Good question.  The team rankings are based on my "projection" of team points (and finish) at the state tournament.  So, even though other teams in the region may be better than Valley, right now I am thinking that they will put up just a couple more points.  And it truly is just a couple.  Joe Raleigh and Beebop are giving them a slight edge right now.

Southern 112 this is state rankings.  Where the team will finish in the state tourney.

Take for example Lawrence Co. In a regular tourney they probably don't place very well.  Since they had Murton and expecially when they had both Murtons the team placed higher at the state tourney than in smaller tourneys or duals.

Just having one state champion will get you in the top 30 if not the top 20.

i also think that ben edwards from valley will show up and suprise some people this year as well....and he is from valley also.....

He is on my radar, just not scoring points yet.  Can you confirm that Joe Raleigh will be a senior?

yes joe raliegh is a senior....and i see him placing this year also....

Hey

Why isn't the vaughn kid from Sk for 112 not in there? The other vaughn is in there at 171, (maybe) football first I THINK)>

I think he is also running c.c. I still heard he beat Bates and Chitwood at camp, I also was told he got his butt kicked too,,

I am keeping my eye on him,,,,,

He's #16.

i have wrestled both Murdock of harrison and bullock of lafyette and i am strongly leaning towards murdock is way stronger and more technical. Bullock is to slow and to weak i think to beat many heavy weights but he may have buffed up i sure hope he did best of luck to everyone

How did Ryan Vaughn get in there at 171, I know he is up to around 165' ish? Isn't there another Supe wrestling for Scott?

Two things on Ryan Vaughn.  I have Cooper at 160, 'nuff said.  He gets ranked because right now I don't see any other guys that are obviously better.

The other Supe is outside the published rankings.  He will have a tough road in that region at 112 with Bates, Vaughn, Chitwood, and Wren (who beat him for 5th at region).  I only show 15 right now to limit some of the "I beat so and so, why is he ahead of me".  Some of that is good, because I don't see all of the results from week to week.  But when we're talking about being #25 or #27 because you beat a guy once at a summer tournament by a couple points is questionable.

wood cant beat sullivan now no chance he can i dont think sullivan is ready for some good competion and wood will see he could have stayed at 119 and got 2nd malcom should be higher like 2 at 140 and fuller is going heavy wieght

Are you saying Sullivan is ready for some good competition?

I think he may get some from Caleb if they meet up, both are very good, needs to be decided on the mat. Where will they meet up? Does Wayne go to WCI?

Your response is appreciated!

wood and sullivan will meet up sooner then expected in wayne county in the second week they will wrestle i dont know i like wood tough kid but i see sullivan beating him by 6 points sullivan is so underestemated he beat kids at the junior olympics on a national level won the scholastic invitational in pigeon forge pinning the tennessee state champ in the second period  very tough stand up and any good wrestler wont stay on the mat good match but sullivan will out wrestle wood 9 out of 10 times he can shoot and is the best lower wieght thrower in a while i have seen belive me coach upchurch will have sullivan ready for whatever wood has to throw at him i mean dont get me wrong wood is a great wrestler and person but sullivan is  little much for him to handle . Malcom Jackson will be tough to stop i really think he will win it at 140 he beat ashbrook at camp he beat saunders at camp to tough kid and hates to lose after the wieght miss last year i see him coming back strong. At 215 fuller should be up there he is for real to at camp looked good had an injusry that was nagging him but is ok to go now at wayne also will be a dandy 215 bracket Watson,Chaney,Fuller and who ever woodford has at 215 could be interesting. 189 looks good but i think houchens can beat a few of them guys up there him and matt green would have a killer match i think with houchens slittley ahead of him maybe 2 points and also steven watson , jarod uall or however you spell his name from ohio county is tough look out for them to to make some upsets at 189 next year

Fern Creek not going back to Wayne 2nd week of season.

They went last year and Wayne forfeited to Caleb at 112, he didnt even get a match against them.

