Let's hear your predictions for each weight and teams.
Region 1 Predictions

Union Co.,Ohio Co.,Christian Co...TOP THREE TEAMS IN REGION ONE...
Ohio Co. should send 9-10 wrestlers to state. They have a couple new wrestlers coming in from out of state, one is a state qualifier from Virginia. Ohio Co. is looking at several first this year, FIRST Region One Team CHAMPIONSHIP, FIRST individual state championship, First Coach of the Year...
whos the first indvual state champion chase boone? i think third proly he migh be able to beat garth but not brock ervin lol
at what weight is Boone projected to win state at??? Coach of the Year?? Region 1 champs?? You should first start by setting realistic goals..
Pusher- I applaud the the enthusiasm but that is one huge mountain to climb. I would start with the smaller goals first.
When Ohio is at their best they are really good. But Union is a whole different sort of team. State qualifiers from Virginia aren othing to frown out, as anybody who remembers Zack Bontrager can testify. The big 3 in the region are Union, Christian, and Ohio followed by Fort Campbell and UHA. Then it goes just about everyone else. Dual wise Fort Campbell has beat Christian the past two years, but tournament wise Christian is still the better team with two potential state champs in Killebrew and Polley.
It took a week of trash talking to get anyone from region one to wake-up and respond to this post. IT'S ABOUT TIME !!! now we can get down to business. Chase... maybe 120. And,IT aint no mountain for a climber!

I can see boone in the finals just not winning..This time will Prlly be worst than the Fahy Fiasco Ervin Is on a whole different level. Boone would be lucky if the didnt get tech falled.
I really don't know what weight Chase will wrestle at. I'm just really looking forward to the season starting.I can't say anything negitive about Brock, he is a TOP-CLASS wrestler.
You can't diss Chase for getting pounded by a kid that has never had less then a major decision at the state tournament
if i was him i wouldnt want to join that list of people brocks
majored and start workin my tail off
Brock and Fahy are going to finish their career as two of the top 10 greatest wrestlers in Kentucky's history. It really isn't a matter of getting to a level to not get majored, honestly a major is your best case scenario. If you actually look at it Fahy, espically his freshmen year had some insanely tough kids on his way to the finals and just breezed past them like they were nothing. Pretty much if Chase makes it to the finals or gets 3rd at state this year it will be a major achievement. Is Killebrew going to be at the same weight?
Chase going 115 after christmas... Why don't some of you pick your weight class or a weight you know and tell us how you think that weight class will end up ?
Fahey could have his toughest competition this year. If Cooper from SK and Meyer from Grant both are in his wt. class.
Myers and Fahy could be a far greater match then Carr and Terry or even Bradbury and Hall
NO one in the country has majored Stephen in HS folkstyle matches not even Guillibon from PA ,And Stephen has been in the same class as Fahy in Fargo and left an AA coming in 6th as a first yr cadet while Fahy DNP as a second yr cadet and then duiring the season Fahy could not show up for their much talked about matchup at Moeller duals,No one in KY will ever Major Stephen more than likely he will never score less than a major himself .A kid can get caught and pinned but i dont see that happening either .
I expect it would probably be the best matchup ever in KY wrestling Stephen is ranked in every major nationally ranking and Fahy is ranked by some as well .Think they are a couple places apart in most with Stephen being a couple spots ahead .Doubt Stephen goes 132 maybe not even 138 but im betting he goes 38 and by the time everyone figures out what is going on ,no one will want to be there by state .

