There will be no remote weigh-ins available for the Bluegrass State Games. All weigh-ins will take place at Lafayette High School on Friday, July 21st from 4pm-7pm. We complete the brackets after weigh-ins so that the tournament can begin and end at a decent time. I look forward to a great turnout. If you have any other questions you can contacrt me, Chris McCoy at 859-509-6379 or through email at [email protected].

Coach McCoy and his staff work very hard at accomodating everyone they can for this. I am sure he did what he could to get something worked out but for now we will just weigh in at Lafayette.
This shouldn't be a problem, weigh-ins should be expected to be done at the event.

I somewhat agree, but with no Saturday weigh-ins I think it discourages some participation. For example, a northern ky or Louisville kid (the majority of our wrestlers in this state are in these two areas) has to drive almost 2 hours to Lafayette on Friday night to weight in. Then 2 hours home. Then 2 hours Saturday for the event. Then 2 hours home. With the price of gas, I can see a lot of parents frowning on that for the average wrestler.

Why not satellite weigh-ins, signed by a school administrator, High school coach?
This is not trust issue. It is a time issue. I have to turn all of the money and entry forms that night. If someone does not show up on time with entry forms it is on me. I trust other coaches to do the weigh-ins fairly but it is a matter of getting everything processed and the brackets completed in a timely manner.

I understand. Especially given that they have lost some sponsorship money, they want to get it in their hands as soon as you get it. And I'm sure having Friday night to prep all of the brackets is one reason this event has run so smoothly since Coach McCoy has been handling it.
This tournament always draws the most dedicated kids in the state in my opinion. The kids that want to be state champs will be there. I understand about the cost of gas...but there really isn't all that many tournaments going on in the summer in our state, so this is one all kids should make it to in my opinion.
I heard it was on the 24th of july and I heard it was on july 22nd so what day is it on Im ready to put back on my tights AGAIN!!

I think you are correct here Ranger. You may still get the extremely dedicated kids, plus the Lexington wreslters. You will probably have a huge drop off in participants. One of the huge negatives in wrestling is already the long Saturdays for many teams that have to travel during the regular season. Now this event will expect them to travel two days or pay for a motel room. I hope this does not kill it in the Bluegrass Games.
