Seeding is coming out.

So far two Kentucky wrestlers have been seeded.

You can follow the seeding here at http://www.walshironman.com/new/index.php

Trea Blackwell- 15th @120

Brock Ervin- 8th @126

Any seed at all there helps getting an 8 is great not sure if it puts you on the one side or not .seems like much of the seeding is inconsequential untill the later rounds so many kids from different states that the criteria from state placings often times sends not so great wrestlers higher on the seeding chart .

the 8 seed sees the 1 seed in the quarters.

That's about what I thought ,the lighter weights are crasy loaded with skilled guys many high seeds will take one on the chin from an up an comer , like BROCK he's a beast

Carr got a 5 seed.

Holy , he's a 3 timer right . Good luck Jayce .

Is he on the 1 side as well ,

yeah 5 sees 4 in the quarters and the winner sees 1 in the simi's

Should be good ,they are in the best tourny in the. Country and counted amongst the best that's awesome .To place there is a very big deal very few weights will be weak if any .None of the lighter or middle weights will give an inch .

My son was an 18 seed his fresh yr , got seeded at Iron Man but not Swowca lol

Kevin should have a very good seed as well and a bang up style that will stun many that he wrestles .

Blackwell with a 15 is setting pretty he will hit the studs a bit sooner but knock a couple out and your there .

Cooper got the 5 seed

No way Brock is the #8. He'd flat out destroy the #3 and #5 especially the #5 Tutolo. I guarantee it! #3 McClay is tough but not Brock tough. Ohio boys that got a higher seed because of their home state. Good luck to all 4, represent Ky well as I know you will.

Great seeds for Jayce and Cooper , Brock could be higher Mclay is tough hitting OT with Dicamillo . The criteria there is pretty solid I always thought , you see many multi x state champs from not so tough states get high seeds and get knocked out its good for the tougher kids .

This is a very big step in the right direction for Kentucky wrestling. It took a lot of work to get Bob Preusse to let Kentucky competitors back in the Ironman. I am excited about the opportunity these boys have, and hope that more of our kids will take this challenge.

On a seeding note, there is very specific criteria in place. State placement is the third criteria. It is very state sensitive, and only state champions from our state will be allowed to compete unless you have freestyle placement in Fargo only, with very heavy emphasis on the Junior division. There is also a head to head variable (past year) that counts. Unfortunately all of the studs Brock has whipped are at different weights, or not at the Ironman.

The seeding there is helpful to some but to the better kids who will make the podium any decent seed is a good thing and it doesn't matter . All it will do is give you bigger shine for outdoing your seed .

I thought they took into consideration most national level tournys not just Fargo freestyle and Greco is a bit different and some of the best kids like Jordan do not do Fargo !!!

Indeed, Preusse has been a bit hesitant to invite KY wrestlers. So, not only did a few get invited they also got SEEDED! Very impressive. Good luck to all.

Trae bout 72

Brock bout 77

Jayce bout 110

Cooper bout 141

Blackwell wins by fall. was up 17-0 when he got the pin.

Brock wins by decision 10-3

Thank you.

Cooper lost 17-2 TF

So...as a 5 seed Cooper was teched in the first round?

I hope someone accidentally mixed the names up. Hard to believe Kevin would lose in the first round, much less get teched.

Round two: Blackwell loses in OT to the #2 seed. Brock WBF. Jayce loses 6-4 to Heffernan of St. Eds.

Shouldn't have let Jayce watch "PINNED" this week....

Trae wrestled Kolodzik of Blair

Thanks Mike, it was nice browsing the brackets.

Brock and Dance should be a great match Dance is a Powerhouse knows basics and then some movement can beat him.Marinelli upsets Marshall it seems being at Jordan's all the time works better than part of the time He has Definatly improved.Marinelli , Marshall , Cooper , Schram , all at Gmva and then some , awesome stuff .

Tough roads ahead for Jayce and Trae keep plugging away .

Bracket show Brock lost to Dance by Pin but the bout scorecard shows by decision 5-1?