Killebrew will certainly be at 113/115 this year maybe even 108 depends. I heard Asa Odoms is back in the line up so we'll see whats goin to happen here soon.
Polley is going 138 also.
I always had respect for Asa and with him at 106 and Killebrew at 113 Christian County will be golden. Now they have alittle too much talent clustered around the lighter weights though.
O.C. line-up ?
106 -B.J. Miller
113 - Chase Boone
120 - Travis Baggarly
126 - Billy Moore
132 - Jacob Bennett
138 - Ryan Bunch
145 - Kyle Bunch
152 - Monnie Brown
169 - Aaron Fulton
170 - Michael Kennedy
182 - Landon Spurlock
195 - Bradley Easterly
220 - Dalton Brown
285 - Zach Farris
Wow they actually have a full team this yr. Interesting line-up for O.C.
I'd still say my team rankings from earlier in the year apply, but it is a bit closer between Christian County and Ohio. I wouldn't even bother working on individual rankings. I don't even know what Fort Campbell's is going to look like and neither does Coach Shingler.
FCHS...I can,t argue with your logic. You're usually SPOT-ON with your post and predictions ,as we have seen through-out the years. All I can promise is whoever we are across the mat from, when the whistle blows,we are going to wrestles as hard as we can. With every belief we can WIN!!!
so is there going to be a contender to unions run of 8 straight regional championships this year in western ky? I wonder how ohio stacks up with their lineup. it might be close for once!
If there is anything anybody has learned these past couple years, is never think you stack up well with Union. To beat Union you'd have to have some really good wrestlers from 152 up who will be able to win all those matches, and in the lower weights you have to have kids that only give up majors at the very worst. That is the only formula to beat Union and nobody really has that this year, the closest to it is Fort Campbell and they are still a ways off. Christian and Ohio have all of their best talent matched up against Union's best talent.
Changed my name to rep my college haha

What is Ft. Campbell line-up ? The one that lines up with Union Co.,better than any team in region one.
A couple weeks until the start of season. I'm excited. Is their anyone in Region One awake? This topic has had no talk for two weeks
I doubt anyone knows their lineups yet at this point. BTW, getting my reffing license and will be back in Western KY working some matches after graduating from UK in December. Take it easy on me guys!

I do not even know my own roster. When I know you all will know.
I brought up that they lined up better over the fact they are returning more talented guys in the upper weights then any other team with 3 returning region placers from 160 and up. But I am near the bottom of the list of who finds out what the final lineup is. Shoot most of the best guys won't be back until around 2 weeks after practices start anyway because of Football and Soccer.
How do you think Billy Moore (ohio) and Wade Willan (uha) will match up?
What's 132 / 138 classes look like?
Well personally I've only ever wrestled Moore, although I could ask David Sahms since he has wrestled both of them. With Wade you know what you're going to get, solid technique and really hard to score on. Moore is a lot more incosistent with his wrestling, somedays he is untouchable but other times he can lose to a kid who has no business beating him. Wade peaked around his freshman year and really hasn't improved much sense then, reminds me alittle bit of a Zach Sanders in that regard, you know he is around 5th or 6th in the state at all times. From experiance I know Billy Moore is really solid on top but I don't know how Wade's bottom is, espically against leg riders. However, I would predict Billy Moore by a score of about 4-2.
what's your TOP 4 at 145 ?
145
1. Polley
2. Wynne
3. Bunch
4. Hall
5. Ervin
6. Haywood
It's really hard to rank these guys. I don't really think regional seeds are going to matter because I could see any of the top 5 winning. Haywood is a good wrestler, but i just dont see him beating any of these guys consistently.

Don't quote me on this cause I am going purely off of memory but didn't Heywood beat both Wynne and Bunch last year? It was from weights being moved around I know. I have also learned that despite what you might say about Heywood's talent the kid has way too much heart and wins his matches off of just pure strength of will pins
I checked, he stuck Bunch in the first period, never wrestled Wynne.
I'd put it at
1. Polley (big weight cutter though)
2. Hall (never count him out in the postseason)
3. Haywood (never count him out ever)
4. Wynne (talented but needs to find success at the end of the year)
5. Ervin (bumping up a lot of weight, and he isn't exactly Caleb)
6. Bunch (could easily end up higher)
polley didnt cut much weight at all last year..polley really never has cut a lot of weight once i think abt it
polley didnt cut much weight at all last year..polley really never has cut a lot of weight once i think abt it
Ya I made that up in a quick instant and in my head I was probably thinking about Killebrew who always seems to have 0% body fat on him. My mistake

I can't agree more about Haywood, he's one of my favorites to watch.Big, Strong, and an all around good guy.I don't think he will be down to 145, but regardless where he's at ,I fill sorry for who he lines up with.
Where is the love for Gabe ? Do you not know his last name ? It's ERVIN- ERVIN-ERVINI checked, he stuck Bunch in the first period, never wrestled Wynne.

