I'm familiar with Region 6 and know that the cupboard is stocked for a few programs for the next 2-3 years. SK (Owens, Mueller, etc), Ryle (Belk, Meiman, etc.), WV (Brown, both Roths), Conner (Wiley, Kaernin), and Campbell (Fausz, Myers, Matthews, Spahr, Maggard and a ton of stud 8th graders). What about the rest of the state? Who are some other powers for the next few years? Union and Woodford come to mind from what I saw at the tournament. Who else are legit powers in the making? Who are the younger wrestlers from which programs to look out for that can make their teams a legit title contender?
Who are the legit contenders for the next 3-4 years?

Young of lafayette. Finals as a freshman is huge at 285. I would look for him to be back there the next few years.
Young had an easy draw. There wasn't any competition on his side. He doesn't seem to know much or how to use his body. I watched parts of his semi match and was not impressed. That Meade kid was not that tough and he seemed to struggle with him. I'll be honest i did not catch the end of the match but i have wrestled the same kid and had no problem. The HWT class has not been strong since 2011 and even then it wasn't great. He maybe a contender just because he is big. If Sinclair had stuck with wrestling his freshman and sophomore year he would have been in the finals, not young.
Wow! The kid is a 2nd year wrestler. Agreed, he has some technique to learn, but damn, you completely just discredited what he accomplished. Classy. He'll be a multi time state champ.
I never said he wouldn't. I just said he isn't as good as everyone thinks.