Any insights on this match?

Looks like Ervin is alive to place, but that's it. Mixed results for Kentucky wrestling. Not a great showing, but not too bad considering the competition either.

Can anybody explained what happened to Kevin Cooper?

Can anybody explained what happened to Kevin Cooper?

He got taken down and turned a bunch. He's just coming off an injury and isn't in the best of shape.

I know that feeling but if it wasn't for Brock our showing wouldn't be boding well for Kentucky's future at Ironman

You have to either be a powerhouse or deceivingly strong or move and even then you have to be one hell of a wrestler to beat someone like dance , obviously Brock can , hitting the third 0 to 0 is impressive one escape point wins a match like that ,

Congrats Brock for placing 5th in the toughest HS tourney in the country.

Congrats to all the others who went and put it out there. It takes stones to step up to the plate and compete with the best in the counttry.

Phenomenal tournament as usual. Congrats to the boys who stepped up and took the challenge. I know the results, overall, weren't as expected, however this is THE meatgrinder of the year. This is where Fargo champs go to die. No shame in losing in this event. As a matter of fact (well not really, just my opinion), a poor showing at Ironman is not necessarily indicative of a wrestler's ability. Carr lost two close ones. I saw the match w/ Heffernan. Carr kept it close which is saying a lot as Heffernan is expected to have a great year. Blackwell hung with Kolidzik who seemed a bit out of sorts both days. Although he did make the finals, so what do I know? I saw the last part of that match as the score was announced over the P.A. Another tough pill in consis for Blackwell. Blackwell will roll this year. Sorry to hear Cooper was injured, did not know that. He was the one KY boy I wanted to see the most. Hope he recovers soon. Ervin showed his mettle. Nice tournament. Two of his losses were to eventual champ and super-stud Dance, and 4th placer McClary. The bar has been raised, hope to see more entries next year. Mr Preusse, hopefully, took notice.

I think the saying is "state champs go to die " not Fargo Champs ,that's surely a mistake by you , Iron Man as great as it is , does not have the numbers carry the weight or add up to Fargo , there I have to draw the line on the Iron Man Hooplah , there are others nearly as impressive as Iron Man Powerade , cheesehead , 32 , flow ,NHSCA s , none or any number combined do not add up to FARGO surprised you would make such a comment I am always first to give Iron Man its props but I have seen people place at Iron Man that cannot even make it to Fargo .

FARGO is king

Iron man has studs but also is awash with a certain percent of kids from teams that could never dream of placing there or stepping on the floor at Fargo where every spot is earned .And I hav seen Iron Man champs lose in Fargo .

Oh. Well okay then. Many great folkstyle wrestlers blow off Fargo. The talent level at Fargo has dwindled of late. The numbers are there, just not the talent. Look over the names, so many kids that qualify for Fargo don't win state, or even place high at folkstyle state. On the other hand, Ironman has continued to improve. So we can debate potAto or potAHto all you want, it is all good. Hope to see Austin there next year. Possibility?

Yes i remember talking to Jeff Jordan a few yrs back he told me he doesn't have his kids do Fargo so they can focus on simply folk so yes you are right many of the best do not because they do not want to spend the time or take away from Folk ,he also had high praise for those that attempted it , and I have seen multiple x Ohio champs Never place at Fargo. Di Julius I think and others , big numbers may be watered down but some weights at Irom man are watered down by teams that have studs in some weights and duds in others Fargo there is usually a pecking order top two or so many per state + reg placers , it is apples and oranges but I have to think Fargo wins out over Iron Man any day and I'm betting the majority of coaches around the country would agree with me , hope to see. Both my boys there this yr , no need to keep Steph at home I'm pretty sure he's allowed to go and he likes fr Gr well fr not sure anyone likes Greco lol yeah he likes gr too just kidding . Ironan is awesome but a small venue compared to FARGO .the AA at Fargo is the only thing steph has done that Austin has not Austin will want it more than anything in the sport , I guess the same

Can be said for a placing at Iron Man !!!!