Haywood WILL be at 145.
145 looks to be loaded from top to bottom !!! I can't wait to see some of these match-ups.Haywood WILL be at 145.
What do you think 138 is going to look like?
If Gabe was at 132 or 138 I'd maybe have him in the finals, I haven't looked. the difference between 125 and 145 is huge. I don't know how many guys fleeing the lost weight of 135 will be going 132 and which ones will be oging 138 so this is just a guess at weights my guess is that outside of Jayce this will look completely different come regionals.
138
1. Jayce Carr (head and shoulders, and torso, and knees, above everybody else at this weight)
2. Ryan Bunch (a good solid wrestler, very consistent)
3. Evan Butler (just another lanky hoptown guy, might be Lawson )
4. Josh Green (the younger brother of Zach Green, could be Gino, Jerry's younger brother. Gino was my backup and Josh was his brother's)
5. Chris Hall (I don't remember any of his matches)
6. Whoever Christian County has
O.K.,You guy are doing a good job. What do you thank 132 is going to look like ?
Sorry about the line. I'm EG-NERT!!!
Making me make full predictions step by step I see, well as long as it provokes conversation there is nothing wrong with it.
132
1. Chad Gahafer (come out of nowhere and had a monster state tournament last year)
2. Jacob Bennett (easily the most improved wrestler in Region 1 last year, benefits of good coaching and a good partner)
3. Devantae Humphrey (also saw a lot of improvement, if he builds some set ups he can be a major threat)
4. Nick Ringle (missed a year with a broken back but a real solid kid who wins the matches he needs to)
5. Isaac Lawson (grew a lot, very likely he doesn't show up at this weight)
6. Ryan Gallogaly (if the tournament was decided by most out there last names, he'd be number 1)
O.K. FCHS, It's looks like you have thought this out pretty good.( although I don't agree with all your prediction.) So just start out with 106 and go through hwt. It's alot of fun to see what you think.
whats 170 looking to be like????
Predictions this early in the season are virtually worthless outside of motivating kids, we don't know how weights will fall and who has had a monster offseason, but since it seems you guys want it I'll give it.
106
1. Robert Smith, Union
2. Caleb Austin/Asa Odoms, Christian
3. Jeremiah Kline, Trigg
4. Anthony Dewitt, Fort Campbell
5. B.J. Miller, Ohio
6. Dalton Putty, UHA
Again the lowest weight in Region 1 is also a good looking weight in the state. Robert Smith backed up Trae Blackwell last year, but the few times I saw him wrestle he looked very impressive, and has a great coaching staff behind him. Christian has Asa Odoms coming back from injury or one of the breakout wrestlers last year, Caleb Austin. Jeremiah Kline is easily Trigg’s best shot at their first state placer since becoming a team again, if he has grown a bit more he could easily reach the regional finals. Dewitt struggled at times last year breaking his thumb at the start of the season and then wrestling as an undersized 112 the rest of the year, if he makes 106 he could be a dark horse for the finals. Miller and Putty are both kids from well coached teams who have shots at placing.
113
1. J.J. Killebrew, Christian
2. Trae Blackwell, Union
3. Travon Thacker, Hoptown
4. Clay Revlett, Caldwell
5. Travis Baggerly, Ohio
6. Fort Campbell
Killebrew and Blackwell enter the season as the top 2 guys in the state. Killebrew is a freak of nature and has plenty of technique to assist his athleticism. Blackwell has beyond solid technique and wins when he needs it. Thacker had a solid season last year and is easily the front runner of the rest of the 113 guys. Revlett suffered a heartbreaker last year where it seemed he was going to state only to lose in overtime, miles of heart. Baggerly and whoever Fort Campbell is gonna get rounds out the group.
120
1. Brock Ervin, Union
2. Chase Boone, Ohio
3. Chris Gilkey, Caldwell
4. Jeremy Burnham, Christian
5. Lydell Dyes, Hoptown
6. Isaiah Frank, Calloway
Union has their 3rd straight finalist as we continue through the heart of their lineup. Brock has been untouchable since winning the title as an 8th grader; I would love the irony if he lost to a Woodford County kid in the finals. Chase is one of the scariest kids I could ever imagine wrestling, just a short little ball of mean muscle. If Gilkey has worked hard this offseason he stands a good chance of making it a match against Boone. Jeremy Burnham is a very consistent wrestler, for 3 years you’ve known exactly what you’re gonna get from him. Dyes told me last year he planned on being 119 so I’ll put him over returning placer Isaiah Frank.
