I posted this in another thread and it made me wonder why there is no wrestling in the Warren County/Bowling Green KY area?  The closest wrestling schools are Barren County and Ohio County.  I looked on KSHAA and see no history that that area has ever had wrestling.  Does anyone know any history on this area?  Has anyone ever tried starting a program there?  Is there an issue with the school boards?  What???  I am not sure why a school system and city that size does not have any wrestling programs at their schools, but it might be a great opportunity to start a program. That area is rich with athletic talent. It has a great tradition in football as well as other sports, and you could possibility tap that resource. I would love to see that area get wrestling started. It would really improve our states wrestling. Great area, great resources, new schools, great athletes.

I can tell you this.  Bowling Green had a team up to at least 1977 (They had state qulifiers in 77).  I'm not sure what happened to them.  I am not familiar with the other schools in that area.  If you know what high schools are in that area, I can tell you if they had state qualifiers from the 70 on up.

I cannot recall who i talked with, But there have been a few coaches approach schools attempting to start wrestling programs in BG. The school was for it but the Board wouldn't considered it.

Not sure about the 70's but the schools now are: Warren Central, Warren East, South Warren, Greenwood, Allen Co Scottsville, Logan, Russellville, Edmonson Co, Butler Co, Franklin Simpson.

I really wish it could get started again in this area.

And of course Bowling Green High

Sommerset area would be good as well
