What do these two words mean to a wrestler? What is expected from the wrestler?

What do these two words mean to a coach? What is expected from a coach?

The last question is what does loyalty mean to a wrestler and a coach? What is expected from each?

I ask these questions because it seems that Campbell County's coaches have forgotten what these words mean.

I'm assuming a Bachman got beat out in a wrestle off?... Shame, he's wrestled for CC all year and Myers hasn't even wrestled one match for them.

I don't see how a wrestler can represent a team in the post season who hasn't even wrestled a match for them in the regular season....crazy!

And someone told me that I should be ashamed of saying something negative about Coach B. Looks to me that he has lost his way. Or is it that he wants that last state title before he retires.

B-L: Are you sure that you want to continue with this. You and Coach B have known each other a very long time, he as your coach then collegue and friend.

Good question. I've watched a wrestler be over-weight (as much as 5lbs.) every single wrestle off of the season and then this week not even come to practice all week, and miss wrestle-offs. Then show up on Friday practice for a few and sit the rest of the time, and then get to wrestle is Saturdays match. What is the coach teaching this wrestler? That he doesn't have to play by the rules that the rest of the team does. That he doesn't have to work as hard as everyone else and he will still be handed his spot on the team. In turn he is one of the laziest wrestlers in practice and has to constantly be to told to keep working. The sad thing is he is probably the most talented wrestler on the team, but because he doesn't have to work and is allowed to be lazy and have an attitude he will never be as good as he could be.

KHSAA ruled on the situation. I would guess KHSAA trumps anything a coach wants to do. Why would a coach want to contradict the ruling and risk possible disciplinary action? It is what it is, unfortunately.

What a joke this is exactly what not being loyal looks like! Coming on a forum in which most of the state looks at including his sons friends and team mates, and bashing an entire coaching staff. GROW UP!!!!

One thing in this state, you still can pick who you want to have on your team, the KHSAA does say that a peron or persons in on your team, they say that your eligible for your team. Sorry to here about Bachmans son and I guess he isnt eligible for 45 is he. Im sure the Myers boys wanted to be eligible earlier so timing really isnt their fault other than switching school. (I didnt agree with the ruling either) Its a hard thing do you always use your best wrestlers or most loyal wrestlers

not knowing the whole situation, id say that this is completely unfair towards bachman, he has wrestled in his spot all year long and wrestled for CCHS and for the past 2 years, comes to practice puts in his; sweat, blood, and tears into the team. then along comes a stud and takes his varsity spot the week of regions. not very fair to bachman, but then again the myers boys cant be blamed in the least for moving there and being talented individuals, nor should they be punished... tough situation and tough decision for CC coaching staff. Now the question is, will bachman be able to wrestle 45? or wrestle off 60? kicking out another kid

The KHSAA rules the athletes are eligible or not, its up to the Coach as to whether the Athlete can even join the team this late in the season or compete in place of some a starter.

How could the coach face disciplinary action? Just because the khsaa rules a kid elidgable doesnt mean a coach MUST allow them on the team.

Would Coacih B let the Myers boys wrestle if his son was the one losing a varsity spot right before the region tournament. I don't think so, but we will never know.

Peoples actions say everything you need to know about a person. Loyalty ? Commitment ? Coach of the year ? Mr. Meyers was right again , one big joke . Oh, dont say this dont say that. Call a spade a spade.

Birds of the same feather flock together. Thats the way to stick together team.

Looks like you have as well BL. Coming here and bashing a staff for following what i assume was a standard wrestle off. Any CC wrestlers want to fill us old folks on the other end of the state in on what happened?

BL you should have coached him yourself!

Yes you are correct I have no loyalty left for the program or staff. At least I admit that. When one is not shown loyalty one should not give it back.

HC. I have been coaching him, but I don't make the decisions at CC.

CC; I have more loyalty to my family than to freinds. I no longer represent CC in any form as a coach, or volunteer. I will go and watch my son wrestle nothing more.

Our coach told us about Wrestle-Off's early in the year. Each week you have the chance to win the "Varsity' spot. He then went on to say, at about 2/3 the way through the season, the person who has been in that spot the most, would remain there for rest of the year (baring injury) and represent the school at all post-season events.

Seems fair to me. Guess others don't view it that way.

BTW-- has made our team stronger, and we know who is where, and no politics!

