88 pounds is the least you can weigh.

cmmcoy where did you get the info from?

That use to be the rule but I think the rule book only says. "a contestant shall not wrestle more than one weight class above that class for which the actual weight, at the time of weigh-in qualifies, the competitor."  I don't see  anything about minimum wt. for 103.

I could be wrong however.

92 lbs. comes to mind but I'm not 100%.

It seldom hurts to be REALLY hydrated

last year the minimum weight was 85 pounds i remember because we had a gu that could not make the weihgt he was to small

my freshman year in 04-05 i weighed 75 di they change it or something?

Tj Berryman from southern weighed only 88 pounds every match and still wrestled if that helps at all...

what is the rule?

I think you just need the approval of your coach, there is no min. 88# if you think you can do the class, thats what I heard, go for it!

[/q  uote]can someone show me where to go to find the answer?

I emailed the NFHS to see what they had to say:

What is the minimum weight for a 103 lb. wrestler?

It used to be 88 lbs, is it still?

Thank you for your time.

The NFHS no longer has a rule on minimum weight for the 103 pound weight class.  You need to contact your State Association office to see if they have a more restrictive rule on this minimum weight.

That makes sense.  I searched the rule book and found nothing related to this topic..

HAHA Bodylock, I got the same exact email back today.

I guess that I did not realize it had changed. When OI wrestled it was 88 pounds. I apologize for giving the wrong info.

Ok does Kentucky have a rule on 103. The NHFS does not. Just trying to get a definite answer before the season starts .

I have checked with all of my resources and I am told it is really up to the coach and wrestler how light you can be, most coaches will not let a person go 20 pounds light because of injury possibilities, then you get perceived as too risky and will cost you your job

I think that martin from Seneca is going to win the 103 weight class

Look for Coty Woods from North Hardin to be in the mix.

Just checking to see if anyone has herd different?  Seems to be odd that one weight class would not have a minimum weight.

Coty is ineligible

Coty is ineligible

No he is eligible. He has been approved to wrestler with North Hardin by KHSAA.

who is going 103 for sure this year, seneca just had their body fat today

robbie vaughn from simon kenton will be there... he will be tough.. he has hit some off season tournaments, hit a camp or too.. and has been in the weight room a whole bunch..Hes a dedicated worker i would say

soooo....who's gonna win state this year??? :?

martin from seneca

There were a couple of pretty good looking 103s at the mcreary scrimmage tonight..  Bourbon countys 103 looked pretty good and so did McCrearys, which was an 8th grader..  I think Luke Troxell, and wayne co had a decent looking 7th grader that moved in from Oklahoma.. none of those had the chance to face each other but out of the three i would say Troxell looked the best.. just my opinion..

so its not daniel bowling for mccreary.... this year... i heard that he was going 103

is he?

Daniel Bowling is the 112 this year..  they decided that it was best to be done this way..  McCreary has a pretty tough lineup this year, i look for them to have alot of state placer potential this year..  As I incinuated look out for Troxell this year...  Go Raiders...

Cody wood will be in the top four this year this kid is something special after seeing him at western hill he looked very solid for north Hardin.
