Predictions?

1. Caleb Canter

2. Not you !

1. Caleb Canter

2. Not you !

I had to do that !

I don't even wrestle any more lol but yeah i did walk into that lmao

Hahahahahahhah

Then you go about 220 now.....?????.....I do like Caleb Canter....Still cannot forget that JJ Jude semi-final match....He deserved that one and I think he will get it all this year.....I have known him since he was a tiny 103 lbs animal in Middle School.....Super nice Dad and Coach.....One of the best in my book.......As far as young men go Caleb is at the top of the list !

Yeah but who do you think goes 2,3,4,5,6,7,8??

Personally I think any of the top 4 have a shot this year

I think Lane Jones will top Canter and watch out for Boykin this year. He's my sleeper even over Mink and Pledger

1. Lane Jones Walton

2. Brennon Boykin Eastern

3. Caleb Canter Larue

4. Pledger ST X

5.Casey Mink Wayne County

6. Derrick Hicks SK

7. Braden Jones Boone

8. Dustin Turner Campbell County

9. Sam Wilbanks Moore

10. Cody Flloyd Central Hardin

11. Whoever wrestles for Oldham (Deckyard or Macintosh)

12. Jacob Warwick Conner/Kennedy Ohio County

If Johnny Meiman from Ryle stays at 170 I'd move him up to the top 8

Canter and Jones Final......Jones can flat out scramble too....Should be a good one !

Sad , I enjoyed the Canter Jude match and Canter seemed a bit small but everyone might appear smal next to Jude lol . Although I had heat about him and Austin last yr and Austin would have beat him :)/> I admired Jude he was a tank now the sad thing for me is I have seen Lane around since he was young, my

Son has wrestled him and his brother in grade school and practiced together at the original prodigy some , He is a great kid and he comes from good people , it's the crappy part of things I know I would probably like Canters dad as well and Canter despite any bs from last yr , good luck to them both , Lane looked sharp at the Rumble .

You nailed it third round

Kennedy from Ohio is out for the season. You might want to throw Ryder from ft Campbell on the list near the bottom in the 6-10 range

Funny you guys say Johnny Meiman at 170 in top 8. He wrestled Lane to a 3-2 match at Swowca. I would say he is in the top 2. He beat Hicks and Turner already this year.

Mark my words, Lane Jones won't beat Meiman again. Not bad for a freshman.

I'm looking forward to seeing Meiman. Rumor though is that he's going to wrestle 160 ?? I do know his record etc and he's a force that's for sure.

Yes seems like Meiman would be up there pretty , high BUt they did say top eight meaning up there somewhere ??????? , Turner wrestled very poorly against him not making excuses Meiman dominated the match ,and he seems very physical , not sure how the match went with Lane but Lane from a technical standpoint is better than Meiman in my opinion , not saying who will win and I know Meiman is a young Ryle Lion and has a very bright future but my heart and head says Lane can beat him again , you have to go with the Sr and Lane moving up a class or so should know he needs to work on his strength and get used to his new weight class he's a taller kid with advantages he will need to use . Perhaps they end up on opposite ends at state and can knock off some comp , Lane wrestled poorly at reg last yr I think he was I'll then showed up for state I think he does the same this Year .

Hope he does go 160 , it will open up another spot at 170

I was looking at the WCI results and seen where McIntosh got pinned by Barret and the Parriman kid only lost by 1 point so how would you give McIntosh a higher ranking. Also according to trackwrestling the parriman kid beat Mink 5-1. Just some things to consider. Also, it looks like Myers is gonna go 152 and if he does will Canter drop to 160, i think its a good possibility. 170 is turning out to be an interesting weight class and Lane Jones is acting like it belongs to him as he is wrestling at the top of his game right now. I think anyone in the top 10 can take this weight class!

I doubt meyers will go to 152 jmho because of cooper. It would be best for both teams if they stayed the same class where there at. I don't believe Canter will drop either again jmho... Macintosh dominated the entire match vs Barrett just got caught towards the end. Parriman is tough and things may change a little but make no mistake any on the top 14 can pull upsets big upsets.

I don't know but it seems that Stephen's dad wants him to go 152 and seems to look forward to him wrestling Cooper in the finals at the state tournament. Now that is just what I take from reading Mpire's statements! I guess we won't really know until regions! As for Parriman I heard he dominated the match against Barrett but gave up 5 points late to a headlock and lost by one at the very end. I was also told he should have gotten at least 2 backs from a cradle in the 3rd but IDK I wasn't there maybe you can fill me in if you were there. Everyone is telling me the Parriman kid from McCreary was the best 170 there and should have won the tournament. What was the score when Barrett stuck McIntosh? 170 is my favorite weight class as I really like Lane Jones and Caleb Canter who should be the two favorites. I also think the Mink kid from Wayne Co is very tough and could beat either Jones or Canter on a given day and then I see where Parriman beat him so who knows and that's what makes this a fun wait class! All I can say is flip a coin as I am sure there are 10 or more contenders as well. I just hope one side of the bracket of the state tournament isn't stacked with all the to kids and the other side just has 1 kid who gets a free pass to the finals which seems to happen a lot!

