Congratulations to all of these teams! Best of Luck!

Where is this hosted at?

Fern creek

When is this hosted

Whooooooo state duals baby ,,

So what is it , 3 pools of four ,placers from pools wrestle their counterparts form the other pools in finals !!!!!

I think it will be 4 pools of 3, not 100% sure about that though.

Four of three that would be a twist but I guess it wouldnt matter it would make finals more interesting .

So who will

Be top four / three ??????

I like the 4 pools of 3 done like a bracket (poolA vs poolD winner faces winner of poolB vs poolC) after the pool round.  Four matches to win it which saves one for an over all champ, small vs large!  How about it coaches?

That sounds awesome , let all

The placers from large wrestle their opposites from small , there can be small

And large winners

And an overall sounds like a great concept

!!!!

Please do small school vs big school!!! There is no real state duals champ without doing so! The split only hurts ky wrestling by weakening the tournament and splitting the talent.

You just want to measure up

Your new weight class , you dog

Top 3 from each

Big

1.Campbell
2. X
3. Woodford
Small

1.Union
2.Moore
3.Wayne

Whaaaaaaatttttttt that's insane ain't no way what the heck are you smokin

Union winning small school your nuts .hahhahahhah

Do you really think Woodford Is top three , not knocking them I know they have some studs but are they solid enough , I honestly do not know .

I was expecting Ryle Sk or Trinity to be top 3 or 4 in large but I do not know .

Ok, someone help me out. I understand that big and small will be wrestled separately with 12 teams in each division. 6#1's and 6#2's per. Riddle me this, if there are 4 pools of 3 how does it get desided which pools have 2#1's and a #2, and which has 1#1 and 2#2's? Take some tylenol if that just made your head hurt.

They will have a very entertaining seeding meeting.  Six #1's will be seeded 1-6 with #3 and #4 having another #1 in their pool.  Only logical scenario to me, but who knows?  I'd like to bug the room though!

Interesting for sure. Three pools of 4 would fix the problem. 2#1's and 2#2's per. Three pool winners wrestle a round robin for 1st thru 3rd. Still stay within the 5 match rule. IDK, just a stab in the dark.

So top two teams have 2s and 3 n 4 will have 5n 6 from the 1s and the last two 2 s Ok I got it ,

No really I do its easy .

CC and X , will meet in the finals , then CC and union can go outside and duke it out , I'm confident of a CC win in this scenario , our big guns are well bigger literally .

I think it is 3 pools of 4 not 4 of 3

IWIN, that would make more sense, but I don't like it because it takes 5 matches to decide the winner.  I want that 5th dual for the over all!

That's what I thought but it could be a ruse to throw PH off his game I bet it is already taking precious training time away from him .

I heard he pulled a pair of brass Knucks out of his singlet and clocked an Ohio kid over the weekend then threw his headgear at the ref so he could hide his Knucks again and ran out of the gym ,

Not sure he's allowed to wrestle but he said if Carr can carry a backpack he can carry some knucks around , fair is fair

That made my head spin.

Lol @ the backpack and knucks comment

Im confused by the list.

This weekend I thought Region 8 hosted the region duals at Johnson Central and Wayne Co. It was my understanding one was for large and one was for small schools.

This list has 4 region 8 teams all listed under small schools. Did I miss something?

State duals are divided into 6 sectionals, not 8 regions.  They are in different sectionals for state duals but still in region 8.  They will be in different regions starting next year with the new alignment on the khsaa website.

Or look at it a different way. The 1 and 2 seed get 2 #2's and while the 3 and 4 get a 1 and a 2. Not complicated.

I will say this again. This was done to see if it helps growth. If I remember correctly, and I know I do, when we went to the 32 man bracket there was a lot of whining about how oh it waters it down, yadi, yadi, yadi....yet it did its purpose. Took us from around 70 teams to over 100. Keep your eye on the big prize and not just the one for your team.

So top two teams have 2s and 3 n 4 will have 5n 6 from the 1s and the last two 2 s

Think that's the same not sure ,

I'm guessing it will start out in 3 pools of 4 and each pool will round robin.  From there it will break down into 4 pools of 3 with the winner of each previous pool going into a pool together, 2nd place from the previous pools going in together, etc.  Each one of those pools will round robin.  It would be tough to hold it in a day, but under the old format for regional duals, Region 3 did something similar.  It worked out pretty well overall.  I guess the old format could still be used as well where you start in pool play then break off into brackets.  Either way it would be interesting to see.  On a side note, I'm proud of Bullitt East.  Good to see those kids have a little success.  They're definitely up against it in the big school division and I can't imagine them doing very well against those schools, but I'm proud of the kids nonetheless.

