Father Son state champion combo.

Topic ID: 9902 | 7 Posts

Here is my question How many Father/Son state champion combinations are there in KY.

I know there are some combinations at Union with the Ervins, but I am not sure of what the father and son combinations are.

I believe that

Steve/Ben Vessels are one   Steve won 185 for Fern  Creek in 1970 and Ben won 189 for Seneca in 2002.

Mike/Mike Nolan are another  Mike (Sr) won state for Newport Catholic in 1969 at 95lbs and 1971 at 132.  Mike (Jr) won state at 152 for Campbell Co. in 2004.

What are the other Combinations?/

The Union ones off the top of my head go Robert/Isaac Ervin, Robert/Caleb Ervin, and Max, Mitch, and Brock Ervin with their dad (the one who wears the hat)

OK here is what I have uncovered for the Ervins.  I guess it could be a game (Match the Ervins) :D

1977 Tim Ervin 126

1981 Robert Ervin 112

1982 Robert Ervin 119

1992 Brad Ervin 112

2005 Max Ervin 160

2007 Mitch Ervin 160

2008 Mitch Ervin 160

2009 Caleb Ervin 130

2009 Luke Ervin 135

2009 Isaac Ervin 160

2010 Caleb Ervin 140

2010 Brock Ervin 103

2011 Caleb Ervin 152

2011 Brock Ervin 112

2012 Brock Ervin 126

2015 Brock Ervin 126

I believe I also found another

HItchings (Fern Creek) 1981 at 167lbs.  I believe this is Brad and Brents father.

I like the time skips, Brad Ervin got held back a lot. I also see we are already crowning Brock in 2015 ;)

I know Luke's dad Gary never won a title but he did compete on the Amazing Race and fathered Miss Kentucky so I think he won life

Oops I fixed it that was suppose to be Max at 160 in 05. :D

I believe Dean Williams 1998 from Seneca and his dad was the first to do it.  His dad won it in 65 & 66

I was unaware of that Coach Diaz. I knew Dean was a butt kicker, had know idea that his Dad was too. Good info man. By the way, I hope all is well. I know I might not see as much of you this year, but hopefully we will cross paths along the way. Take care David.
