Most improved wrestler

who was the most improved wrestler for this season?

This was only our 2nd season of wrestling, 1st high school, so that would be hard to call. I saw a lot of improvement from my son, Collin 170, this year from last so being the proud dad of not only the wrestler but also the young man he's become I vote for him. I realize I'll probably be the only one who does but that's ok because I know there are better wrestlers than him... now. Even though he failed to place this year I feel overall he had a better year than was expected. He knows who the better wrestlers are and that's who he wants to wrestle and hopefully defeat in the future. He knows if you're content to stay where you are now then that's where you will stay, so you have to look at where you want to go to improve.

I would have to nominate my son, Tighe Harrod 160 Franklin County. He had never won more than 12 matches in a season. This year, his senior season, he went 30-9, finished ranked 20th by Ranger, beat some ranked wrestlers, won some big duals matches for his team (mostly at 170), qualified for state, almost knocked off a #1 seed (lost 10-9 last second) and won a match by pin at state.

We are very proud of him.

i think Thompson of X is one of the most improved. He went from being on JV for three years to being in the state finals and beating kids he wasnt suppost to beat.

Although he didn't finish off the year how I wanted him to watching Jeff Wurth develop from that dorky looking JV wrestler on Union's team to one hell of a wrestler was fun to see. In a similar vein I remember Ki Ryder's first day at practice where I was wondering who the hell would wear a polo to go on a run. His first year the only move he could hit was a cross face that gave one of our seniors nightmares, we basically told him to cross face in every situation (including getting pinned in a cradle). Now he is going into his senior year with a halfway decent shot at a state title

From a friend of mine who lives in Union County, the fact that Jeff Wurth made it back to wrestle was truly amazing. He had a very scary health situation this year. He began the year wrestling at 126 pounds, sat out while he recovered and ended up getting slotted at the 147 pound class. That's a huge difference in opposition. Kid just faced some tough circumstances.

I'll give it 3 ... My nephew 170-- Braden Jones Boone County 37-6 year and got injured in warm ups of the regional. Next year he will be on that podium and I really believe he's going to be taking a lot of steps .

2 way tie........... Eli Matthews 182, Dustin Turner 170 both from Campbell co Both these guys just showed with hard work what you can achieve..

I heard about that too, I had truly given up on him until I heard that he was gonna wrestle in regionals