The meyers thing is kind of crazy but deep down I really believe the kid is a great kid who will do what's best for his school team and that's stay at 160 and battle French. Cooper will stay at 152 again jmho. The 170's are deep. I watched the 11th ranked kid pin in about 45 seconds the kid who was just a few months ago ranked in Rangers rankings number 1 at 182 and it wasn't just a catch he had a near fall and then they stood up and he was taken down again and pinned. I watched Macintosh/Barrett match and macintosh was winning 5 or 6-1 when he got got pinned but he's a freshman and he'll learn from those things.

Parriman is very good. I was impressed with him beating Boykin more than the Barrett match. Mink is good but he's been beaten a few times this year by kids in the top 15 but his huge upset of Bell last year in the early rounds at state still carries a lot of weight. I like yourself hope there pretty evenly divided at the horse park but with so many super great wrestlers I just feel it will be the division to watch. Write it down and circle it lol there will be a couple of kids who are there regions 4 seeds beat a couple of the #1 seeds from there prospective regions. I agree Canter and Lane Jones are the predicted finalist but nothing would shock me in this division. Lane just barely beat Meiman 3-2 just 2 weeks ago and I have Meiman like 10th or even lower. It will be fun to watch !

Boykin and Parriman was a good match. They kept getting back points on eachother and Parriman ended up being the last one on top. Boykin was up 3 going in to the third and gassed. Thats what happens when you lose your mind, get beat in your first match, and have to wrestle all the way back to the consolation finals.

In the Barrett/MacIntosh match, the score was 2 to 2 starting the 3rd. MacIntosh scored early in first with sloppy headlock by Barrett. Barrett scored late in the second with a fireman. MacIntosh scored after Barrett got high with legs in to make the score 4-2. Barrett reversed, elevated a leg, and took MacIntosh straight to his back with a bow and arrow.

I agree it is definitely going to be a fun weight class to watch!

Lane looks good , I wouldn't go picking any favs at 160 other than Steph or Coop .

Like to see Canter and French wrestle though .

And no I wouldn't like to see either Stephen or Kevin lose a state title their Sr Yr neither would Kevin's dad. We think they can both win at either weight . And probably a couple more :)

I wasn't meaning that anyone would want to see either one of them lose because they are both phenomenal wrestlers. I think I was just thinking about how that would be a historical state finals match for KY. I agree that either one of them would be the favorite at either weight and they arte both good enough wrestlers to wrestle at whatever weight they choose. I haven't watched French much but have watched Canter since he was a little boy and he work very hard. I think there is going to be some great match-ups at the state tournament this year.

My mistake on the score. I knew Mac was winning. I Watched it on i high and the video is small but from an outsiders prospective it looked like macintosh was clearly in control 80% of the match but Barrett is a very strong kid and it showed he can beat anyone. The reason for the post was I just think the 170's are so tough this year. Thanks

My new rankings for 170 are as follows. Once again I'm no Ranger and still love what he does for this great sport ! Just a few changes from last weekend. Once again any input or thoughts and recommendations will be considered. I believe this is the best weight division in the class and believe many upsets will occur at the Horse Park. This will be a fun class to watch !!!!!!

I just went through and checked your Region 1 guys for you. Tyler Wilson shouldn't be on here, I know Ranger has him ranked but Wilson will be lucky to make it to state at this point, he has lost to Ki Ryder, Ben Redfield from Paducah Tilghman, Chase Copeland from Graves County, and Austin Durham from Trigg County. I currently have him ranked 6th in Region 1 (Ryder and Morris are the top two). Also from my understanding Clay Revlett will be sticking to 182.

Fanofwrestling

Number 1, I like how involved you are in the 170 weight class. I like that you post your own rankings. I enjoy reading your post.

Number 2, how quickly you turn on Boykin. I want to follow that up with this: i mean no disrespect to any wrestlers mentioned.

Boykin is not the most skilled wrestler at 170, but he is the fastest. He is strong as well and that makes him very dangerous. Results alone never tell the story. Barrett did pin him in the JCTC semis this weekend. The score was tied going in to third and Boykin had the choice, he made a mistake and got pinned. Congrats to Barrett who I consider one of the top 5 at 170. Boykin pinned everyone else in minimal time. I would say he was even controlling the match against Barrett. Mistakes happen.

The Dragon is in two weeks and most of the top guys will be there. That will give you a good look at how this class will finish at State. Boykin being ranked 10th is your opinion and I respect that, but my opinion is there is no way he doesn't place and I actually think he can beat anyone in the weight class.

Keep up the good work. I enjoy your post.

