Has anyone heard of any new programs this year? I have heard there will be 4-6 new teams this season.

I heard Nelson County started a program in Region II
Go to KHSAA.org and find the caching list for wrestling. It shows several new teams that have not been put into regions yet. Glad to see some of these programs finally start up. This could be the beginning to a big increase for Kentucky over the next several years I hope.
The new programs I found on the list are:
Calloway County
Iroquois (Never heard of it)
Letcher County Central, Whitesburg
Nelson County (Jason Detre is the coach)
Newport
Trigg County
Are these new? I haven't heard much of them
Western
Atherton
I'm pretty sure both Western and Atherton have been around for awhile. Western for sure, I remember a heavyweight from there my freshman year.
iroquis is in region uh the region prp is in and they have had a team. well i atleast i think so
Atherton is in the same region as saint x and trinity they havent had a team in a while do to no interest but they had a couple guys at region last year and western has had a team for a while and is in the same region as PRP
Isn't Boone Co High gonna start a program ? They had one back in the day and discontinued it. Now i hear they're gonna bring it back.
i remember when boone had a team and i remember wrestling the state tourney at atherton, packed like sardines. thank god for the frankfort civic center
I've heard boone was pretty good back in the day.
Dickie Walls will be the Calloway County coach.
Montgomery County has started a program also.
Not sure about Trigg County, I know they are listed on the coaches page, but I have not heard about them.
Trigg doesn't have a program right now as of this moment. They are trying to get Jason Walls to coach a program there since he teaches at Trigg. Look for a team in the upcoming years tho. I feel he is anxious to get a team going.
To the new wrestling programs, WELCOME . I wish you all the success in developing and growing your new programs.
Yes, good luck to you all... You've made a big step.