By coach mccoys comment, I believe its 4 pools of three to start.

Either way, I'm in.  It's literally right around the corner from my house.  It'll be interesting and fun to watch.  Either way, I'll get to see Coach Davis from Meade stand up and yell the same thing over and over again.  That guy can flat out yell.

So all the speculation was useless , three pools of four so where are the results so far of the duals !!!!!Or are they in order of 1st 2nd

Big School is in order on Coach McCoy's list (1-2-1-2, etc) from each sectional.  I'm assuming small school is the same.

As I suspected , interesting results , I still do not understand why more schools did not attempt to make duals at least in our region section or whatever it is , Ryle should have given it a shot a shot I thought , Trinity losing to Oldham ? I think I saw Oldham against CC in the beginning of The year ,I may be mistaken I think they won against CC but it was a mishmash lineup but they were tough , I know there is south north or something as well so it could have Been them . Shirlkeys team !!i remember hammers !,

CC won that dual

Whoa there cowboy don't get your dancin shoes all worked up , I said I may be mistaken , that means wrong , I thought it was close or CC may have lost glad I was mistaken .

Just messin with you , big weekend go watch some

Matches do some stand ups switches , something that will help you win .

Ryle hasn't participated in state duals in several years choosing to go to Wadsworth instead.

Ok , I figured it had to do with a decent tournament , I wasn't taking a knock I know Ryle has a tough team and in a dual anything can happen particularly with how kids seem to change weights or perhaps it's how KY decent plan is set up . It is Definatly a bit different than Ohio .

I didn't take it as a knock. Good luck region 6 (err section 5)

This is a GREAT idea. Ryle needs to find a way to attend every year.

Im pretty sure they were in it the yr before last.. and we had the snow the two yrs before, not sure if they were planning on attending those years.

Overall championship match would be CC vs. Union.  CC wins the match because Union's studs win on decisions (Maybe Brock by pin or major), but CC's studs - especially from 152 up - win by major or pin.  Give the edge to CC on this.  On the other hand, impressive that Union won the Mater Dei tournament.  Years ago Caldwell took second with 4 finalists, but I can't ever remember a Kentucky team winning Mater Dei.  Have to concede that both CC and UC have taken risks to go out of state and wrestle very tough competition.  Will help them both come state duals and individual state.  MPIRE my kids are grown and out of high school, but came out of Missouri youth programs.  Frankly, the past 5 years I have seen improvement in Kentucky wrestling, partly because of what you have said regarding their willingness to go up to Ohio and Indiana to find tough competition.  There are some pretty solid and competitive kids wrestling in the state this year.

Your kids are studs, of course, but not the only high quality kids coming out of Kentucky this year.  Go up to the Anvil and make a statement for us!!!

I never thought for a moment that CC or My kids were the only studs I constantly brag on all the top kids - CC , UC . X , Trinity , SK , Ryles , Woodford , Lafayette , and the ones I know who have potential like One at Grant I have mentioned , or at Connor , and so on ,

I don't think anyone could accuse me of not talking up kids I know or other kids , but I'm sure they could accuse me of talking about mine a whole lot more :)

CC had done very well at every tournament I'm Ohio an made a huge statement big guns and little guns coaches and all ,

Winning big school at GMVWA , Fairfield , and Lakota , tournys and Dual , ad doing well at Franklin with guys out and ejected ,

The Hammer and Anvil will giv them a chance to represent again , a tough team from Mich loaded with ten top ten kida from Mich should be a big test ,

The yr has been going fast to fast for me but it's kept me

On the edge of my seat , usually happy and very mad / upset once , can't ask for more , "except a fair call ":)

Unreal and very tough comp for mys 152 / 160 lber and a few good ones for my 220 , this weekend again I will be excited nervous , another state champ soon to be D1 wrestler Stephen will most probably be facing and two top four ranked kids and placers one from Ohio and another from Mich , No Stephen did not do Iron Man but if I had to guess he has faced more top comp than any of the KY kids who was there and probably as much or more than most of the kids who were there period . just a coincidence in his class I am sure but it hassle for a big sr yr and says a lot about CC and thee schedule . As I have said , One of the top three or four tournys would be nice but they have done a good job with scheduling at CC . A few kids at CC do deserve a shot at a huge tourny next yr maybe they can get it , doesn't have to be Iron Man , I would say PA Powerade is on par and perhaps more uhhhh hospitable to outsiders or KENTUCKiANS.

Trust me when is say it is not my sole perception or take on things .

Hope KY puts together some nice stuff for The Fargo team maybe a camp

A week long camp , same for NHSCA duals again . Many impressive wrestlers in Ky all around , a lot of fun going over last yrs state tourny and all the matches , a long twisting journey for my Boy / Boys in their wrestling careers , hope it ends well for my oldest and as well for everyone as it can .

