Why is the state tournament not seeded? I think this would make the state tournament more competitive.

Except that Tennessee does it every year, with the same number of wrestlers in the brackets and the same number of regions. Seems to work well for them.
The gist of the arguement against seeding has several points.
Too many schools with too many kids without common opponants.
Too many coaches to have an actual "live" meeting
The ranking system in this state is done by one person and while he does a god job is somewhat subjective

I would suggest to save time on spending hours debating seeds they just pick the first placers from region, and randomize them for 1-4 seeds, then 2nd placers for 1-8 seed and so on, or maybe both 1st and 2nd for 1-8 seed? That way we would still get a sort of random draw, but also some seeding as well.
