This is new thread continued off 170 post . It was getting kind of jumbled up so just figured I'd start a newthread. I do my best to post new rankings every Sunday or Monday and you can see previous rankings in the old170 thread. Thanks

Jan 20th New Rankings !

I'm no Ranger I always say that because he's the one who truly provides the rankings and does an outstanding job for this sport. I really don't have the results of the Dragon yet and I try not to let just 1 match really change the outcome of someone's rankings. Congrats to Caleb Canter on remaining undefeated and winning the dragon leaving no doubt he's the one to beat !

There are a few changes as I watched Marlon Torriente from Seneca win the Capital classic. He did it by defeating 2 very strong kids that are ranked and in that case he did jump up 6 spots. Once again your input is very helpful and taken into consideration. There will be kids changing weight classes and a lot of changes before the Horse Park. I still believe 170 is going be a show !

How their kid had beaten 4 ranked kids and not gotten ranked and what I thought and did it matter , I had no real answer as it is too complex to answer and there is no real truthful reply , does it matter as far as the wrestler not really but if they seed of the rankings it could hurt him drawing a top seed ???? Not really official I do not think but they might as well be if they are not people use them to seed so it can hurt kids , so on thinking were someone to just have some

I told them that if a kid isn't ranked and beats a ranked kid in a tourny he can ride out their draw , but it's more complicated than that , seeing how people use press to down someone or diminish them and their accomplishments it's a crappy deal , when people do rankings they should be sure to explain , Hey this is my take I'm not perfect and I may be bias so it is what it is , just for kicks and feel free to post your own state your thoughts or tell me to eat $bi)

Thanks for the compliment on my rankings saying there refreshing. I really do try to be accurate as I can be and have to use a multitude of sources such as, Trackwrestling for duels and tournaments, baumspage, scorebook and even yappi to find out how are guys are doing. I try to always stress that my rankings are not those of Ranger but just rankings that I feel are fair and as accurate as I can find. There's no true measure as most of these guys have not wrestled one another even in tournaments and it does take time to break it down. I hope someone would say hey dude your rankings are way off or they stink or something and I just as you said answer with these are my opinions after all my research.  I also wish someone would do this for each class on a non formal basis at least it gives the average fan to know that there are good matches coming up. The guy that does the Region 1's top 4 does a great job imho. and I respect all your replies and answers of if you haven't seen someone you don't want to rate them. The fan base and this site are growing as well as the sport. I enjoy just providing the information to the few that may enjoy reading them.

I wouldn't ever think they would have to resort to that . 99% of the time the seeding criteria is handed to the tournament director and they come up with the seedings via trackwrestling or whatever method they use such as coaches meetings etc. My rankings are for the average Joe fan.

Another thing on my rankings . I rank based on records, head to head, same opponents and difficulty of schedule etc using all of the criteria above that I talked about but those arn't my true feelings on say 1 given match. I'll use Boykin as an example as I really like the kid and have seen him wrestle a few times. He's quick and very strong and I'd say he could beat any of the top 10 but he's ranked number 11. Hope that makes sense. I'm a fan just like most of you  !