Don't forget Gavin Brown from UHA a couple years down the line. Still 3 years away from being eligible for high school wrestling
Max Andreoni - Woodford County. Won middle school state at 140 and placed 7th at 138 as an 8th grader. Great two weekends of wrestling.
You can bet that with St. X winning it, the boys at Trinity will be raising their game too. They have a solid core of young wrestlers.
Connor has Trevor Thompson as well
How about Miller 195 from Scott... Placing 4th... Only a sophmore.
ST.X has many returners in the room and some possible champs should be strong next year.Algeier brothers/ Frankrone,Binder,Lampe brothers and some others i am sure i am forgetting.
I am sure they will be favorites going in and should be.ST.X has many returners in the room and some possible champs should be strong next year.Algeier brothers/ Frankrone,Binder,Lampe brothers and some others i am sure i am forgetting.
They have a couple studs coming up from River City that will also score them some points.
It will be a different challenge for their coaches to keep them from being over confident.
I will harp on a little more about NKY over the next few years- I'm speaking only about Freshman and younger
CC- Sparh, Krebs, Wells, Yenter, and Moore come to mind. Will be interesting to see how Yenter, Krebs, Wells, and Moore all battle it out for two spots next year along with Maggard down there.
Ryle- L. Erdman, J. Mieman, Osbourn- Horton is too young to be mentioned here I think. I'm completely blanking on a name now but the young man who lost to Smith at districts will be a name we talk about over the next three years.
Conner- Wiley, Kearns, Badida - Kearns is an 8th grade with tons of potential.
Walton- Smith, Roth, Huber, Peace- Roth will be a career 106 pounder so he will make noise by the time he is Soph.
Dixie- Cornett- Stude
SK- Mueller, C. Cooper- Both Freshman with a very good skill set.
Boone- ??
Cooper- Bailey
There is a kid named Daulton Mayer is a 5th grader who wrestled middle school and did well. He has been wrestling for 3 years now and has one youth state twice now. he will be a freshman in 4 years and I think as long as his dad doesnt burn him out he could be a contender. He has potential and is wrestling with some Graham kids every week. he has a passion for it and i cant wait to see the next generation of CC wrestlers. It will be awesome.
Freshman:
Ryle: Logan Erdman
Lafayette: Vasquez, Young--Both placed this year, I know Young in finals and pretty sure of vasquez too
St. X: Binder placed, Francrone (behind French this year-even took his spot briefly) Miles coming up next year
Trinity: Duncan placed 8th grade and this year, Heidorf placed this year, Barton came close
Union: Someone mentioned Jackson Oxford--what happened to him this year? Behind someone or injured? He's gonna be a stud! Sheffer obviously
Larue: Dillon West placed this year
There are many more, just the ones I remember watching this weekend.
I realize Logan Erdman was out this year, but I know he'll be back.
Oxford was behind Jayce, Wurth, and Gahfer. Fell in a bad weight class. Also had surgery early in the season on a previous collar bone injury. Will be back within the next week or two and most likely varsity next year. I wonder what young guys Christian county or fort Campbell have coming in. Campbell county has some studs in the lower weights bunched up. See how everyone grows over the next few months.
Fort Campbell has 20 something 6th graders that are gonna wrestle next year according to half, the administration prevented them from wrestling middle school this year
If we se saying 3 to 4 years. From Moore. Bobby poynter and toby Siddens
I think Ryle will have a few in the next 2 to 4 years. B. Osborne, G. Farwick, L. Erdman, J. Erdman, J. Belk, R. Woolfe, J. Meiman, J. Dorn. F. Golden. Ryle has no seniors next year. The young guns will come out blazen. Looks like the Middle School State Championship team from 2010. We have a couple of middle schoolers coming up and trying to get David Rich back out of retirement.
Johnson Central has a few young kids coming up. Geordon Blanton, Aaron King, Garet McCloud, Sam Griffith, Blake Gamble, Joe Slone, Aaron Butcher, and Gunner Slone if he wrestles are a few.
I saw a couple of very skilled wrestlers at the youth tournament on Sunday. I don't remember all of the names but one stuck out to me. Gabe Adams from Union Co. is going to be a great wrestler. I don't know how old he is but watch out for him.
Same for Jackson Belk. He is a 4 timer in youth, he is a third grader. Thats right, There will be another Belk coming through. lol.
Hello all, I have been lurking here all season, but have not wanted to post as I am new to true wrestling. I have been a martial artist for about 25 years and I am an instructor in Mushin Do Bujutsu and Kyokushin Karate and one of my top students is my Son. He has always been a big fan of wrestling and when he heard Graves County had started a program we transferred him so he could participate in the sport. At the beginning of the season he was raw talent and he got most of his victories by taking people down and letting them to take them down again, as his Martial Art training had conditioned him to have solid takedown and takedown defense, but he had virtually no game on the ground. He worked hard all season though to improve and by the end of the season he was beginning to pin opponents, but high level wrestlers still got the best of him at times. Regardless, he placed third in his region after losing to Ryder from Ft Campbell and qualified for state in his first year. Neither he nor I had any delusions of Grangier about him placing though because there aren't any cupcakes at state and the 170 class was loaded. It was a good experience for him though and one that has motivated him because he saw where he was at and where he needs to be to compete at that level. We will be vetting him in some camps to help him improve. He wrestled at 170 but will likely drop to 160 as he actually isn't even close to being 170. Anyway, I just wanted to throw his name out there as a possible spoiler next year. We do not expect him to contend for a title as there ate just too many kids out there who were born in a singlet and it is difficult to overcome that, but I do think he will place next year. The GCHS team as a whole will improve over the next few years. Although my son, Chase Copeland and Josiah Sisco should do well enough as Seniors next year, Coach Girard is building something and he has a couple of young phenoms who will shake it up a bit too. Not to say they are going to knock Union off of the pedestal, but in time they will become a more competitive and complete team. So I said all of that to just sau that Chase has plans on returning next year and redeeming himself for a lackluster performance at state this year. I also think Ryder from FCHS will be another to watch. He represented himself well at state this year, but I expect more from him in his senior season. He has tremendous heart and is a fine young man who just seems to enjoy the competition. I wish I knew more about the sport, but I have already fallen in love with what I would have to say is the most challenging and demanding sport I have ever seen. As a former Mayfield football player, those aren't easy words to say, but its the truth. Wrestling is just a beautiful sport and I am already looking forward to next season. BTW, the state tournament was a real treat for me as it was my first. I loved watching those young men leave every ounce they had on the mats. Sorry, so long, but I have been waiting to post for sometime and just wanted to get some of that out there.
Max Andreoni from Woodford Won middle school state and then won Regions at High School. Think he placed 7th at High School State and he's a 8th grader. the other one to watch out for from Woodford is Tylan Tucker. He's a 7th grader think he lost 2matches all yr by total of two pts. Plus Joey Roberts will be a name to remember as well.
Is Andreoni a Graham transfer and possibly heading back?
I see you carry a nice size spoon as well. Is it wooden? Lol! No, Max is home grown. Has family that has wrestled and won for WC.Is Andreoni a Graham transfer and possibly heading back?

You lost me. Glad to hear he's homegrown and will be around. Impressive kid.
Thumper- thanks for the kind wonders about Ryder. I can tell you he is already getting ready for next season. Being a Mayfield guy you are when are they starting their program?
Lost you? Spoons are meant to stir. Typically stirring is in a pot. Hence the term, "stir the pot". Lol! Just having some fun.You lost me. Glad to hear he's homegrown and will be around. Impressive kid.
I can see a bunch of kids on OLdhsm county make a run. Emerson And Shirkey are the big ones but there are a whole group of freshman that had a good run this year such as Alex McIntosh, Nick Wise at 106 and Max Emerson who was the only freshman in the 160 pound weight class at state

I've been known to do that--just ask Ranger. However, I was just clarifying the Woodford kid.
Haha! That's cool Coach. No harm, no.foul Andreoni is a great kid. I'd be willing to bet a 2 maybe 3 timer. Just a hunch..
