, and I think no wrestlers at 2 other weight classes. They are stacked 130 through 145, but have to forfeit at least 3 matches at other weight classes.
FCHS is, hopefully, getting a heavy back from a football injury this week.
Bucerzan will be back this week also at 160
Maybe. Bucerzan is going to try to work out this week and come back, which fills a hole at 160. But he has tried twice before to come back and has re-injured himself both times. I'm close to Darius and his family, so I hope and pray that he gave it long enough to heal this time. But until he makes it through a tournament we don't know.

I hate that for him. I was just going by what he told me Saturday.
yea their has been a lot of quitter's and hurt wrestlers but anything can happen to predict this soon
I have very little knowledge of region 7 but if you go to the Raider Rumble and look at the scores Woodford County almost had more points than Lafayette and Henry Clay combined. So unless HC and Lafayette sent their junior varsity I would say that Woodford County is still the team to beat. FWIW I do realize the Rumble is a different format but that is a huge difference in points.

I know Lafayette wasn't at full strength this past weekend. And this is just my opinion, for what it's worth, but Woodford had the stars align a little to score more points that I would expect at a couple spots. When we get to the big show it may turn out different. Although I will admit that in a regional setting Woodford is looking stronger than anticipated.

Woodford wasn't at full strength either.
It should make for an interesting couple of days next week!

Not suprising. But missing a guy or two and missing returning state placers, including the #1 215 in the state, are different situations.
ubtappin - Woodford is scrappin back into the race, it is just a totally different team than we are used to seeing. A lot of weights with good wrestlers, but no absolute studs that we are used to from you guys. These guys still have some proving to do on the mat.

That is all true. About 8 days from now we should know a lot more.
Super Duals will tell us a lot!! Can't wait til Wednesday!!!
also, many changes are due from Rickman. Have seen several teams and weights are really off. Also not mention of the beatdown Whalen applied to Rearic at Rumble. I think Whalen moves up to the top 5. Lets see some rankings before duals.
The more information you send me via Personal Message the more accurate I can make the perdictions. Not much info coming straight in to me. Keep posting region 7 results on this thread as well. I will get something out before Region 7 Duals. Any information pertaining to wrestlers not competing this year, weight class changes, and head to head match-ups would be appreciated.
-BIG RICK
Lafayette had 8 starters out. Woodford County and Henry Clay looked very good though.
Franklin Co. beat Bourbon Co. but I don't have the final or individual scores. Try to get them later.
Regarding Franklin V Bourbon
Don't know all the scores, but I can tell you,
Bourbon won the following weight classes
103 Yeaples
112 pin Wright
119 pin Patros
160 forfeit Stout
171 pin Fooks