I was assuming that after the 145 lber quit that Stephen was going 152 and Bauchman would cut to 145. Is this too much of a cut for Bauchman to make? If he cant make the cut to 145 can bump up to 160? Either way is this going to leave Campbell Co with one less kid scoring points at State? I would have to think Campbell is the favorite now to win team title but having a weight with no points scorer will come into play

I've been around wrestling in Kentucky for well over a decade now and I have had many encounters with Coach B. on and off the mat. I have never doubted his integrity or his commitment to his team and his recent decision to allow the Myers boys to wrestle HAS NOT changed my opinion. Coach B. has been an ambassador to our sport well beyond the contours of Kentucky. I have no doubt that his decision was driven by his desire to be fair to all parties. One could argue that he should inately honor wrestlers who have been around all season, and this is a fair arguement, but when faced with such a difficult choice any of us would give pause and try to make the best one. The Myers boys are not wrestling for CC just so the Camels can hoist a state title at season's end. They are wrestling because Coach B. believes those boys should not be punished for the poor behavior of their father. I truly believe this. There was no perfect choice to be made here. It is unfortunate that the inclusion of the Myers brothers has adversely effected a hard-working wrestler, but it is simply an unwanted result of a very difficult decision. And I have learned that any coach around the state would rather see his kids succeed individually than win a team title. It's not about a coach's personal glory, it is about molding these kids into successful, achieving young men.

Purple Kool-aid taste good uh? If the two new wrestlers were in the mix of other CC past state qualifiers (Yenter, Fausz, Woods, Hamilton) I don't know that Coach B's proxies would have been so eager to welcome them to the team. If you think this is a selfless act by the coach, you are wrong. This is all about winning at all cost. This was not some random set of events that just miraculously happened. This move was welcomed and at least in part coordinated by people associated with CC wrestling. Coach will say he had no contact before the new boys showed up at school - that's the rule. But it was made clear to the transfers way before Christmas they would wrestle for CC in state tourney if KHSAA approved and others liked the idea of getting that state champ ring because it didn't impact their kid directly. Ask the kids, they know what time it is.

nicely put.

So in essence you are throwing a tantrum similar to the likes of papa Meyers? Nicely played.

I have to say something, coach B originally when telling them they could wrestle on our team believed Stephen to be able to wrestle 38, he never intended for anyone's spot to get taken. 45 being open he assumed either me or Stephen would fill it... so he couldn't go back on his word on telling the boys they could wrestle off, the chances at a state title were not even on his mind when making the decision.

Paulham what is Franck going to do without a big man in there to help him?

He's got Austin Myer, and a heavyweight coach.

Oh I thought Bachman was the heavyweight coach.

Why not? Seems to work pretty good for him. And if you don't think CC coach had a state title in mind your just being foolish. If he didn't, they wouldn't be wrestling this season for CC.

What works good for who? Clarify please.

ThrowKing and Takedown Machine 152 just 2 of the many screen names of one person.

I believe Bachman worked all year for his spot and it should be his now.Coach always has final decision.I do not think the correct decision has been made

I hope The Myers stay at Campbell next year so they have a shot at winning back to back state titles.

Clarification:

Throwing a tantrum has worked pretty well for Chris Myers!!! Are we clear now?

So the few CC faithful who are pretending this was an "ethical" deicsion have firmly attached their blinders and are cirlcling the wagons. Reminds me of Nixon and "All the president's men". Yes I have been around this sport a very long time and I can say without a doubt this is the most blatent disregard for the spirit and intent of the KHSAA rules I have ever seen. This is up there with Barry Bonds saying he was unaware he was taking steroids. I guess win at all cost is the name of the game!

I know coach B. And I know his thoughts were never winning a state title anyone who thinks so is foolish.

Clarification:

Throwing a tantrum has worked pretty well for Chris Myers!!! Are we clear now?

Got it. I don't have a dog in the fight so I'll stay out of it. But I will keep reading.

His thoughts may not have been directly on a state title. His thoughts were he thought i would be easier to handle than Papa Meyers.

As stated by another, I am doing just what Papa Meyers has done fight for my kid.

To show my support to my kid I feel that I must make a stand and draw a line in the sand. I now must follow through and I have personally broken all ties with campbell county wrestling. I know this is not a huge loss for the team but its my only coarse of action left. My son cannot go 145 and it is way to late to transfer schools.

As i told Mr. Bankemper, If I could remove my name from the banners hanging in the gym now I would do so.

Now Kent must go 160 and maybe take a spot from another hard working wrestler, who then may go up and take a spot from someone else. This in no way makes for good team chemistry. My hopes is that if Kent does wrestle 160 or any weight. That any matches that he can possibly win he will win by 7 or less so as not to gain extra team points.

Well handcontrol if they do stay at CC and they win one next year too at least it will be "legal" and they wont't have to put an asterrik next to it in the record books

Gotta agree with bulldogs action. If you are in a situation you disagree with, remove yourself from the situation. I applaud you for this. However, it takes a little bit away to come on here and air your grievances. I hope its just to set the record straight and not start a war of words. I too disagree with situation but it is what it is. Has my opinion been changed of Campbell, absolutely. Will it affect my thoughts on state wrestling as a whole, no! Campbell will have this black eye for many years to come. Its their deal now.

I know coach B. And I know his thoughts were never winning a state title anyone who thinks so is foolish.

Riiiggghhht!!! <_<

I hope those of you who are complaining about how this is a blatant disregard for the rules realize no rules were broken by coach b, the KHSAA ruled them eligable! So the argument is his decision to let them wrestle.