126
1. Billy Moore, Ohio
2. David Sahms, Fort Campbell
3. Wade Willen, UHA
4. Jeffery Wurth, Union
5. Tanner Ward, Apollo
6. Cody Whittington, Trigg
This year’s 126 seems even tougher than last year’s 140, any of the top 4 guys could win it and it really depends on who will bring their A game to regionals. Billy Moore had a huge last year but was inconsistent at times, losing to a couple kids who should’ve pinned. I’m gonna catch a lot of flak and accusations of homerism for this pick, but hear me out, when Sahms is on he is untouchable; I’ve seen him wrestle some of the best Tennessee has to offer and toss them aside like they’re nothing, he just doesn’t know when to bring his A game. Willen is the definition of a solid wrestler, great stance and is never in a bad position. Wurth was one of the many surprising wrestlers last year, is tied with Moore for the best top game in the region. After the big four the talent seems to really drop off where average, but no better wrestlers like Ward and Whittington sit.
132
1. Chad Gahafer, Union
2. Jacob Bennett, Ohio
3. Devantae Humphrey, Christian
4. Nick Ringle, Fort Campbell
5. Isaac Lawson, Hoptown
6. Ryan Gallogaly, Trigg
I already covered this weight
138
1. Jayce Carr, Union
2. Ryan Bunch, Ohio
3. Evan Butler, Hoptown
4. Josh Green, Fort Campbell
5. Chris Hall, Calloway
6. Christian County
This one too
145
1. Kory Polley, Christian
2. Colton Hall, UHA
3. Jerry Heywood, Fort Campbell
4. Justin Wynne, Paducah
5. Gabe Ervin, Union
6. Kyle Bunch, Ohio
Plenty of discussion on this one
152
1. Keegan Agnew, Caldwell
2. Jake Risinger, Union
3. Cameron Montgomery, UHA
4. Monnie Brown, Ohio
5. Cory Curtis, Daviees
6. Kyle Trumble, Hoptown
This is one weight I seriously disagreed with Ranger on. Keegan filled his brother’s shoes last year having a great season, the only guy in the region who knew how to beat Heywood. Risinger has been consistent for Union but he needs to step it up this year as Union moves into the more inexperienced part of their lineup. Montgomery will have put on a lot of weight if he is up here like Ranger says. Brown wrestles like Ohio County boys should, rough and in your face. Two guys I am unsure in fill in the alternate spots, could be better then I give them credit, or at a whole other weight.
160
1. Beau Sheffer, Union
2. Ki Ryder, Fort Campbell
3. Charlie Courtney, Calloway
4. Jayven Jones, Trigg
5. Christian County
6. UHA
160 was by far the weakest weight in the region last year. I am assuming the reason all these Union guys are dropping weight is because they got pushed up for Caleb. Courtney and Ryder split their matches at regionals last year, but I give Ryder the edge over how much he improved over the course of just one year. Jayven Jones could easily find himself in the regional finals; I feel I am almost shorting him here. I am really unsure of who else will land at this weight.
171
1. Devin Smith, Union
2. Michael Kennedy, Ohio
3. Jared Franklin, Fort Campbell
4. Tyler David Parker, Daviees
5. Jesse David, Caldwell
6. Christian County
When making my formula on how to beat Union I completely forgot about Devin Smith, forget it now, nobody is coming close this year. Devin Smith popped in and out of the lineup for Union last year if my memory serves me correctly, should be solid. Michael Kennedy was inconsistent last year, I am fairly sure he dropped a match to Jared Franklin last year. This is a case where if Fort Campbell peaks at the right time they could send kids like Jared Franklin to the finals. I am fairly vocal in my dislike of Daviees avoidance of the other teams in the region so I will say no more here. No major dark horses await in the wings at this weight.
182
1. Aaron Stevens, Trigg
2. Fort Campbell
3. Joe Gaines, Union
4. Derek Overstreet, Paducah
5. Christian County
6. Bradley Easterling, Ohio
After Buckman last year 189 was a fairly weak weight. Stevens is the highest returning placer and thus the definitive favorite over a bunch of unknowns. Fort Campbell has some athletic kids who have come out; if they stay on the team (which is rare) who is at this weight could shock some people. Joe Gaines is somebody Ranger and Union knows FAR better than I do. I don’t remember Overstreet but he is a regional placer. With all the unknown at this weight who knows how the bottom two spots will fill out.
195
1. Zach Mayton, Daviees
2. Fort Campbell