ATM has a nice test with a top ranked kid as well this weekend. Hasn't had the comp steph has this yr but has lit up some kids and have everyone some exciting matches and big moments .

CC is fortunate to have the SRs it has even though they are a bit different and just as fortunate to have the rest on their team , I thought they might b in trouble next yr losing the srs they will

But I have changed my mind , others have stepped up , and I think they will have two of the top three kids in the state and three of the top ten at least next yr , and I see them having two of the best and more the following ,

They actually have a FOR real Dynasty win or lose at state this yr or the next two and beyond .

I would look outside the box a bit , outside Ky and Ohio if I were them

. I would not do as many in Ohio another big one or two in KY perhaps one in ind and step up and go to PA

Although I do want ATM on the podium at Iron Man , I honestly do not trust them

The conflict for Ryle used to be the qualifying event, regional duals. The year you are talking about, Ryle sent their JV team to regionals and JV team finished 2nd, qualifying the team for state duals. I can't remember if the team ended up going or not.

Gotcha...yes, I can remember them being there. Hopefully with the way sectionals are laid out, they will start participating. They are too good not to be in it.

I doubt it. But who knows.

Lets keep this to State Duals discussions. I have moved the growth topic to a new thread.

What was the final team score of X vs. Southern?

53-18

Meade ended up not going and Apollo went for the first time in school history

Every wrestler on meade had staff

This is a tought for next year if you dont due a big school vs small school match

use the 4 pools of 3

instead of using a classic semi finals, round robin the 4 semis for the championship. I know you dont have a championship but you do have a true champion and you have a few extra really good duals. And the luck of the draw and seed is less important.

I got the idea from looking at the small school bracket and saw Larue wrestling Union in the semis, just bad luck on the seed draw. I know that Moore, JC and Larue are probably really close and this was a pain to seed. You dont see JC hardly through out the year and I dont know of any of these guys got to wrestle each other. How this was seeded would have made this an interesting meeting. My way , you have an equal chance of settleing it on the mat.

If you didnt have to have a championship to a pease the crowd wouldnt it be great if the did that with all the semifinalist at the state tourney

That's why you seed stuff ??

That's why you seed stuff ??

You still seed to try to spread and even out the talent. but you know sometimes there usually isnt much difference in 2,3 and 4 and with they way KY wrestling is so spread out geographically hardly anyone sees teams like JC or Western Ky teams so its hard to compare their competition vs other schools. So settle it on the mat.

agreed. its hard to seed teams like jc who wrestle a lot out of state. if khsaa would sanction state duals more teams would travel to see other for good matches and seeding purposes.

Not sure I understand khsaa sanction state duals , what was that this weekend a scrimmage

State Duals is not an official KHSAA event.  They only sponsor/sanction the region and state tournaments.  The coaches association started and runs the state duals.

So do the matches count or were they for kicks ????

The matches count just as much as any dual or tourney during the regular season.

All that it means is that the KHSAA does not recognize the winner of the state duals as a Ky champion.  Any more than they would recognize the winner of the Dragon or Rumble as a Ky champion.

It's just another tourney with no special meaning according to the KHSAA.

So do the matches count or were they for kicks ????

It's crazy a few years ago when the khsaa ended slow pitch softball for girls. What the coaches asscociation did was just run there own state tournament. Did it count ? In my eyes it did and to all the kids it did but it was not an officially sanctioned event by the KHSAA it would still be covered under the insurance but it's not treated as an official state tournament. The only events that are sponsored by the KHSAA are the Regions and State tourney at the Horsepark. In small words if you don't see the tournament on the KHSAA's website it's not sponsored by the KHSAA.

So they count and are a dual of the best teams and are called state duals but ate not recognized

Hahahahahahhahabwahahahahahahhahahahahahh

Ok those were some good Fern Creek duals congrats to them for having the best darn duals in the state , bit crowded ,"saw a whole other set of bleachers not getting used that perplexed me even if one section would have been used it would have been good . The small gym was desolate ??? Not complaining first state duals I ever attended anywhere , fun time for the most part SK stunned everyone , from what I saw Larue looked tough , I know I never mention them because I am not familiar with them .same for a lot of teams . Missed all ov Walton Veronas matches thought I saw Logan hammering someone at one point .

This is a KHSAA sanctioned event its just not an event they recognize as a State Meet. The KYWCA does.

So that's why the short sleeve t-shirts were $20.....Not the KHSAA, but the KYWCA over charging for a plain tourney tee. Nice.

Just FYI....we did not make the T-shirts nor did we sell them. Fern Creek made arrangements for someone to sell them. The KYWCA made no money off of them.
