Fargo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Topic ID: 8494 | 9 Posts

Could I see a show of hands of the kids that plan on going to Fargo this year!

How does Kentucky choose its team ,i assume its done through the the state tournament results ??

Who heads up the team are there practices or a camp or two after the state tourny and who are the Team coaches ,

just wondering being nosey i guess since the good folks in Ohio have informed me i am scared to send my son.

Do the union kids do Fargo they seem as if they would do very well there alonng with some other kids i saw this weekend ?

Do the Kentucky kids usually try to double or do most pick a style or is it a mixture ,Very impressive to even attempt to double in Fargo .

On a serious note what does everyone think about the weight classes do i send the boy at 220 or cut him to 195 possibly for the last time ,its summer and the prospect of being a legit 220 next yr and after is kind of neat but there is no 220 in college SOOOOOOOOOO it may take a few yrs to reach a true hvy weight if that becomes the goal ,very confusing .

Also funny stuff this past weekend ,I wrestled this DUDE named Kerry Kolat thats hillarious .

Good luck to team KY in Fargo like to see some AAs come back ,it truly is a tough tournament seeing 4 x state champs in D1 colleges never AA out there speaks volumes .It takes a tremendous amount of work to hang out there

I plan on taking Tyler!

I've been out to Fargo since 2008. The competition is the toughest in the nation at the high school level. College coaches are there recruiting kids also. Some kids who have attended in the past have done both Freestyle & Greco, some have just done Freestyle. I do suggest that if you plan on attending, you devote a significant amount of mat time to Freestyle & Greco (attending local & regional events). I'm not sure who is coordinating the Fargo trip this year. Coach Fahy & Coach Ervin have coordinated the trip in the past.

We Union boys are planning on taking probably four to Fargo. Coach Fahy has done most of the leg work in the past couple of years. I had to sit out last year because I had to take the PRAXIS so that I could be a fully certified teacher. In the past, there is no way of "picking" a team, because there has not been enough interest to warrant such a process. I think there were something like nine kids from KY the past couple of years. Our boys will probably do just Freestyle. I am trying to get some things together for some freestyle practices and some competitions. I will post more when I know more.... ALSO, who would be interested in wrestling for Team KY in the Freestyle Junior Duals in Oklahoma?

Interesting ,It seems Freestyle and Greco should become a much bigger priority in the state even if you do not like them both pick one and go with it ,the difference keeps kids motivated and people learning ,The team should be full at least one kid each weight particularly in the Junior div ,Teams should push their kids to do it just because the season is over doesnt mean kids should quit wrestling and if kids are planning on college the first ? asked after your state placing is did you go to Fargo ?

I have two who will go to Oklahoma 145 0r 52 and 220.

Austin cannot go, because USA wrestling has decided that Cadets can no longer wrestle up, and I am assuming that he is indeed a cadet. Only Juniors at Junior duals. I know it sucks, because we have some tough cadets that I would love to have on the team....

Mpire can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Austin is a Junior, not a Cadet wrestling up.

Austin is a Fila cadet but Fargo Jr it all depends on which org is running the tournament in Oklahoma.