Boykin is absolutely one of my favorite wrestlers in this group not just because of his abilities but just his nature as a human being. The kid is first class in everything that he does and he does things his own way. It's just so hard to rank him ahead of anyone that is in currently ranked higher than him just based on his win/loss only. Could I see him make a major move at state. An astounding yes ! He's quick, He's strong and given the right circumstances I could see him in the top 3 at state ! His match with Parriman was great and he won the Derby classic He's also lost a couple that he shouldn't have thus his ranking.....Trust me I know him and am rooting for him .. Love his socks lol :) and the kid is first class all the way.

Sorry there's double posting. Last night it wouldn't let me reply for whatever reason

Franklin County's Erik Pina pinned the Moore 170 on Saturday and he is not in your list.

Is Pina going to be staying at 170 now ? He's been at 160 for quite some time. Thanks He did beat a Moore wrestler but it wasn't Wilbanks I believe he's still out

If Pina is staying at 170 he will be ranked somewhere in top 12 ....

My son wrestled Saturday against Moore and he said Wilbanks did not wrestle it was another kid.

I would think that after this coming weekend we will be able to adjust the rankings even more as basically most the teams are wrestling in really good tournaments. Best of luck to all !

Ki Ryder beat Casey mink was up 4-2 before injury default.

Jan 20th New Rankings !

I'm no Ranger I always say that because he's the one who truly provides the rankings and does an outstanding job for this sport. I really don't have the results of the Dragon yet and I try not to let just 1 match really change the outcome of someone's rankings. Congrats to Caleb Canter on remaining undefeated and winning the dragon leaving no doubt he's the one to beat !

There are a few changes as I watched Marlon Torriente from Seneca win the Capital classic. He did it by defeating 2 very strong kids that are ranked and in that case he did jump up 6 spots. Once again your input is very helpful and taken into consideration. There will be kids changing weight classes and a lot of changes before the Horse Park. I still believe 170 is going be a show !

My first thoughts is whomever got hurt is he ok ? Both are outstanding wrestlers and 170 is a very tough weight class and both have a shot at doing very well come regionals and state. You have my word I'll keep an eye on both kids records etc. It's just right now there's been so many on the top 15 win big tournaments etc it's hard to change a whole lot. It's like 6-15 are basically about even.I really mean that. I will watch though. Is Ryder going to North Oldham tourney ? Thanks

Not sure. Trainer stopped the match. Ryder Will not be at north oldham we are at state duals this weekend

Who did Torriente beat at Capital City?

Who did Torriente beat at Capital City?

Braden Jones Boone County and Erik Pina Franklin County both of whom are outstanding strong wrestlers and he beat Eddie Kaster in his opening match from Jeffersonville Indiana. Jones bounced back and finished 3rd

Ryder pinned pina and was pinned by canter.

New Rankings for Sunday Jan 27th

It's that time again for weekly rankings . Found out most the results of the Dragon and a couple of tournaments that went on Saturday . A few changes in the rankings but can assure you this is one very deep strong class of wrestlers ! Looking forward to the final weekend next weekend of regular season tournaments as I know North Oldham has a nice one with the Mustang Classic as well as a couple others. Congrats to all the teams at the Team state duels today CC, Union County for there great team efforts to take the titles ! Once again I'm no Ranger and any input you give can only help me evaluate the rankings for this outstanding class. The top 2 have separated themselves but as for say 3-16 any of these guys can beat most on any given day. Also Congrats to Braden Jones for winning the Lockland Invitational in Ohio with 20 teams in it. I love when our KY boys go to Ohio and win ! Also a congrats go out to Brennan Boykin for winning the Ft .knox Tourney !

Feb 2nd 2013 Rankings

Well coming up is the most important week of the high school season for most. A select group will have earned a trip to the Horse Park for the KHSAA for the state tournament. The season is long and grueling and the kids work so hard year around for the chance to compete at such a prestigious event. We as fans appreciate all the hard work you wrestlers go through and coaches for there basically thankless job of teaching as much as they can and working so many hours. There obviously will be changes into my rankings and this is such a solid group as I know on any given day just about any of these guys could beat one another and I know there will be a sleeper who I've missed. As I've tried to tell anyone. These are my rankings that I do for the love of the sport and for the fans that choose to read them. Rangers rankings I would assume will be coming out soon as I know he's been very busy with the middle school guys. Best of luck to all participants this week !

There could be a possible change or two as I don't know whose wrestling at 170 for a couple of schools. I don't know if Jimmy Preston is going to wrestle 160 or 170 or if Jordan Macintosh or Zack Mitchell for PRP. We'll know soon enough. There will be a breakdown next week as to all 32 kids who qualify for state and there regions. Best of luck to all !

UPDATE...I now know that Jordan Macintosh will be wrestling 170 for PRP and Zack Mitchell will be at 160 ..I would slide Jordan into the number 18 spot and move all others down. Thanks

Zaxk Mitchell got beat pretty bad wensday by Central hardins 170 maybe like 13-3 or something like that