How many of you are supporters of union, trinity, ryle, Simon Kenton? All of these schools have been accused of similar things. I believe SK Had a pretty good kaiser transfer in from scott, trinity won a state title with a bradberry, now a hitchings, ryle had a runner up finish with a Hall, oh and all the union folks have had a title with Carr, and Blackwell.

So to those who say that "this" is what the sport has come too I agree, but don't put one persons head on the chopping block, it is the sport as a whole.

With things the way they are today (people acting like babies when things don't go their way) loyalty very rarely exists.

BL you have every right to be pissed off your son lost his spot to a better wrestler. But, keep in mind there are many factors that play into this and would you be this upset if Stephen had beat the 160 pounder and your son was not affected? I think not.

Seems futile to keep arguing this, so heres a question moving forward.

Where will the Meyers be wrestling next year?

His thoughts may not have been directly on a state title. His thoughts were he thought i would be easier to handle than Papa Meyers.

Wow! That last part to your comment is absurd. I can't believe that a parent would say that. And, well, a former coach! CC might be relieved that you cut all ties with an attitude like yours BL.

Why not have him lose team points by arguing with the refs or cursing like I witnessed at the conference duals with CC and Ryle.

Must be busy with Throwking,Takedown Machine 152 and handcontrol all using the same computer in the city of Wilder.

I like Coach B alot.He still has time to do the right thing. For him and CC,I hope he does.

You have no idea!

All I am saying is that since He has been betrayed by his team then he needs not go out of his way for the team itself. I also said HOPE, not that he was told to do so.

As you well know Handcontrol Mr. Bankemper did not allow a kid to wrestle regions last year after winning a wrestle off because he did not work hard in practice. He did this to sent a message to the kids that if you don't work hard for the team you will not be on the team. I disagreed with this move but remained quite about it. A similar think happened 2 years ago with a wrestle off but you were not there. (Also involvling my son)

Now he is making the opposite decision. I also pointed out that it will be unfair to the 160, 182 (a second time) and possibly the 195. No matter what happens next the betrayal has occured and things will never be the same again.

All in all my greivence has been said and the outcome over. My hope is that I will get to see my son wrestle another match this year. And hopefully next year (if this has not soured him) He has already said I wish the season was over already?

I hope that no-one else will ever have to see a 17 year olds dreams dashed by betrayal. It is one of the hardest things you will ever have to witness as a parent.

I have told him if this is the worst thing that ever happens to you be grateful. There are many other things that are much, much worse. As a parent however it is devestating, our entire home has been affect by this.

Mr. B your dealing with the devil

How are his dreams dashed? Just curious, because you just said that he could wrestle for the 160 spot.

BL I have been around a lot longer than you think! Almost 10 years now at CC. Though I have never stepped into the wrestling room to act like a coach, my sons have been through the CC program and I have the utmost respect for all of the leaders of said program. I am hoping that your son does not feel betrayed by his teammates because they do not deserve any of the blame for this situation. Keep it between you and the coaching staff.

You are correct, I did not mean to implicate his teammates. If I did that was not my intension at all, I support all of the wrestlers themselves and hope to see them return with many individual state championships and medals.

I am not even bitter at the newbies, they are good kids and I wish them the best. I would even go as far as saying I hold no ill against the newbies father, and I wish his hopes and dreams come true for his kids.

what about 160 feelings and his parent

what about 160 feelings and his parent

I was just asking BL how his sons dreams are dashed now. Nothing else considered is what I am curious about.

I will conclude this by saying this.

These are the ratings of a papa bear that was unable to protect his cub. I ultimately blame myself for not being a bigger threat than others are to the coaching staff. (In other words, being a push over)

I know that my ratings are somewhat irrational and probably classless. But I have towed the company line in expense of my son and family for too long. I made this conscious decision to air the dirty laundry, knowing that it will look bad on me. I am OK with this because I am allowing myself this luxury at least once in my life. If this can stop any further wrong decisions on anyone’s part I am OK with this. I will still support my family any way I can.

I will also add that at the end of this day (midnight) I will have this thread closed. It will be time for a new week to begin and for many to start their march toward a state title, and others trying to advance as far as possible in the post season.

I only ask that after midnight tonight that all talk be about the post season (Regional tourneys and state tourney). This is ultimately what we are all on here for.

Good luck to all. And I hope everyone a safe and successful post season.

KBach finished.

Someone earlier had said that CC is going to have to carry this "black eye" for long time. I agree. What I saw coming up from their feeder program is going to be outstanding. Too bad they will be the ones to have to overcome this.

The blame squarely goes on the khsaa for putting Coach B in a compromising situation.

Bulldog you act as if your life has ended.

Bulldog Leader,

I applaude you for standing up like a man and not hiding behind a screen name to remain anonymous for what you believe in. Good luck to you and your son.
