I dont think Mater Dei has ever lost their own tournament,

Union County, Trinity and St. Xavier all had champions, great testament to the improvement of Kentucky Wrestling overall especially at Union County.

That was a big time statement! To beat Franklin and Mater Dei is huge, plus Belleville is highly rated out of Illinois. I know Campbell County thinks they are just gonna show up and win state, but this little small school in the Western part of the state is gonna be a tough to take down. The Mater Dei people looked stunned that they lost their own tournament. That just doesn't happen.

That was a big time statement! To beat Franklin and Mater Dei is huge, plus Belleville is highly rated out of Illinois. I know Campbell County thinks they are just gonna show up and win state, but this little small school in the Western part of the state is gonna be a tough to take down. The Mater Dei people looked stunned that they lost their own tournament. That just doesn't happen.

I think CC has a huge amount of respect for Union and their wrestlers and capabilities i have never heard otherwise ,i don't speak for them but I think any school with a shot at a state title will be confident of victory ,and most know they are not gonna show up and just win they have lost to X once this yr they know they can be beat .But they are on a good roll Now

Huge! Mater Dei has a strong tradition and their wrestlers are well coached. To knock them off any time is big, but at their own event makes it even bigger.

Not sure what Mater Dei has a the present momoment but they have a very bright future ahead. In particular with the very talented Nick Lee and his brother Joe coming right behind him. Classy family.

This has been in the making a long time and it has a lot to do with the whole state of Kentucky improving. We just could not get the seedings needed because of our reputation versus other states. A KY state champion carried less weight than a returning MD Holiday Classic champion. Also, if you don't think there has been some "home cooking", ask even an Indiana kid going against MD. Probably the most educated wrestling fans I have ever seen and they can work a ref.

It is a great win for UC. I have been on the other end of some MD home cooking and it sucks. MD fans know a lot and it shows, but they also get my respect for what they have done over the years. I would also take pride in KY as a whole. All KY teams go there with a purpose, and all should be proud.