I can't believe it took this long for someone to bring this up, a whole week.  Overtimeking, We all appreciate your feedback and opinion, but come on, let's have a reality check.  To say Caleb has no chance against Sullivan is ludicrous.  I don't think you can say with a straight face that Shane Parks has no chance.  He only lost 2-0 last year.  And I think we can agree that a healthy Caleb is much tougher than Parks (no offense to Shane).  I agree, Sullivan is great and is definitely the best lightweight thrower I have ever seen (Tommy Storms was probably 2nd).  But I haven't seen him on the mat with someone the caliber of Wood.  And I think Wood's style can take Sullivan.  As eville says, time will tell and it will be decided on the mat, not by rankings or anyones opinion.  But it is fun to discuss!!!

I would also add that I think Caleb considering dropping to 112 is likely driven by his support of the team.  I'm basing this on hearing just a few things here and there and as an outside observer, but I think he is doing this primarily because it will make the team better.

I do think Caleb has the advantage.  He has a tough defense and is very tough on top.

well i might have made it sound bad towards caleb but no offense to him at all great wrestler but i  dont see him beating sullivan but who knows maybe he has something i dont know about up his sleeve

Are your next rankings going to be after practice starts?

Are your next rankings going to be after practice starts?

I might do one more at the end of this month and then wait for the updates once everyone gets into practice.

owww ranger i also wanted to sayi appreciate the ranking and love to read them gives something to talk about and someting to work for

FOR 152 kendrick shaw has moved with his family to texas. So he wont be wrestling in kentucky.

If someone wants to wrestle Sullivan during the regular season that is great. But if you are after a title you should stay out of his weight class.  JMHO

I think some of these rankings are messed up.... Sullivan told me at the Bluegrass state games, He was cutting back to 103 half way threw the season so he can wrestle 103 at state. Now about Calbe Wood he could only go to 116 last year.. Well thats what his bodyfat test said.  I think Sullivan over Wood in a six min. battle. all hands down sullivan gets the win. Maybe this could be a state finals match if Sullivan changes his mind about going to 103. Cant wait to see what happends

Are these the only 2 "messed up" things you see?  Because if you're going to make a statement like that then let's hear what your opinion is.  On Sullivan and Wood, we won't know until the season starts.  And maybe not even then because I really don't think either of these guys knows what he is really going to do.  We've heard from a lot of different sources, including the kids themselves, and still there are questions.  The body fat test from last year doesn't mean a thing.  If Caleb wants all he has to do is step on the scale the day of the test weighing 112 (adequately hydrated).  If he is below the % then I'm guessing he will be able to get a doctors sign off.  I don't think Caleb is doing this to challenge Sullivan.  I think he is considering the team and trying to get a team title as well.

ranger. cory armstrong from christian county is not going 160 this year. he is going 152. just as a heads up.

Wood and Sullivan wouldnt meet until State anyway!

just curious why carr would be ranked above martin at 103? he didn't even compete at state, martin gave his older brother a very close match in the semis at state and has improved immensely over the summer, not to mention he has gained 15 pounds and grown 5 inches, he is much stronger, I dont see carr beating him

You make a good point.  But you can't make the assumption that just because he was close with the older brother then he beats the younger one.  Ask the Warners about that one.  Anyway, I think these two are really, really close.  It's a toss-up.

I understand what your saying but the older carr was obviously the tougher wrestler since he had the varsity spot and they were in the same weight class, and I know that the younger brother had trouble will some of the tougher varity 103's like FC's Tommy Warren, this says to me the the older carr was the tougher of the two, but that was last year so knowbody can be sure until the seaon begins.

I may not have been clear.  I wasn't making a case for the little Carr to be a better wrestler, only that just because his bigger, older brother beat him out for the spot doesn't mean another wrestler (Martin) is obviously better.  Maybe he gives his older brother just as good a match.  But as you say, in a matter of weeks we'll have a lot more answers.

our answers are getting really close, then we can start getting a better idea of what is really going to happen, even through the tests