3. Christian County
4. Union County
5. I
6. Give up
Well now we come to the new weight class, we are all completely at a loss here. But again if Fort Campbell can keep the football talent in the room they can challenge for this open spot.
220
1. Tim Nikolao, Fort Campbell
2. Rashaud Wilkins, Union
3. Ryan Linn, Daviees
4. Noah Kennedy, Caldwell
5. Christian County
6. Open
215 was another weak weight last year once you got past Zimi John. Nikolao is coming back from two years of injuries and if he is back at 100% he could easily inherit the title closest to what his brother once earned. I have Wilkins over Linn here because of my faith in Union’s coaching. After those 3 the weight is relatively unknown and we don’t even know how many teams will be able to field wrestlers here.
285
1. David Dawson, Christian County
2. Raynel Brown, Union
3. Dominic Hephner, Caldwell
4. Michael Pettigrew, Paducah
5. Dakota Towery, Apollo
6. Fort Campbell (could be David Nikolao)
This weight flew wide open with Matt Woods moving. Dawson is the returning regional runner-up and did wrestle over the summer. Brown and Hephner are not far behind and could easily challenge for the title. From there on it is just a matter of who shows up
FCHS, Thank You & Thank You.
why did it do that twice?
Well after I post this I hear about a ton of changes regarding weight, I give up haha
Well after I post this I hear about a ton of changes regarding weight, I give up haha
Let us hear about some of the weight changes, maybe it spark up some talk.
Gilkey and WIllen are going 132, Stevens is going 220, Kline is going 126 I think, Burnham is going 126 or 132 I don't remember, Ringle is going 138. That is all I've heard
Who's going to be at Trigg Co. saturday ( 11/19 )?
132 is looking to be one of the toughess wts.in the region,I was told last weekend at the Trigg Co. tournament that Jayce Carr and Wade Willen were both going 132. You throw in Devantae Humphrey and Jacob Bennett and 132 will be a tough, tough wt. to be in.
Killebrew Will Win state this year! End of story.
Chase Boone might have something to say about that. He is planning to be at 117 after christmas.Killebrew Will Win state this year! End of story.
Chase Boone might have something to say about that. He is planning to be at 117 after christmas.
117 would still have him competing at 120 and likely not facing Killebrew.
117 would still have him competing at 120 and likely not facing Killebrew.
O.K. you got me on that one.So let me try this again.Chase is planning to go 115 after Christmas.
I honestly dnt think he can do it lol i mean yea he prob has the body fat to do it because of his height but you have to think of all the disadvantages he'll put himself in.. losing alot of strength(his advantage) and energy,..... just doesnt seem like the chase boone you would expect to dominate at 115. those extra 5lbs can hurt.O.K. you got me on that one.So let me try this again.Chase is planning to go 115 after Christmas.
where is everybody going this weekend? I know Hop-Town is having a tourney, with a majority of Region One going there. UHA is going to the Derby City Classis. Ohio Co. is wrestling at Bryan Station(Lex.). If you know anything else let us know. Best of luck to all !!! WE'LL SEE YOU ALL SOON.
Fort Campbell is going to the Harpeth Invitational down in Tennessee
Along with Christian County
kegan agnew is wrestling at 145 and might b going down to 138 after christmas so yes 45 is stacked and kegan just beat justin wynn
I watched that agnew and wynn match. It was a good one. I also heard thru the gravevine that Killebrew is not allowed to go below 126 from his body fat test which throws a monkey wrench in the rankings.

Wouldn't put too much faith in the grapevine. It looks to me like he weighed under 113 for the body fat.
That'd be good then. He is a legit wrestler. I was shocked when I heard that. Was told he quit because of the news and was talked back into wrestling again from the coaches. But I wouldn't take too much faith in the information I was told.
I still remember being told such lovely stories as Caleb never being able to wrestle again, a New Jersey state champ moving to fort Campbell, etc. I have learned never to trust the grapevine. Especially shootthehalf's rumors hahaha
Was there anymore good match-ups at 145? Was there any good matches at any other wts.?kegan agnew is wrestling at 145 and might b going down to 138 after christmas so yes 45 is stacked and kegan just beat justin wynn
Where is everyone at this weekend 12/10?
